We have just had a fantastic week staying at Chateau Haute Fontaine. As other reviewers have said it is a working vineyard so do not expect five star luxury and clinical surroundings. But you don't need it because the location is beautiful - in the countryside surrounded by vines but close to Narbonne and the sea. Penny and Paul were brilliant hosts,full... More

We stayed in Les Lavender, a 2 person apartment/gite on this lovely working vineyard. Penny and Paul were very friendly and extremely enthusiastic hosts, nothing was too much trouble and the tour of the wine making process by Paul both informative and interesting. A welcome pack, so often ignored by many providers these days was, in fact very welcome indeed,... More

For all the people that have given negative reviews can we please remember that the Chateau Haute Fontaine is a working vineyard on the Mediterranean coast in the middle of the French countryside. You expect dust, cobwebs, and small creatures that bite. If not you need to get booked in to a 4 star hotel in some northern hotel. For... More

I have read with interest previous reviews and can tell you this: Don't come here if you want a soulless clinically clean holiday apartment. Don't come here if you are afraid of flies, wasps and mosquitoes. Don't come here if you really don't like cats. Don't come here if you want shops in walking distance. However please: Do come here... We stayed for 2 nights last week in the chambres d'hôte part of the chateau. Penny and Paul were extremely welcoming and friendly, the rooms and communal area very well equipped, and the beautiful château in a perfect location for exploring the coast. The nicest local village we found was Peyriac de Mer, which is just down the road with... More

We have just returned from our amazing holiday staying at Merlot on this very beautiful Chateau. Penny and Paul made us feel so very welcome and could'nt do enough for us they are the perfect hosts. Narbonne town is well worth a visit, as is Fontfroide Abb,Gruissan Old town, la Franqui-Plage, Canal de Midi and the locks at Foncerannes. We... More

Our family of four (children 4 and 7 years old) stayed in the Les Genets Gite at Chateau Haute Fontaine for a week during August 2013 and had a most wonderful holiday. The accommodation was perfect for us, roomy and charming with a well equipped kitchen and two bedrooms, double for us and twin for the kids. The adjacent grounds... More

We have just returned from a week in the Les Genets gite, and loved every moment of it. Les Genets has a double bedroom and a twin bedroom, as well as a spacious and well equipped kitchen/living room. The bathroom has a shower and twin sinks. There's a reasonably private area outside area, where we ate most of our meals,... More

I can only assume that the previous reviewers are friends of the owners. My husband and I rented a gite called Les Lavendes for a week here in July. There is so much that could be said about this that it is difficult to know where to begin. The standard is not what I expected given the cost of rental.... More

My husband & I had the two bedroom gites, "Les Lavandes" - plenty of space, used the 2nd bedroom to store all our luggage etc. (part of a three week tour) - we stayed here for a week. We are hoping to return next year for two weeks. (There is still so much to see and visit.) We were greeted... More
