The Chess Hotel opened in 2014 in one of the most prestigious areas of Paris. Located close to the Opera, La Madeleine, the Grands Magasins department stores, and La Bourse, the Paris stock exchange, it is a unique establishment in many ways. Firstly, it astonishes with its compelling aesthetics. It boasts an original design by Gilles and Boissier, which makes striking use of beautiful materials such as linen, oak and Carrara marble. It features the bold and innovative artwork of Cyprien Chabert. From the curvaceous furniture and quality fabrics to the hues of the wood and the shape of the fixtures, no detail was left to chance. A harmonious and elegant decor has been created that is like no other. While chic and refined, the Chess Hotel is also distinguished by its welcoming and cosy atmosphere, which transforms each room into a true haven. The heart of the city beats just beyond our doorstep. Yet somehow the hotel seems miles away from any hustle and bustle. Travellers are invited to enjoy absolute relaxation. A game of chess by the fire or a quiet hour's reading on the inner terrace. Perhaps an evening spent in blissful privacy amidst the original decor and intimate atmosphere of your room. After long hours of work, or a busy day's sightseeing, you will appreciate the calm and gentle ambience of the Chess Hotel. The Chess Hotel is also exceptional in terms of facilities and services. It is a place distinguished by our efficient, yet warm and gracious, hospitality. It is a place that transcends routine. We are proud that our guests are so much more to us than simply clients. It is a charmingly friendly hotel which places an accommodating and helpful team at the disposal of all guests. We are pleased to provide personalised services and thoughtful recommendations for discovering the treasures of Paris, allowing you to venture off the beaten paths of the capital.

The hotel is very well located, a block from the Opera where you have several metro lines and the area is very nice to walk. It is also close to the Gare du Nord if you arrive by train or by RER B from the airport. The rooms were very well appointed and of good size and the breakfast was very nice. Prior to my arrival I contacted the hotel with several requests and I want to congratulate their manager Pierre-Louis for all his professionalism, always responding and attending very quickly to my requests.

Intesting little hotel in a good location. Clean and spacious rooms. The Entrance to the hotel is on the first floor accessed by a single lift, which all could do with some refurbishment as it looks very tired and shabby. Otherwise a nice experience with helpful friendly staff .

We stayed for 3 nights in April with our 4 month-old daughter. The hotel was really well-placed close to The Metro for easy access from CDG. When we arrived we were warmly greeted by Davide, and then the Manager, who went out of their way to get a room ready early for us owing to having a baby. The room itself was great, a lot bigger than we expected and the bed was exceptionally comfortable. All of the staff could not have been more friendly or helpful. Will certainly be coming back.

We stayed here for a full week. The location is excellent. 10 Minutes walk to Galleries Fayette. There is an excellent vegan restaurant right next door. We had breakfast there many mornings also the Hotel breakfast is not too bad. The staff were so helpful and speak excellent english. You have to take an elevator from the street level to go to the main lobby to check in. The rooms were not too bad for size and housekeeping was incredible. However there is so much dust in the room, i guess from the age of the hotel that if you peek under the bed you will see many dust bunnies. All in all, it was a pleasant stay at the Chess Hotel.

Dear Roger, All the team would like to join me to sincerely thank you for the great review concerning us and the fact that we are exceptional ! It's non only a real pleasure to welcome back our international guests, but a fantastic feeling when our efforts are appreciated. After 2 years of this terrible period, what an amazing moment. Following your review, I went to the room you occupied, and to be honest, couldn't find any dust bunnies under the bed : it might had prefered to go else where ? I am sincerely sorry if you found your room dusty but with its wooden floor (compare to carpet), even very light dust accumulated between daily cleanings seems to be more obvious. I hope we will have the pleasure to welcome you again in the next future. Pierre-Louis

My daughter & I visited Paris over the Easter holiday & chose the Chess hotel as it gave an impression of character & comfortable accommodation. The location of the Chess Hotel is perfect. Train stations are easily reached & an excellent variety of restaurants, bars & cafes. Plenty of department stores also close by. Our room was soundproofed when the window was closed as the noise from nearby streets can be loud ! The staff were hospitable & very helpful. Not sure if face towels are standard in French hotels but we had to ask every day for those & I got the impression that they were not obliged to provide them. However, plenty of towels & other supplies in the bathroom. Not keen on the wash basin design & water took a long time to drain away. Great shower though & nice hot water. Our room was comfortable with adequate storage. The floor was not always cleaned well with dust visible sometimes. Pleasant breakfast in the dining room every morning. Always spare seating available. Food & drinks/beverages were most enjoyable but we needed to ask for plates & cups every day. However, the staff attended to this at once. Internet connection needs improving.

The room I stayed in was on the 5th floor, facing the street. It was a spacious room (for a Paris hotel) with a small balcony, very comfortable bed and a nice bathroom. The cleanliness was excellent and the amenities sufficient (bath robe, slippers, beaty kit, shampoo, foam bath and body cream). The only problem I encountared was with the breakfast which was served by 7am but actually it was being set up then, so the hot food was actually cold at the time, and sometimes not enough yet. In general, the breakfast could do some improvement in regards of options. The location of the hotel, very close to the Opera is really convenient.

Overall I would recommend this hotel to friends looking to stay in this area of Paris. Even though the rooms are somewhat small, the decor and cleanliness make up for the room size. The beds were comfortable, the rooms and bathrooms were clean and well looked after. The staff was friendly and accommodating, the breakfast was good too in terms of quality and quantity.
