If there was a zero option then that is what this hotel would get. The rooms are sparse and lifeless, tatty and beyond basic. No atmosphere, a bit like being in an insane alsylum! The shower was nicknamed the shower from hell as it flipped from cold to scalding in a flash and wasn’t good enough to risk washing your hair. The bar is accessed through the kitchens and staff areas and resembles a student union bar with frankly disgustingly tasting cocktails made from cheap ingredients and aggressive bar staff, I won’t even mention the noise masquerading as music. BEWARE of the steps out of the bar area that wouldn’t pass health and safety in the UK because of the extremely dangerous ribbon curtain on the edge of a 3step drop directly the other side!! We didn’t risk eating here as we were reluctant to give them any more money. If you are from the UK this hotel does not match any of the standards that it claims to have. This is a big fat AVOID from me, and I never usually leave negative reviews as I prefer to give direct feedback but the staff here were less than interested and became quite aggressive.

Response from Service Clients Réception, Propriétaire at 1K Paris
Responded Oct 26, 2023
Dear Mrs Nicola LOCK, We thank you for your feedback. Regarding your comments about the room, these are equipped with minimalist details, following our very well decorated common areas. We regret that this is not of your taste. With the recent weather changes, it is possible that the temperature regulation was not adequate in your room. We would have loved for you to tell us as soon as you experienced this inconvenience in order for us to promptly assist you, as it is our habitude. Moreover, we are afraid you entirely missed the concept of our hidden bar, as it is hidden and not supposed to be in plain sight. This is why you have to cross the kitchen area in order to access it. La Mezcaleria was named after this ancestral Mexican alcohol : MEZCAL, which we understand if it’s not to everyone's taste, as it is a very sophisticated alcohol and not a good fit for ordinary palates. La Mezcaleria is known for its Latin American vibe, a very trendy and appreciated style by the young generations. Once again, the fact that this is not of your taste doesn’t make it any of the derogatory terms you unfairfully used. During the years of activity of the Mezcaleria bar, we have never encountered any accidents regarding the 3-step stairs. Mrs. Lock, we consider that this unfortunate incident was poorly related to the safety in the hotel and more related to the heated attitude you showed in attempting to leave without paying the bill. For this our staff was deeply concerned and not aggressive, as you wrongfully describe. We can assure you that French security measures and laws are fully respected from our side; however, we cannot say the same regarding the photo you posted of our staff members exposing their identities and safety deliberately without their consent and without a valid reason. We would have very much liked that you could join us at the front desk in order to exchange with any of our staff members or managers, but you chose to leave us without any chance to assist you and then attack us with very impolite and subjective comments. With kind regards, Alejandra from 1K Front Desk & Tamara from 1K Management Team

This is a beautiful hotel in the coolest location in Paris - le Marais. I stayed here for 7 nights on my own with my little dog. Super clean , stylish really big room and bathroom. Fantastic breakfast. The secret bar is Uber cool too. Delicious tacos in the restaurant there…. I’ll stay here whenever I’m in Paris now. Can’t recommend highly enough.

Good quality for low price, compared to other places we got a big room with plenty of space for the whole family. We had two bathrooms. Close to everything you want to see in Paris. Helpful and kind staff, as a foreign it was a big help that everyone was speaking English.

The price was right and the location was great. However, the staff was absolutely incompetent, which made for an unpleasant stay. Also, the AC in our room wasn't working and they couldn't fix it or switch us to a functioning room until a day later. One of the cleaning staff members threw out one of the souvenirs we bought, which was upsetting. Other guests were sharing similar frustrations with the front desk staff in particular, who couldn't even get key cards (after several attempts) working for some rooms.

I stayed for a couple of nights recently on business, we also used the main meeting room at the hotel. The hotel itself has a very unassuming entrance (blink and you miss it !) but it is a lovely small ‘fuss free’ boutique style hotel. The rooms are really nicely appointed, and are a reasonable size for a Paris city centre hotel. I loved the breakfast, which had a really good selection of continental offerings and great coffee ! We also used the bar, which has some ‘interesting’ cocktails - which we very much enjoyed. The meeting facilities were great, with excellent cakes and coffee available in the break out area. The only negative I could think, might be some slight noise from the traffic outside for those lower rooms on the front side of the hotel. I am usually a light (ish) sleeper, and I can imagine that it might bother some… but actually I have to say I slept incredibly well and it didn’t bother me a bit ! This area was a slightly different area of Paris for me and I really enjoyed exploring, when I had the opportunity. The hotel has a Metro literally 25 metres from the hotel, which is very handy indeed ! Overall, a really great hotel that I would recommend!

Poor customer experience, the place is nice but the hotel room didn’t reach a 4* hotel required. The personal was nice but some very condescending towards the customer. I felt unsafe around the area at night. And they where no warm water at the shower on the morning.

Nice little hotel, very good situated in Marais. The breakfast was great, especially that you could chose your own toast every morning. Two different restaurant, a lot of people on Saturday evening but we didn't hear anything and slept well in our room. Would just loved if their where a pair of slippers...otherwise great!

We love staying in the Marais, and while this hotel is on a busy street, it’s a short walk to the more charming areas. The staff was very friendly and the room was spacious and had modern amenities. The breakfast was exceptional and we really enjoyed the fresh pastries, cheeses, meats and fruit. We loved the cool vibe and decor. Would stay here again!
