Your accommodation in the Hôtel Magendie is ideally situated to discover Paris. In a quiet district close to the picturesque Butte aux Cailles, you are only a stone's throw from the Latin Quarter, the heart of student life, and from Montparnasse, the traditional painters' district. Leave your car in the car park and make the most of the bus, metro and RER, with stations close to the hotel, to explore the capital.

Clean room and friendly staff.
The Metro is 10 min away (Bus Station 5) but as a solo traveller I felt safe the whole time.
Breakfast was OK.
The room was very small but enough space for all the luggage.

We have really enjoyed our stay at this hotel and think that at this price range this is the best choice for your stay in Paris :) The location is very quiet and peaceful but not that far from the city centre and main sights. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Although the room was quite small, it was very clean and enough for our 5-day stay. Another highlight was the breakfast - a little bit monotonous but perfect to start the day :) Highly recommend!

We stayed in the Belambra Magendie in late October 2022 for 3 nights to explore Paris. Our 3 bed room was not too small. Beds were good, room equipment was (as expected) between hostel and hotel level but everything clean and working with reliable room service. Fine if you are anyhow out for the whole day. Hotel WiFi worked well. Staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was (as expected) simple but fine: Baguette, Croissants, Pain au Chocolat, toasted wafers, 1 sort of cheese, 1 sort of sliced sausage, yoghurt, cereals, fruit, butter, honey, marmalade, 3 kinds of juice ... as much as you liked. Coffee was from the machine but good. Just the breakfast room is too small for this 116 rooms hotel so that you might have to wait for a free table when showing up after 8 AM with more than 2 persons.
Hotel is in a quiet and secure quarter and is 5 to 7 minutes walk to metro stations, e.g. for line 6 to Eiffel tower, and just 1 line 6 station to change metro trains at Place d'Italie for Gare du Nord or Gare de l'Est. Disneyland can be reached via RER A train from station Nation where mentioned metro line 6 ends. Good but reasonably priced restaurants, mini markets and a bakery are in 5-10 minutes walking distance. Just ask the well English speaking reception where to find them.
Paris is not a cheap place, so Hotel Belambra Magendie of course isn't either. But overall, we have had worse but more expensive hotels in Paris so we can recommend this hotel and would return.

Very basic equipment (3 beds, 3 bedside tables, 1 chair, 1 TV - hung under the ceiling (French TV channels), 1 built-in wardrobe with broken veneer) in a very small room.
Bathroom no more than 1.5 square meters: plastic sink from the 1990s with stains, drain defective, shower suspension defective, toilet seat for 5 EUR), joints yellowed. The free toiletries were soap and shampoo. Everything so far clean, but extremely simple.
Beds shorter than 2m.
Underground garage very narrow (26 EUR per day was fine).
Breakfast room without ventilation (corona concept?). Baguette was counted, only added on request.
Location good, much was accessible by foot or bus / metro.
Overall, clearly too expensive.

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to share your review. We are pleased to know that you appreciated our central location near the historic Latin Quarter and with easy access to transport options. We regret that your stay fell short of your expectations. We take our guests' feedback very seriously, and we assure you that we have passed yours along to the concerned departments. While we wish that more had been to your satisfaction, this will help us to make the necessary improvements in the future. We do carry out maintenance whenever necessary to keep our rooms up to date, however, we have noted your comment and will be considering it. Moreover, we do our best to offer competitive prices, and we deeply regret that you were not satisfied in this regard. The hotel is located in a pleasant residential area of Paris well connected to the more central districts, a stone's throw from Montparnasse and the Latin Quarter. The room was comfortable, large bed for a single, full bathroom with supply of toiletries. The breakfast, included in the cost of the room, was sufficiently varied and could be consumed in a small internal garden. The staff is friendly. Possibility to leave your suitcase after check-in / check-out times. Wifi line with some problems. Hairdryer not present, but reception provides it upon request. Hotel without luxuries but complete with all the necessary services for travelers and with an eye for aesthetics, simple, but pleasant overall.

