La Maison d’Uzès sits perfectly in the centre of the glorious town of Uzes. Behind its emblematic and noble facade, over three centuries of history are revived today in this 12-roomed boutique hotel boasting an intimate and warm atmosphere. After four years of careful renovation, a new chapter in the long and rich history of La Maison d’Uzès begins. Now transformed into a charming and intimate hotel, La Maison d’Uzès has regained all its splendour. Led by Ariel Balmassière, architect at Monuments Historiques and Marie-José Tavares, interior designer, the building works have uncovered ancient features which have added to the historical charm. The twelve bedrooms, laid out around the majestic stairway, are light and airy, spread over two floors each boasting picturesque views over the rooftops and gardens of Uzès.

A gorgeous boutique hotel set on a quiet street in beautiful Uzès. Our suite was wonderfully decorated and appointed, the staff were attentive and professional, especially offering valet parking, and the food…! A thoroughly memorable stay to celebrate my husband’s “significant” birthday.

Really cool building updated to a luxury hotel perfectly located tucked down a side street making it easy to walk all around the lovely town. Staff was top rate, professional, friendly and knowledgable. We had a little trouble find the side street to drive to the front of the hotel, no problem at all, a staff member raced out to meet our car and direct us. Whole team really went above and beyond to make for a great stay. Highly recommend

Great property. Use of the spa was an additional fee however. Considering the high cost of rooms here, that seemed excessive. I would think it would be included as at other Relais hotels I have stayed at. Also only a bathtub in the room, no shower. Would have preferred shower.

We enjoyed our stay, mainly due to the quality of the bed, the central location and what Uzes have to provide… but our stay could have been so much better I am sure: - indications in the city to help us find our way (thanks to the local lady that helped us to finally locate the hotel and its entrance). - no proper welcome when we entered the property (I only discovered the next day the welcome drink). - a hair in the bathtub. - a very small, if not inexistant, set of guest amenities (nothing at all for the kids?!?!). - a breakfast buffet set up that is limited to the minimum (we enjoyed but I believe this could be elevated by additional offers like crepes).

Each phase of the 6 dish dinner was exceptional. The Roman bath and accompanying massage totally relaxing. Room comfort fine but furnishings need attention. The reception desk staff were courteous and most helpful and there was the highest level of professionalism throughout the establishment.

Had I written this review last night while staying at the hotel it would have been two stars. The wifi wasn’t working, the water for the shower was tepid, the pre dinner Kir was simply crème de cassis and the waiter in the one star Michelin restaurant had never heard of Grand Marnier. I know these things happen but when you’re paying a lot of money for a five star hotel you can become quite diva like (at least I can). We cancelled our second night assuming we’d have to take the hit on being charged for it. However. This morning after hot showers and a walk around the beautiful town of Uzes and it’s Saturday market, I was astonished and frankly very pleased that the hotel had taken in our complaints. They didn’t charge us for the second night and gave us a discount on the first night due to the various issues. I didn’t ask for these things and was genuinely extremely impressed that they were so proactive. So much so, we will definitely return. I’d also like to make mention of the valet (Yasin?) who came to find us when we got lost driving to the hotel and was extremely helpful throughout.

Dear Sir, We really thank you for leaving this very interesting review on our hotel. You summarize exactly the difficulties of our profession in this industry. Sometimes something goes wrong for different reasons in the journey of a costumer, unfortunately it happens even to the best. But if a discussion is held and If we are warned about the problem but we can try to fix the issues and do our best to make sure that the stay goes well again. I'm sorry we couldn't keep you with us but I really hope we will have the chance to welcome you again. Sincerely, Jérôme Lheriteau Directeur

This is a lovely enough hotel, and I emailed (and called) a number of times before our trip (it was my husband's birthday and I wanted to ensure something special). Throughout the emails, the woman thanked me for letting her know and assured me they would be attentive to something special. We checked in (warning, this place is very hard to access via car) and had three rooms (two singles and one double). I made all the reservations/arrangements. Out of the three rooms, we (the couple) were assigned to the very smallest (in fact, one of our single friends traded rooms with us because there was really no room for two people in the first room). I mentioned this to the front desk, who simply shrugged. There was absolutely no mention of a happy birthday (I told them I would be happy to pay for champagne, etc.) NOTHING Again, no excuse given. Their restaurant was closed so they made arrangements for us at another in town....it was adequate, but no where near what I expected for a special birthday occasion. The restaurant was not informed of the special occasion. I truly ould not have been more disappointed. This hotel is not worth the extra cost...we had much more "special" experiences at a number of other locations throughout France

Dear Qsmamo, Thank you so much for your comment, I really feel sorry we didn’t make any special attention for your husband birthday, even if our restaurant was on weekly closure, we should have been more careful and welcoming as we usually are. It was as well easy to mention this to the restaurant we booked for you and I regret we misunderstood how special this occasion was for you. I am surprised that no Champagne of welcome fruit basket was proposed at reservation stage and I will be very careful so that lack of attention and communication never happens again. A lot of our client come to la Maison d’Uzès for a special occasion and we are usually very careful to propose a personalized welcome matching their expectations. I have checked at the price paid for the superior room and I didn’t have the feeling that 171 € is an “extra cost” further more we upgraded one of the deluxe room booked to a Junior Suite and offered the parking, and I regret you didn’t mention it in your comment. Sincerely, Françoise Mirebeau
