Room was a decent size overlooking the swimming pool. Staff were professional and helpful. Very central for a visit to the medieval and new city and not too far to the canal du midi. Carcassonne is stunning! Hoping to return soon so we can explore the area more. There was a music festival in when we visited, however (unfortunately) we... More

Clean, comfortable, good parking, easy walking distance to the old city (5 minutes). Good restaurant, eat on pleasant patio if you want, not a cheap menu but well prepared and we were armed that the Cassoulet was enough to share between two. Plenty of eating places in old city if you prefer. Good breakfast. Worth booking well in advance to... More

For the price I'd say this wasn't really worth it. Great location for la Cite. breakfast was perfectly fine with a reasonable choice.. Small room with tiny window and plastic cups for coffee was awful with condensed milk! No fridge. Rooms could do with an update/refresh. Hallways dark, depressing. Dining room v pleasant and bar ok also. I just don't... More

The Mercure Porte de la Cite is very conveniently located, within about 5 mins walk from the attraction. Parking was free and secure. Reception was efficient, but room availability as a policy isn't until 15.00. Reasonably warm greeting at reception, but the staff member didn't seem to recognise Accor card holder' entitlements, despite being provided with the card. Room adequate... More

We liked the hotel which is walking distance from the medieval city and which has a swimming pool which is great in the hot Southern France summer. The price was on the high side, but it is because of the season, I believe. We would definitely come back in the low season though!

We had passed Carcassonne many times and had never had the opportunity to stay there until this last trip. We chose the Mercure because of how close it was to the Cite, and that is its only redeeming feature. We did have a room facing the cite but it was small. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room but... More

Luxury & space in a reasonably priced hotel can be quite a novelty in France! The Mercure had this in spades! Excellent location just below the entrance to the beautiful Old Town & Castle demesne of Carcassonne. Breakfast was self-service & V good. Dinner menu a little limited for those with a conservative pallet/children. Staff were extremely helpful. Great Carpark... More

Stayed here for one night and was quite pleased. The staff were welcoming and friendly and previous communication with the hotel was very effective. Lovely pool with a bar. Great choice of food for breakfast. Location was perfect - just a five minute walk from the old town. Ideal. Only negative, the room was a bit small but big enough... More

This property would rate 3 star at best in most countries. Rooms were clean and well organised but are compact. Air conditioning failed on first night. Rectified next day with a change of room. Inconvenience we did not need. Restaurant was promising with staff trying hard and a nice outlook onto the garden but the kitchen let it down with... More