Everybody was kind and helpful, but almost everyone does not speak English and you have to know French to speak to the staff.
There was this woman at the reception, she was constantly forcing French on us, even when she knows we do not speak it. Literally does not give you the key of your room because "she doesn't understand English".
And the last day during check out she miraculously started speaking English.
I WAS VERY MAD.
Bad about the room:
The toilet is very very small, literally only 1 person can be in the toilet at a time.
Also a big problem is that the hotel does not have air conditioning. In May the room was already very hot.
It's clean, except housekeeping did not change the bed linen for 8 days!
The room is very dark because they only have one glass door that gives light, no windows.
No hair dryer.
No kettle.
No refrigerator.
About the hotel:
There are no fruits or vegetables for breakfast, for the first few days we didn't even have scrambled eggs.
The hotel has an elevator.
The location is quiet, you can sleep normally.

We had a lovely stay at Hotel Magendie. It was clean and neat and just as the pictures advertised. The room is well equipped with enough space to unpack your bag. Our room was cleaned everyday. The breakfast is fresh and the service we received from the staff was friendly and efficient.
The location is in a quiet neighborhood, close to Metro Line 6 that takes you to the Eiffel Tower.
There are plenty of lovely restaurants just around the corner from the Hotel.
Overall we had an enjoyable stay. Thank you Hotel Magendie!

Hotel was clean and comfortable, the rooms and bathrooms are very small but adequate for a city break. The breakfast was continental with the addition of scrambled egg, more than enough to set you up for the day. The hotel location is quiet but not too far out of central Paris, we actually walked to most of the sights. For a budget hotel it was very good value for money.

We were not satisfied during our staying. Our room was a basic one, very small with just a small shelf to be used as a table and a micro bathroom. We were then moved for our last day to a different room due to an electricity problem in our assigned room. There, the heating was not working. Due to the bad isolation of the rooms, air was coming in.
In the cheapest room there is no hairdryer provided so it has to be requested and brought back at every use. The breakfast is very basic, only good points are croissants and pain au chocolat. The price per night for two is ~120€ with breakfast which for Paris is not that high but still not cheap. The quality is very basic for what you pay.

Dear Benetton, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're delighted to hear that you enjoyed our croissants and pain au chocolate. Regarding the room size, we acknowledge that our rooms are cosy, which is often the case in the heart of Paris, but we ensure they are well-equipped and functional. We regret to hear about the issues with heating and the inconvenience caused by the room transfer. While we do not provide hairdryers in the rooms as a standard amenity, we are always happy to supply one upon request. Our breakfast offers a variety of options and we're glad you found some items to your liking. The pricing of our rooms reflects our commitment to providing value in a central location, and we continuously strive to deliver a comfortable experience. We hope to welcome you for a better experience in one of our 58 holiday clubs in France. With kind regards, Grégory, Service Relation Clients Belambra

*Friendly Staff
*Breakfast options were vast for price (breads, cheeses, boiled eggs, ham, jams, honey, cereal, yoghurt, fresh pastries, fruit, coffee machine, teas, juices)
*Charming outside terrace with tables and chairs
*Rooms were clean and had complimentary soap and shower gel
*Ironing facilities on 6th floor which the lift DOES go to (seen someone say it didn't on another review) very clean just get the key from reception to use
*A main metro station 8 mins walk, some nice bars and restaurants within few mins
There was nothing I didn't like. This is incredible value for money and I will be staying every time I travel to Paris. It does say there is a hairdryer in the room which there isn't but you can get one from reception for free!

Hello,
What do you mean by A/C ?
Regards
Nathalie
No, but you might ask the front desk to see if they have one to loan you. (They'll loan hair dryers, so it's worth a shot.)
The rooms do not have hair dryers. You can borrow one at the reception desk. However, there may not be an outlet in the bathroom to plug it in to. My bathroom had an outlet marked "razors only".
Hello,
We thank you for your message and confirm that you have informed the hotel of your late arrival.
We wish you a pleasant stay in Paris

Eugénie
