Simply outstanding in every way. The location in the walled city is unbeatable. The staff are so incredibly professional and friendly. Nothing is too much trouble. The view from the rear upper floor rooms overlooks the courtyard and into the distance. Breathtaking.

Lovely hotel in the Carcassonne city. Very centrally located near the church. Superb breakfast. There’s a man at the concierge we spoke perfect English and was extremely friendly and helpful showing us around the hotel. There’s a cafe just next to the hotel selling lovely cakes and local produce , staff there was super helpful as well. You can watch the sunset at the hotel alfresco bar seating. One bad experience is we emailed the hotel multiple times to arrange for taxi to the hotel as we are arriving at the train station but there’s no response. We have to call them (expensive paid call as we do not have France line). It will be nice for them to offer transfer even if it’s paid

This hotel is inside the city walls, steps from the Cathedral and has views from the garden and my room of the city walls. It's breathtaking and incredibly romantic. The front desk is super helpful and breakfast was great. Amazing Garden in the back where you can sit in the sun and even have a small pool. The one thing I would note, is while my room was super nice and big, it was just a little tired. Not much, but, could use a refreshing in the next few years. Does not change the way I feel about the hotel It was a treat to stay at such a lovely and unique place.

The hotel is built into what was the bishop's Palace of the nearby cathedral.It is literally built against the city walls and there are magnificent views from most rooms and the gardens. The service in the hotel is good and in the restaurant, Excellent.

My wife and I had the most wonderful stay at the Hotel de la Cite. The hotel has a great location in the heart of the walled city, which is perfect for exploring Carcassonne, and we were given an amazing room that had a view of the ramparts from our balcony. The buffet breakfast was very tasty and they catered for my gluten-free requirements. The staff (who spoke very good English and were tolerant of my limited French) were very helpful. I am only sorry that we did not book a longer stay. We will definitely come back!

We have stayed here before and returned with a large family group for a night stopping over. It is very well situated and the children in particular very much enjoyed staying inside the city walls. The rooms were very comfortable, breakfast catered for the children well (as well as the adults) and arrangements for our group's luggage coming and going were smooth. The person on duty in the morning in particular was excellent. We have given this a four rather than a five as we did have some minor glitches before we arrived. Without going into detail, we were led to believe we had a dinner reservation for the whole group which did not eventuate and got no responses to our follow ups. These things happen and it may be that something came up for the person dealing with it as the service we otherwise received was very good. We had a delightful two night stay here. Our room was spacious and extremely comfortable. The service throughout our stay was exemplary. Breakfast was of a very high standard. The bar was welcoming. Our dinner was superb, couldn’t be faulted.

I feel obliged to highlight how magnificent this Hotel is and how superb our short stay was. The room we had (216) was incredible. Spotless, beautiful, superb views from our private balcony and the bed was honestly the most comfortable we have ever slept in. Every detail was carefully considered from the art to toiletries. However, the staff added a touch of magic. They were all so genuinely helpful and kind but Mathild on reception stood out, she could not be kinder. Aoude (apologies for spelling) ran the restaurant superbly and she, along with our waiter Brian were absolutely superb. All three are a credit to the hotel and I would be proud to have them as members of my own staff. I have to mention the restaurant, Barbacane. The food was among the very best we have ever had the pleasure to taste. Absolutely outstanding. I am so sad to have left but can promise you we will be back. This place deserves every star it has, and more. Extremely clean and well-appointed, the best and most welcoming service we've ever had, and of course a wonderful location. It was a bit of a splurge for us, but we are so glad we stayed there, as it was a wonderful experience. Our room even had a lovely, expansive balcony with a table, chairs, and lots of room to relax. Two small recommendations -- more electrical plugs that are easy to reach and more hooks on which to hang towels. Oh, and some way to keep the shower water from splashing all over the floor!

The hotel service in general is very personal and efficient. Celine was very welcoming and took care of all our needs from spa bookings to restaurant and wine recommendations. The bar is outstanding and the signature cocktail “Rigalo Spritz” is prepared by an award winning bartender named Jerome. The beds , bedding and pillows are perfect. The towels and robes are luxuriously plush. The view over the valley from our room was breathtaking. The spa , although not overly fancy it is new and very clean with a simple aesthetic. The products and spa services are heavenly. Honestly the best I’ve ever had and I’ve been to a lot of spas . Overall I can say tgis historic area was interesting to explore but the hotel and Michelin rated restaurant are worth planning a special visit. Bring good walking shoes as the cobblestone streets although charming are best traversed in sensible shoes :) …
