I want to start by pointing out that any reference to this establishment as a hotel or any other kind of accommodating establishment is an insult to all others in the local area! Now don't get me wrong... I didn't expect much when we booked in to the Hipotel at reasonable price of £90 for 3 nights. I was expecting...

I'm not sure how to start this review... We arrived a few hours before the check in time and we decided to ask guys on the reception if we could leave our rucksack in the luggage room even if our room was not ready yet. They said we should come back to the train station and leave the bags there....

I don't even know where to start from. The smell, the stains everywhere (in the ceiling!!), the condition of stuff they have in the room... The person at front desk took 5 minutes to finish whatever he was doing and then another 5 minutes giving the key. When we entered the room, it didn't look that bad. Then the smell...

No cleaning prior to arrival. Floor was sticky, curtains was stained, blanket on bed was stained, toilet had faeces in it, broken glass on the floor under bed, floortiles loose all over, mold in the bathroom, no closet just a shelf, only one power outlet, bed is on rollers and very hard with springs sticking in your back, 2 hours...

Very rude staff, although the room was cheap the staff almost ruined my holiday. Came back one night and I was put in a different room. Great area though, a little run down but had a real local feel to it. Great bars and very cheap

The location is really great, near by metro station, markets and chinese restaurants. But the quality was poor, not really clean, the shower very small, and the environment was uncomfortable and uncosy. The staff was friendly and helpful.

The room was absolutely dreadful & just plain crummy. The pictures were not accurate at all: the room looked nothing like we expected. In the first room the bed was not even made; the pillows were just thrown on there & we were not given a blanket, only a sheet. We complained about the bed & the man behind the...

So, this is the cheapest hotel in Paris probably. However, the dirt in the rooms and bathrooms and the attitude of the employees is making this place not worth even half of that. It was assumed that we must know French, and after having problems with the payment, we were chased out of the hotel instead of providing us with...

Staying in Canal Saint-Martin

Neighborhood Profile
Canal Saint-Martin
The tree-lined Canal Saint-Martin is the focal point of one of the most romantic and hip areas of Paris. Watch boats travel along the canal while lovers and friends take in the atmosphere from the banks or the bridges. Evenings see hoards fill the embankments to drink wine and enjoy good company. The colder days lead people to hipster bars, cozy restaurants, and concert spaces. Those who are more adventurous may explore hidden gems down nearby streets, from local bars to futuristic architecture. With its enriching mix of people of all ages and backgrounds, this neighborhood has a dynamic, inspiring vibe.
