I stayed at this hotel on a work trip. The first room I was in was truly terrible. It was very small and cosy, fine. But the noise levels were unbelievable. I could hear people breathing/clearing their throat in a room next door, snoring from another, and could hear - in explicit detail - others using the toilet in their... More

The best part of the hotel is its location. Just a 5-10 minute walk and you reach all the bars in the Latin Quarter and the restaurants near the Notre Dame. The staff are very helpful, we needed to book a cab to the airport and print out our tickets, they were very glad to help. The rooms are a... More

My first time in Paris and i was very excited to see everything. I expected luxury from my hotel stay. The foyer was promising. Modern, colourful and clean. Monsieur Michael was the best thing about this place. It was tiny. The room old and dated not in a quirky way that can be forgiven but in a depressing unloved way.... More

Hotel de Senlis is in a great location; close to attractions (Pantheon, Notre Dame just a short walk away) and bars & restaurants. It was very convenient to not have to take public transportation in the evening and to have lots of choices available (it is close to Rue Mouffetard and about a 15min walk from the Latin Quarter). The... More

This Latin Quarter hotel is quintessential France: small, adequate, quirky, friendly and quaint. The hotel is near the Sorbonne, Luxembourg Park and the Pantheon. The WiFi doesn't reach the back rooms or patio balcony, but works fine in the lobby and court yard. The water gets steaming hot, but the shower runs out onto the bathroom floor. Passing around the... I knew I was going for a lower end hotel with a 2 star in Paris. However, I left a little disappointed with the room. It needed some TLC on the walls and the bathroom was definitely falling apart. The walls are paper thin and you can easily hear taking and snoring in other rooms. On the positive side, the... More

Excellent location, friendly staff, clean. I would have loved to give this hotel 5 stars, but we had 2 nights of broken sleep due to noise outside. We were in Room 4 on ground floor, which faces on to the street. Other family members were higher up, facing the back of the hotel. They slept well

Students and academics largely stay in this small, older hotel in the 5th district two blocks from the Pantheon and law school. The beamed ceiling rooms are typically Parisian small and our room only had a single outlet. Lovely staff, and Ok breakfast, but the wifi is immensely frustrating. Periodically stops sending a signal--in fact it has already cut out... More

The hotel is extremely well located at the heart of the Quartier Latin. It's a very basic 2-star hotel, so you should have no special expectations. The bathroom had been renovated, but not the room: so, some restyling and refreshing is urgently needed.

There are two very enjoyable types of hotels in Paris: the grand hotels and the quaint ones. Hotel de Senlis is definitely of the latter sort, and this is why we enjoy it so much. Rue Malebranche itself is used as the settings of many French movies for a good reason: It is quaint. Our favourite room is number 11,... More

Staying in Quartier Latin

Neighborhood Profile
Quartier Latin
The Latin Quarter bursts with intellectual life, architectural splendor and ongoing merriment. The small streets are filled with classical buildings, student bars and lively eateries while the squares are dominated by historic monuments. The area is defined by the 800-year-old Sorbonne University, where Latin once prevailed, and is famous for the Pantheon which celebrates the great men and women of France. During the day students rush from classes to the library and intellectuals people watch from the terraced cafés. As night time falls the surrounding establishments fill up and the merriment really begins. The liveliest parts are around Rue Mouffetard, lined with crêperies and international street food eateries, and Place de la Contrescarpe characterised by terraced brasseries, this neighborhood provides real nourishment for the mind, belly, and soul.
