I was very impressed with the cleanliness and comfort of the room and bathroom. The staff were friendly. The hotel is in a great location for the 2 main railway stations (Gare l'est and Gare du Nord). Access is by buzzer only as the reception is on the 1st floor, a slight inconvenience initially, but i appreciate the security precaution of only allowing guests into the hotel. The signage for the entrance to the hotel needs to be more prominent as the entrance is very small and can be easily missed.Overall a great stay and I will return,
The hotel was lovely and as described by previous visitors; very friendly staff who gave us a fabulous restaurant recommendation nearby, clean and comfortable room with everything you might need, in a great location for the Eurostar!
The receptionist made a mistake by giving me a wrong information, telling me to wait to see the manager who will sort out my concern, it turn up the manager didn’t care that the receptionist made a mistakes, even worst than that the manager didn’t even try to understand me, I was meant to spend 2 night there I just did one, honestly there are better choices elsewhere, they just want you money and they’ll show that to you.
We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It was clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. I asked them several questions about what to see and do around Paris and they were always happy to give recommendations. The location was great. The price was very fair. The only complaint that I have is the bathroom light didn’t work.
A small but lovely little hotel, staff friendly and helpful in a very good location, metro, buses outside, and close to Garde du Nord station very handy for the euro star, this hotel is ideal for a short stay in Paris .Breakfast room small and compact but, breakfast pretty good
We've just returned from a 3 night visit to Paris. We chose the Marcel because I knew the area would be easy to get around. The neighborhood isn't posh, but across the street from Gare De l'est so very easy to maneouvre the metro to anywhere from there. The entrance to the hotel, let's it down. The street is a little grubby and you have to ring to be let in. There's a desk on the ground floor but it its not always manned. When you don't know where you're going its a little daunting. But once you're inside. its warm and clean. Reception on the first floor is manned 24 hours a day if you need anyone. The hotel is petite. A small reception area with coffee and an aperatif is available should you want one. We arrived a few hours early so our room wasn't available. The staff kindly held our bags and delivered them to our room when it was ready, while we went sightseeing. When we got back in the late afternoon, the room was ready and a welcome refuge. Although it was small, it had everything we needed. The bed was clean and extremely comfortable. Plenty of clean towels. Robes and slippers. Paris was quite cold, but the room temperature was nice and toasty without having to turn on the heating. The window opened out on to the street for fresh air, and even though the hotel is on a busy road across from the station, it was not noisy. My french is limited and whenever I needed any assistance with directions or Metro alerts, the staff were always very accommodating. Breakfast was included and it was quite tasty. A selection of cold meats and cheeses. Yogurts, cereal, Freshly made, scrambled eggs, bacon, and sausage. Coffee, juices, and bottled water. Lovely french bread too. The dining room is small, but whether it was busy or quiet it was just fine. It seemed it was all couples. On our second day, we left the DND sign on the door and I was sent an email from the hotel to confirm if this was correct before attemtping to go into the room or leaving it unattended. I really appreciated this little touch from Izabel. We had only been there a night, so I emailed them back to say to leave it. I did appreciate them asking. I do recommend this for couples who need a comfortable place to sleep and a good location to set off for sightseeing, rather than families.…
My wife, daughter and I stayed for 3 nights in a junior suite and it was just what we wanted. Very central, with helpful and friendly staff. The hotel was clean, efficient and comfortable. I would definitely stay here again. Some reviews have criticised the location for feeling not very safe. This was not our experience at all. We were also on the 6th floor and heard no road noise whatsoever. The breakfast was a good start for the day.
This is the next level in clever use of space. Was whisked off for a 48 hour romantic break with my other half for a belated birthday. Cracking breakfast facilities, and wonderful continental breakfast with coffee very french. Great base to explore from. Located next to a metro station and across the road from Gare du l'Est. All major landmarks within less than 10 minute travelling. The hosts were lovely and nothing was any trouble. Lots of stairs but there was a lift. Can't wait to go back!
We took the Eurostar from London and stayed at Le Marcel for 4 nights. It was an easy walk from Gare Du Nord and the hotel was well situated for transportation. The staff was friendly, helpful and professional. Our room was more than adequate. It was clean, comfortable and quiet, as it was on the back of the building. Breakfast was very nice, with lots of lovely pastries. The only negative for this hotel was that the neighborhood was a little "dodgy" as it was located in a transportation area.
We stayed at Le Marcel for 4 nights. We arrived via Eurostar at Gare Du Nord and, with a quick check of the map, we found the hotel after only a 5 minute walk. The hotel entrance is small and next to Burger King, but always has someone downstairs to welcome you in. After checking in which was quick, with helpful staff, we were shown to our room. It was a little small but did the job for a few nights stay. The bed was comfortable and the shower was excellent, along with the shower gels provided which were very nice. Breakfast was nice although the dining hall is small. There is a limited supply of hot for (scrambled eggs, sausages and bacon) but a range of delicious pastries - I would recommend the chocolate filled donuts! The location of the hotel is great for traveling as it is right next to the Gare du l'est, hop on hop off service and Paris bus routes. It is also a 40 minute walk down the road to the river front. The area is okay, not the best in Paris, but not the worst. There are a few restaurants and bars along the street, however, as it is near the station and bus routes it does get very busy and at night, particularly around 9pm it was very noisy with sirens and car horns, however we soon realised you hear that all over Paris! We did have to ask twice for a light bulb to be fixed in our bathroom, and after the first night we were told the air con couldn't be set on cold as the heating was on, which was unfortunate as the room did get hot in the evenings. Overall, the hotel was ideal for us to explore Paris for a few days.…
