Hotel looks very bad from the outside. Lobby not really appealing. The room is clean, comfortable and convenient. Breakfast is good. Rooms are too hot. Airco is blowing, but not cooling the room. Requested reception if they could fix this. When returning they said it was fixed. However, same temperature. They offered other room, but this airco is also not cooling. So, either they have turned off the airco in the winter for complete hotel or it's just a very bad airco. Problem is you cannot open a window.

Very friendly attendants and very good and silent rooms. Only negative remarks are breakfast very expensive in relation to food and quality, and parking which is not inside (but the railway station one is close and safe).

I had actually booked another hotel for my weekend stay where I had stayed twice before but had seen the Mercure Centre Gare on previous visits so decided to stop by and see what they could offer as it was just a one minute walk from the Place Thiers exit of the train station. It's about a 10 minute walk from the hotel to Place Stanislas. There is a paying underground car park in front of the station. I received an excellent welcome from Bibiane at reception who immediately gave me an upgrade without any fuss as I'm a Gold Club Accor member so I cancelled my stay at the other hotel, smart move on her side as l will be back. She and her colleague Paul at reception looked after me throughout my stay which made it really pleasant. The housekeeper Marie helped me to my suite with my suitcase and was really friendly. I had a spacious one-room carpeted suite on the 6th floor. The hotel has 7 floors and the suites are all at the end looking up a hill. From one side of the other rooms you have a view of Place Thiers. There was a bathtub and a walk-in shower in the bathroom and there was a separate toilet. The main room had a table, armchair, footstool and big couch with a large flat screen TV. The bed and pillows were really comfortable and I slept very well both nights. There is a small exercise room on the lower ground floor with a Technogym treadmill, cross trainer and Unica multifunctional bench. I had dinner in the restaurant on Friday night and was taken care of by Alexis and Quentin, one of whom kindly went to find an extension cable for my laptop. The food was fine and the breakfast the following morning was very good. The restaurant is closed on Saturday and Sunday but you can still have breakfast. On Sunday I had lunch at the Excelsior brasserie just behind the hotel which is a real old-fashioned brasserie with an oyster counter and even if it's a bit expensive, I recommend it. Thankyou to everyone who made my stay so pleasant, looking forward to seeing you all again.

Although travelling extensively, I noticed the excellent bedding. Quiet room that could however benefit from a second door. Great breakfast and stunning views over Nancy. Location is most convenient for either driving in, training out... as well as for a gentle stroll in the old town or choosing from a wide range of restaurants nearby.

First tip: To find the hotel, follow signage to Place Thiers (parking garage) or SNCF gare. Hotel has a little pull-in where you can drop your bags, check-in, then drive right into the garage long-term parking. (€20/day). This hotel has the best air-conditioning of any Accor hotel I've stayed in in Europe. 85 degrees outside the day we arrived, and the A/C was already on in our room so that it was already cool for us. That was fantastic! We had a "Privilege Room," which was still small, but with a comfy bed and pillows, robe and slippers. There's a mini-bar, but you can fit a few items in it, too. I'm an Accor Gold member, and received a "Birchbox" as a welcome gift!!! Bathroom toiletry amenities are: bar hand soap, combo body wash/shampoo hung in shower, shower cap, lotion, shoe shine, sewing kit, cotton swabs/pads. Decent storage in the bathroom for your toiletries, a makeup mirror, and a real 220 V. outlet (not the "Shavers Only"). The hairdryer is not attached to the wall, but you have to hold a button to keep it blowing. The shower is not fully-enclosed (covers only about 2/3 of the opening), but enough that you won't splash out. The glass is so clear that's it's easy to hit accidentally. Perhaps a stripe on the edge would make it easier to see? I agree with another reviewer that the shower soap bottle is extremely hard to squeeze. Suggestion to Mercure: Can you start using bottles that are lighter plastic and easier to use? Room has a Keurig coffee maker (and a kettle). My suggestion is to have more creamers and artificial sugar packets in the set up, and tea drinkers might like some black (non-herbal) tea bags. All the staff was wonderful. Special kudos to Paul (front desk), so cheerful, friendly, and helpful. The bartender is also very nice, too. As we were over 60, we were given free breakfast (the desk clerk said that was standard in all Mercures in France, but I may have misunderstood him), and it was delicious and plentiful. Don't miss the tasty cheeses. Location is perfect for sightseeing. I highly recommend this hotel, and we will defintely stay here again if we ever come back to Nancy.
