We stayed here for one night a few days before the hotel/restaurant's closing for the season and happily discovered that apart from a few guests for lunch, we had the entire property to ourselves. A long lazy lunch sitting out in the courtyard area set the tone for a wonderfully mellow afternoon around the pool listening to fantastic music (as... More

We were in Uruguay in mid January and decided to spend 24 hours at Francis Mallmans restaurant hotel First it is much better value to stay at his hotel and have lunch dinner and breakfast This is in the interior and a expensive just for lunch but better value for a stay The rooms are done with charm and notable... I arrived without a booking, and despite it being full, teh staff went out of their way to accomodate me. The food surpassed my expectations, the service was first-rate, and the setting and design exquisite. The albarino from Garzon is well worth ordering, and ranks possibly as my favorite Uruguayan wine.

My wife and I stayed at Garzon as a special treat for our babymoon and found it to be a foodie delight. Eating at the restaurant without staying there can be expensive and it's really a much better value to stay the night for two people because you receive three meals (plus drinks, the local Garzon Bodega wines) included in... We loved the hotel:- the decor was exquisite, the intimate layout of the patio was a delight... Been wanting to go for a couple of years & finally made it.... Our main courses were a disapoinment as both the lamb & the steak were very tough.. Shame as everything else was wonderful... Fabulous place for a romantic get away!

My husband and I stayed here for one night on our way to Jose Ignacio. We had learned about Garzon from Anthony Bourdain's Uruguay episode and being big foodies, we decided lunch wouldn't be enough - we wanted the full experience. We were not disappointed. The property is beautiful - impeccably decorated in the middle of a funky old town... More

Luckily we didn't read the reviews prior to booking a spur of the moment anniversary overnight in this quaint and romantic little boutique hotel. We were acquainted with two of Malmann's restaurants, having had great meals at his place in Mendoza and a failure of a meal at his (former) place in Jose Ignacio. We went with no expectations and... I only read the reviews once we were at Hotel Garzon, arriving less than a week after the disappointed Canadians, and whilst every hotel can't please all of the people all of the time, we had a delightful stay, but I can sympathise with some of the comments in the last review. We stayed for 4 nights and as the... More

We were staying in Montevideo and heard this was worth the trip. After 3 days of not being able to reach them due to their Internet being down, we finally reached them by phone. They sent a form for us to wire $750 US to a New York city account to reserve a room for one night at Hotel Garzon.... More

The town itself is tiny, picturesque, tranquil - the kind of place people don't lock there doors. The chef and owner of the hotel, Francis Mallman, is the Don of the town and has brought several foreigners to buy in the area. The hotel is beautiful, full of back copies of the New Yorker to ponder while you let time... More
