I arrived at the hotel on Friday 15th March having been previously at a hotel around the corner and left the same day. In the most difficult of circumstances the lady on reception was kindness itself. Thank you very much for helping me. Even on that basis alone I would recommend this hotel.

Location, location, location. This is the second time my sister have stayed here, and we will stay here again. We usually travel every year to Paris together, and we have stayed pretty much all over in the past 14 years. We originally chose this hotel due to its proximity to everything we wanted to do, and it did not disappoint. We enjoy walking a lot in order to work off the calories we consume, and this is the perfect location to do so. It's also great if you decide to take the Metro instead of walking back, as a station is steps from the front door. Like last time, we booked a room with a view of the Seine and Notre Dame, and it did not disappoint. The hotel is clean, cozy, and comfortable. The staff are friendly and kind, patiently allow you to practice your French on them , and very helpful. We arrived in the early morning from the States, as we normally do, and took the RER into the city. RER B takes you directly to the hotel, with an elevator entrance/exit a few yards from the hotel. We got to the hotel about 9 am. Our room wasn't ready, but we were able to leave our luggage there while we went to grab breakfast at a nearby cafe on Ile St. Louis. We came back about an hour later to grab something from our bags and were told our room was ready. We had booked the Room Notre Dame on the 4th floor and had a fantastic view of the cathedral. The room was what was expected, size wise, and it had a standing shower, safe, small desk, and some chairs. The bed was comfortable, and the curtains suitably blocked out any light from the street and the sun. We did not have any issues with noise from the street, but we also sleep with a white noise machine. The walls are thin, and we could sometimes hear our neighbors, but it's an older building, and we were hardly in our room. Note that you have to walk up stairs to get to the reception, but we saw them help other guests with their heavier luggage if needed. There is a small elevator from the reception floor that goes to the rest of the floors above. There is a breakfast that you can either book with your room or purchase in the morning. There are a TON of restaurants, cafes, and things to see and do within easy walking distance to the hotel, and it was great to have the hotel so conveniently located if we needed to take a quick rest from a long walk or a large meal. The only thing we wish there was, was some extra hooks in the bathroom to hang our towels, but we ultimately were fine without them. We are coming back in the fall, after the Olympics, and we have already rebooked the hotel for that visit.

I picked this hotel because it is centrally located and looks quirky. It is both of those things. However, the central location means it is noisy from the constant traffic and sirens and when you leave the hotel you are right on the street, as in the foyer is up one flight of stairs. The quirkiness meant that the hotel was very dark everywhere and frankly felt like a fire hazard. The walls are lined with fabric and the stairs are covered in dark carpet. Paid extra for a view of the ND. The rooms are tiny and barely have enough space for luggage. The toilet was challenging to flush. You may need to know that although there is a lift, you still need to lug your luggage up one flight of stairs to reception, and from there it is so small and frightening that we only used it to put our luggage in - we didn't want to risk getting in there! The stairs are all different sizes and shapes and the corridors are so tiny you could stand in one spot and knock on three different doors. The breakfast was nice enough. Overall, dark, small, hazardous and disappointing.

Response from Hotel Notre Dame Paris, Service clients/Réception at Hotel le Notre Dame

Hello Madame, Thank you for your detailed feedback in regards to your recent stay with us. As you state it we're very very central right in front of Notre Dame Cathedrale and with this comes the busy and very touristy activity...though all our windows are double paned and most of the noise reduced. Our old fashion, cozy parisian atmmosphere pleases most but we understand it is a matter of taste :) Designed by famous Christian Lacroix. In terms of room standards, this is indeed Paris :) in its centuries old buildings but we're average and we do have larger rooms and duplexes if need be. There is indeed a flight of stairs to reach up Reception and you arrive in the lounge area with a wide and upper view of the Seine river and Notre Dame, not practical for luggage true but such a plus to be above the activity below. We wish you all best wishes for this New Year 2024 :) Sincerely, Managment

I was a little concerned when entering to get to lobby you had to go up about 15 steps and we were luggage heavy since we were bringing holiday presents to family in Paris and bringing back presents for US family so that was a little tricky but their web site declares in several places that you have steps to lobby so this was all on me and I missed that. FYI, there was no one for luggage help. Once in the lobby the small elevator was right there and worked great. The location is fabulous... Lying in bed and seeing Notre Dame lit up at night (even w/ her scaffolding) was awe inspiring and watching the Seine flow by was a plus. The RER train right across the street, metro a couple blocks in 2 different directions. One side of the hotel does face a busy street and our room on the 4th floor faced that street but the window kept out most of the noise except for sirens but at night we were so exhausted I did not hear a thing.. There were multiple cafes, restaurants close and a few charming allys with shops & restaurants directly behind the hotel. The room, actually roomy for a European hotel, was charming and clean, comfortable and the linens and towels were all fluffy, the pillows were great and the mattress was very comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful and always had great advice. We skipped the breakfast since there were so many cafes around and we were always on the go to somewhere so we chose to grab breakfast and mosy on. Their price for breakfast was competitive with what we paid off premises. I'd take clean, comfortable & cozy over fancy & fussy any day so I'd go back to this hotel on my next stay...

