My sister & I just returned from a two week trip to Europe and we stayed at Hotel de la Paix at the beginning and end of our trip (total of 3 nights). I had first read about this hotel in Budget Travel magazine as it being one of 5 ‘secret’ hotels in Paris. The article sounding promising and the...

This hotel is in a great location for easy walking access to countless restaurants in Montparnasse. Less than 1 minute walk to Raspail Metro station gives access to lines going north/south and east/west - you're very quickly at all the key sights. Rooms are small but very pleasant, having air con in the Paris springtime (and summer) was essential. My...

We found the hotel on Tripadvisor and it sounded perfect. It was. The location was absolutely ideal for us. 40 minute train journey from CDG Airport (get off at Port Royal stop) and a 5 minute walk to the hotel. From the hotel, it is then a 30 second walk to the nearest Metro (Raspail) where you can go anywhere...

I went for vacation with my brother and parents, who were visiting Paris for 1st time. After seeing recommendation in Budget Travel, I booked this hotel on their Web site, getting a great "internet-special" deal. We got the "deluxe" rooms, which were a decent size for Paris. Plus: very comfortable beds in newly renovated rooms, A/C, great water pressure and...

If you want a nice room in a convenient location for a reasonable price then I doubt you'll do better than the Hotel De La Paix. The rooms are small, which I understand is usual for Paris, but beautifully furnished and upholstered. The shower room is well appointed with a powerful shower, a large sink and mirror and a hair-dryer....

My wife and I stayed at this beautifully decorated hotel for four nights. The staff could not have been nicer during our entire visit. From helping us with maps, to letting us drop our bags (and delivering them to our room while we were exploring), to our breakfast service each morning - terrific! Great location, extremely quiet, and perfectly charming...

We stayed at the Hotel de la Paix for 3 nights in March. What a lovely change from hotel chains: the decor is fresh and original, the hotel staff was friendly and courteous and the location very good - just a block away from the metro direct to Gare du Nord and to the Airport. Would highly recommend it to...

This hotel was very charming and sweet! The decor was cute and the value was great for what you got! While not a four seasons, when I travel to Europe I am rarely in the hotel room anyway! The staff was very pleasant and helpful for the most part! There was one women who became very frusturated when we asked...

Paris being our last stop in mainland Europe before going back to London and then Australia, we did not expect that much from this hotel, but also because we know that we would not be staying much in the hotel anyway because of the enormous amount of tourist attractions in Paris. Upon arrival in Raspail metro station (the closest metro...

The hotel is not bad located and apparently looks nice. But normal rooms are really very very small, and one day we did not get hot water in the morning. They told us, the boiler has a certain quantity of hot water, so when the hotel is full, it can finish! And you pay 95 Euro per night... Moreover, the...

Staying in Montparnasse

Neighborhood Profile
Montparnasse
The namesake tower of Montparnasse dominates over the landscape but the fun part is the throbbing life that goes on below it. Bright lights, busy cinemas, brasseries and diners encompass hidden museums and parks to entertain the masses. Long avenues lead away from the tower to take you to unsuspecting places and historical monuments and treasures. In between lie adorable ivy-covered houses with beams and small gardens to match. Just a short metro ride away from the center of Paris this neighborhood has something for every hour of the day.
