Strange , strong smell on levels 2 and 3, not detectible in rooms. The area is residential but there are a couple of good bars and restaurants 100meters away on the river. Food was good. And the staff was nice. Best thing is a real pool and gym just over the road.

Stayed here for five days visiting Montpellier and area. Wonderful staff but hotel bedrooms badly in need of refurbishment . Unpleasant smell in corridors and dirty carpets. Breakfast good but slightly disorganised. Perhaps more staff needed?

Not sure how this Mercure was given a 4 star rating but, I would say it was more a 3 star. The rooms are 'ok' but nothing special. They give you a soap dispenser in the shower with a combo of body/shampoo and two small bars of soap - nothing else. They also give you paper and plastic drink cups... More

Thankfully, we only spent one night here. The rooms were minimal, at best, and the only toiletries consisted of one bottle of previously opened/used body and hair wash hanging in the shower. The rooms were supposedly air conditioned, but we were unable to control or 'turn on' the AC - the only air movement was when we opened our windows... More

The hotel is older, plain and without much character. But it was nicely updated and fine for one quick night. There were many outlets for electronics. The bed was comfortable and we got a great night's sleep. The showers are the kind Americans are not used to with a shower wall about 2 feet wide so you must squeeze into... More

First night - entered into someone else's room. Came down to front desk and he was more than accommodating and apologized for the mistake. Said he would upgrade but nothing available. Next day we were upgraded. Second floor smelt like fish due to fish dinner on Friday. Not the best smell. The hallway carpets had a strong perfumes odor as... More

We spent a month travelling through France staying at Accor hotels (Sofitels, Novotels and Mercures) and Mercure Antigone was 'streets behind'. Other than the elevator (which was brand spanking new), the room and it's fittings were dated. The air conditioning unit, probably from the 1970s when Antigone was developed, only had 3 fan settings and no temperature control. It got... More

The staff here are very competent and friendly but they are let down by a tatty hotel long past its sell-by date. The rooms are metal-doored cells that had some cursory interior decoration some time ago. God help you if you're sleeping and someone else's iron door slams nearby. There is no air-conditioning and as the hotel is effectively built... More

The hotel is a typical business hotel. Rooms are good, but not very good. The staff is friendly and the service is all right. Breakfast is good, but quite expensive. The location is good, on walking distance from the old city center and on the border of the Antigone district, what is a remarkable part of the city. All together... More

I do not think the 4 stars are representative for this hotel. I stayed here for a couple of nights only. The hotel is not very close to the city center, approx 10 mins by taxi. The main challenge this hotel has was the fact that the room did not make me feel like I was in a four star... More