Dear "lkgtraveler" We would like to thank you for choosing our hotel ( dispite the 15 steps you have to climb till the reception :) ) and for leaving your so clear and up to the point review about it . Indeed even if the hotel is well soundprofeed the central area where is located can be busy sometime but in the meantime gives you easy acces to the major touristic attractions of Paris. Is so nice to see you enjoy our staff - is our aim to make our guests feel like home - and we hope you had a nice trip back home.We wish you all the best for this New Year and we hope to have the chance to welcome you on the very next future in the "City of Lights"; Best regards Simona

My husband and I stayed here for four nights in September of 2023. We stayed in a standard room with a view of Notre Dame. The room itself is perfectly adequate. It had all of the amenities you would expect to have in a standard hotel room. It was pretty small, and nothing fancy. There is no mini fridge or coffee. The room is a bit dated as well. The double bed was very comfortable though. We didn't have breakfast, which was quite expensive at 10 Euros each per day. The staff was just ok. They didn't do anything wrong, but they didn't go out of their way to make our stay great. No one asked how our stay was, if it was comfortable, or if we needed anything. It was just basic. Not that I need them to fawn over me, but there was nothing special to write home about. What you're paying for is the location. The view of Notre Dame was fantastic, and we were so close to everything. It made getting around really easy. The downside is that it's very noisy. Being on the street meant hearing the traffic, sirens and people yelling at all hours of the night. This is a 3-star hotel for a reason. I would recommend staying here if location is really important to you. Just don't expect anything fancy, it's a standard, basic hotel.

Great location but very noisey at nite so request a room facing the canal not the side street . Great bars and restaurants in this precinct and you can walk to every major attraction in paris . Staff were great and you get a nice brekky for 10euro . Pack light rooms are small but we would go back . But clean and reasonably priced for this location

This property is strategically located in the Latin Quarter with great vibe around it. The views are wonderful and stepping out you are in the Parisian world immediately. The staff is always on duty and available to you. They do get to know you and your needs quickly as there are only thirteen rooms on property. The rooms are small as all accommodations are in large cities. However open the windows and let the city views take you in. Breakfast and daily beverages are offered on the reception floor. Some fruit would have been nice but the pastries are able to get you on your way. I do appreciate the staff (especially Henri) and their understanding of my wife’s and my difficulty in adapting to some unique plumbing opportunities in the bathroom. They were responsive and accommodating ensuring this did not impact the remainder of our stay. The neighborhood restaurant Le Petit Pont was wonderful with Foie Gras and JW Black Label on the menu. Overall, I would return to this property again and again. To the team, Mercibeaucoup.

How can you not fall deeper in love with Paris than when you are looking at Notre Dame at night from your bed? From the wine, grapes and cheese we had upon our arrival….to the robes for our showers…to the elegantly designed rooms…we felt pampered our entire stay. The hotel is conveniently located to RER and Metro stations, the heart of the Latin Quarter, and overlooks the Seine. You feel the spirit of the Sorbonne and Victor Hugo all around the hotel. We loved the old map of Paris in the bar / lounge. Within a stone’s throw are an eclectic abundance of restaurants, shops, and historical sites. The staff is kind and knowledgeable and made us feel like residents rather than transient travelers. I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a romantic stay at the front door to the old city. The hotel is as colorful as the residents who have walked these streets for centuries. We will definitely be returning. Thank you!

Firstly I will say to each his own. But if you have high standards and good taste, this is not the place for you. The staff is very unfriendly. The rooms are shabby not chic! Carpet on the walls and the carpet on the floor is a wood plank pattern. Bed was very uncomfortable. The location felt very unsafe at night. It’s an area you may want to visit but not stay at. Highly recommend that you stay away.

Hello, Since you seem to want to put your negative review everywhere....for obvious intentions of yours....here is our answer yet again...We leave the rest of our rave comments do the talk :) We have well received your rating and feedback and we would like to put the facts there...more for our readers though. While at the Hotel, nothing had been a situation and we received no complaint from your end. Till the point where you departed without doing a proper check out. The receptionnist called you later on as the city taxes were left to be paid for (your room was prepaid). It is at that very point that things changed, you became aggressive and we will pass the details but you seemed to blame the fact you were not informed of this as an excuse not to pay for what was due....we hear you out but it does change the fact that it is a due, that the threats written then were unnecesary and your final feedback here just shows your real intentions which we regret in the end. Fabien

The best thing about this hotel is the location. Within walking distance to Louvre and located steps away fro notre Dame, which unfortunately is closed due to the fire. Our room was unique. Tiny with a loft that had a TV but you couldn’t stand up in the space and also no furniture to sit on. Housekeeping was very good. Clean and the bed was great. Breakfast was very basic and not much if you need to eat gluten free but there is a bakery right next door to the hotel that had some GF baked goods. Front desk staff good. Overall a good stay.

Hello, Thank you for having taken the time to share your stay at the Notre Dame Hotel. Indeed we're straight accrosse the Notre Dame Cathedrale and very much in the center of Paris with just about all one would need around :) As you know we are a small Boutique Hotel, very authentic in a several hundred years old building and while we offer a great comfort for our guests, room size remains..."parisian" :) great to know you did enjoy your experience in our universe! Take good care. Sincerely, Fabien
