Best location ever for enjoying the center of Metz and the river. Easy walk from the train station. Really interesting building for a hotel! Surrounded by parks and historic buildings plus outdoor art installations of all kinds (sidewalk drain grilles that have music coming out of them, for one!). Wish we could have stayed longer.

We found the hotel the perfect stopover location on our way to Southern France. We appreciate the proximity to the highway and the great location in town. A lovely park surrounds the hotel. Taking your dog along is easy. Parking in front of the hotel is a challenge but there is public parking in a parking garage close by. We also like the great restaurant in the hotel. The rooms are comfortable and quite big with a Nespresso machine and a water cattle. We also like the concept of not having a proper reception desk. That concept, however, only works with front desk staff being committed, interested, and having an open approach to guests. We found the women working at the reception were more interested in themselves than their guests.

The room is huge, with plenty of room for your luggage and bits and pieces. Good, quiet air-conditioning purring away in the background. No street noise. Also a good-sized bathroom with good shelf space and extra towels. With a comfortable king bed, good pillows, a restful quiet night is assured. The breakfast was very good with a wide selection of options - definitely worth including. Wish I had also had dinner here, but found it a bit difficult obtaining menu information. Sufficiently close (900 metres) from the railway station, and a short walk, around 800 metres, into the city centre. Would have liked to stay longer, and would definitely stay here again if visiting Metz. Really good value for the money.

Booked a one-night stay at Hotel La Citadelle Metz as suggested by Stephen Ambrose Historical Tours in conjunction with SAHT's "Footsteps of Patton" tour in June 2032. The hotel is located in northeast France at the confluence of the Moselle and the Seille rivers. My room was spacious, well-lit, and clean. The bed was comfortably firm, air temperature likewise was comfortable, and the room permitted open windows without screens. Not sure why there were no USB ports, and there was no evidence that the hotelier still supplied hand towels to guests who use the room's bathroom. Both seemed like an odd choice when cutting corners (presumably to save the hotel money). Otherwise, linen and towels were clean and in good supply. The bathroom was well-provisioned, well lit, and fully accessible. Breakfast was a well-provisioned traditional French buffet, offered in a spacious dining area. Outside, there is a small carousel and amusement area nearby, along with several outdoor art exhibits - statuary and abstracts highlighting the diversity of the area.

We were very taken by this hotel. Distinctive inside and out with helpful staff. Our room was well appointed and quiet with a nice green view out of the expansive windows. And an easy walk to the centre of the lovely old town of Metz. Recommended.

This is a gem of a property in Metz. It’s away from the busy areas but easily walkable to the cafes. Restaurants and sights of Metz. The rooms are airy, well appointed and clean and modern. Service is efficient and there is a nice res onsite too. No reason to look for any other hotel in Metz. This is hand down the first choice

This is a very comfortable and relaxed hotel environment at the heart of Metz. We were able to park in the reserved spaces out front of the hotel, but can imagine that parking may be tight at certain times of day as the hotel appears to host business meetings and conferences. For that I imagine it is very good indeed. We stayed only one night on a journey back from Switzerland. Our room was spacious and the beds very comfortable. The hotel has an air of ‘arty minimalism’ it is well presented and manifests as an ultra modern high tech place housed within an historic building. The reception desk was a table with a laptop, nothing ornate, but all that was needed. Even the wood effect door cards reflect that latest locking and unlocking tech. The only minor disappointment was breakfast. There was plenty of choice but the cooked stuff looked unappetising, but this was a small blot on a good stay. The hotel is perfectly located for a short walk into the shops and the more historical squares that include the covered market and the stunning cathedral.

Hello Tony, Many thanks for taking the time to give us feedback on your stay at our hotel. It was a pleasure to welcome you and we hope you had a wonderful stay in Metz. We are delighted that your stay went well and that you appreciated the hotel's services, which motivates our teams to give their very best. As far as reception is concerned, Accor has decided to modernize the reception area, so there is no longer a desk and our receptionists are mobile. They can handle arrivals and departures directly on smartphones and from anywhere in the lobby, which means we can be quicker and give you possession of your room more quickly, and spend more time giving our customers practical information and advice for their stay in Metz. As for breakfast, we're sorry it didn't live up to your expectations. We offer home-made and local products. There will soon be more choice. We look forward to welcoming you soon. La Citadelle

I stayed two nights at the Hôtel la Citadelle Metz - MGallery in a booked suite with accommodation for four. The staff were great and the property in a very good location close to the Christmas markets and about 10 minutes walking to the Gothic cathedral of Saint-Etienne. The property is a former military citadel with ramparts and impressive stone edifice. Inside, the decor is soft and welcoming. There’s a trendy bar and restaurant inside along with free parking on the street. Breakfast iss good—a mix of healthier European fare and artery-clogging American-style breakfasts.

Stayed one night as a stopover on drive through to Italy. Very quiet and comfortable but generic and soulless. However super location, being very close to the motorway but also within walking distance of the old town, coupled with good secure parking were what we needed. Don’t bother with breakfast unless you need to - expensive and basic- but the buffet layout in a tiny cramped area is not conducive to either a relaxed start to the day nor a speedy eat and go.

Dear Susan, Thank you for taking the time to give us feedback on your past experience at our hotel, La Citadelle. Customer satisfaction is very important to us and our staff do their best every day to satisfy you and offer a quality service. We are delighted that you enjoyed the location of the hotel, close to Metz city centre and the motorway, as well as our car park. Concerning the breakfast, we propose two formulas, the first one is a buffet breakfast at 22 euros per person, the second one is an express breakfast at 12 euros only in the room, proposing: a hot drink, a fruit juice and pastries or breads with jams, honey and spreads. Our products are home-made and local. We look forward to welcoming you again during a new stopover in Metz. Have a nice day.
