We have enjoyed staying at Le Grand Balcon several times. It is perfectly placed in the very centre of Toulouse and with a great breakfast and friendly helpful staff. Of particular interest is the old and very special St Expery suite. Highly recommended all round.
This hotel on a perfect location is a pleasure to stay in! Friendley staff and perfect room. It's only a minute a way from the nice Place Capitole. The rooms are clean en scilent. We recommend this hotel very much!
ideally located for city exploration, boutique style with super friendly service , rooms are quiet , double- but feels like triple glazing, functional and clean. good value for money, parking garage in 100 meters walk distance
Excellent staff who went beyond what is normal to help out and provide directions and recommendations. When arriving at a hotel the welcome is important to get off to a good start. As mentioned a little more attention to the room at not considerable cost would make for an easier stay.
While visiting Toulouse we paid a visit to the red brick Boutique Hotel Grand Balcon, with its large iron balcony overlooking the Place du Capitole, and once home for many of the early pilots for Aéropostale (Now French airmail service). Of this charming 1930's hotel only the main entrance remains the same, with its original multicolored warn mosaic tile floor. Today the hotel has a completely new avant-garde look in grays and white with stainless steel and leather, thanks to architect and designer Jean-Philippe Nuel. The staff were very friendly and full of local knowledge, explaining to us with pride about the Hotels connections to history, we spent quite some time looking at all the memorabilia. The hotel keeps the past alive with black-and-white photos of the Aéropostale aviation pioneers on the wall of the hotel's lounge. Back in the 30's the Florida cafe in Place du Capitole was very popular with these aviators from the hotel Grand Balcon and Matadors from a local bull ring. Legend has it that these young pilots would dancing the tango in the hotel’s dining room, and then carrying their lady friends up the stairs so that three spinster owners of the hotel would only hear one set of steps on the stairs. From the lobby of the Hotel it is only a short distance to the restaurants in Place du Capitole at the end of the street, and the Capitol metro station in Charles de Gaul square, where many different events taking place like the farmer’s market, flea market, exhibits, etc. TIP: The hotel is on a restricted road which makes it difficult to arrive in a hire car, so take a cab from the airport.…
