    Good stay
Wanted to give 4 out of 5 but could not. This is a clean, comfortable hotel, well run, nice service. Good room size for Paris hotel, worth noting this point. Breakfast ok, cooked food options very limited. Lobby area used extensively for business travellers working, good vibe to the place. Why 3 out of 5? Hotel is not a proper 4 star in my opinion. Every aspect of the rooms are designed and fitted to suit the hotel not the customer. Bathroom layout not good, toilet is boxed in on 3 sides, shower tray decent size but shower head offset to one side, irritating to use, towelling is poorly quality and undersized. Bedroom furniture might look ‘trendy’ but pretty basic. No trouser press, hair dryer….. There is a safe and a small fridge in the room. Good size TV on the wall - all positive points. You will not have a bad stay in this hotel, you will sleep well and eat ok. Hotel is in a good position for local restaurants and quick access into the city. An experienced traveller using 4 stars hotels in Europe would pick up on these points. As a base for exploring Paris for a few days as a tourist you will not go wrong. There is a 4 star boutique hotel next door to this hotel that is also worth considering.

    Great but still to improve
I love this hotel and stay there often. This said there are few important things to improve to make it great: Second elevator is “in maintenance” since too long and never really worked well. From time to time (rarely but still happening) some room can have a funny smell. For the rest I can only have positive words about the place which is greatly located and very cozy. Prices should be a little lower some times but I understand the hotel is strong enough to not care about this Last point :)
Dear guest, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback following your recent visit. We are happy to read that we are one of your favourite place to stay in Paris, thank you ! Then we would like to let you know that you advice is really important to us and we will share your comment with the rest of the team to improve for your next stay. We cannot wait to welcome you again :) Warm regards, Emilie, Community Manager of Mercure Paris Gare Montparnasse

Clean comfortable hotel in the heart of Montparnasse
Clean comfortable hotel in the heart of Montparnasse. Rooms are small but you will not get a bigger room in Paris unless you break the bank. The room was clean, shower was hot and hard, and the bed was a dream. It is in the vibey area of Montparnasse and there are bars and restaurants directly below you. Despite this the hotel room was really quiet and I did not hear a thing (I am a very light sleeper). I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel. Check in was super quick and best of all the hotel has parking (you need to prebook and pay but this is a relief to know your car is safe under you). I would stay here again.
A big THANK YOU for your excellent comment following your stay with us. What a joy to read that your stay reached the heights of your expectations. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed the comfort of the room but also the localisation of the hotel without forget the parking. We're already looking forward to welcoming you soon. Warm regards, Emilie - Social Media Manager of Mercure Paris Gare Montparnasse

My experience at this hotel was beyond disappointing. We stayed in room 229, which was incredibly uncomfortable due to the excessive moisture in the room. The bedding and upholstery felt damp to the touch, and the bathroom was overrun with black mold, making it unusable. This forced us to rely on our family's facilities for showering during our stay. During two days we both experienced respiratory problems and voiced our concerns to the staff. We received the following shocking response: “Yes, we’re aware of the condition of the rooms but we cannot keep track of which rooms have mould and which don’t. We’re planning to renovate.” While I understand that the reception desk isn't directly responsible for room conditions, I expected a basic level of empathy and understanding. Instead, the staff didn't make any effort to resolve the situation. To make matters worse, when I suggested that rooms in such a state should not be available for booking, the staff member's dismissive laughter was infuriating. Throughout our conversation he kept smirking and didn’t take us seriously. We used to be frequent guests at this hotel due to its proximity to my mom's place, but after this recent experience, it's highly unlikely that we'll ever return. The lack of empathy, unprofessional attitude, and the condition of the room have left a lasting negative impression that is hard to forget.

four star hotel? I never would have thought. yes, there are small extras such as bathrobes and a coffee machine, but it doesn't add up to a generally worn hotel with a somewhat musty smell. The frames on the doors are worn, and we struggled to close the door properly so that it locked. bottle that we accidentally discovered it otherwise we would have slept with an unlocked door or left the room unlocked. we had a room with an extra sofa bed in our own room, which the children aged 7 and 9 slept on. The double bed was not much to brag about but the sofa bed was horrible. we ended up all four in the double bed. little weird solutions in the bathroom that we stumbled upon. body soap in the shower while shampoo two meters away by the toilet. no hanger for a towel by the sink, but a hook far up on the wall behind the door, which the child did not go up to when they wanted to dry themselves. the panel for the toilets, where you flush, was made of the simplest plastic and fell apart every time we flushed. read that the hotel went through the renovation in 2019. it must have been the cheapest variety with small finnes that will make this three-star hotel look like a four-star. There was a musty smell in the hallways and the room also had a sort of old smell. in addition to the sewage smell in the bathroom. Very surprised by so many good reviews on Tripadvisor. But I still give it a three. this is due to the good size of the rooms, the balcony we were given and a good location in relation to the lively atmosphere in the Montparnasse district.

My family and I booked two rooms and stayed for five nights inland were very happy with our stay. The front desk staff were very cool and welcoming upon our arrival and quickly got us our rooms directly next to each other. The rooms themself were far bigger than I thought they would be. Each room had a pull out sofa and even a little refrigerator. This came in handy as there is a Lidl around the block that I was able to grab some little beers to put in the fridge. Our room was cleaned everyday and we were provided fresh towels and our beds were straightened. The room could have been a little colder at night, but not to the point of complaining. Watch out for the shower head as it will twist around and spray onto the bathroom floor, but the water pressure and temperature were perfect. There was also a filtered water station by the elevator on our floor, which was great to have access to. The area itself was lively but not overly touristy with lots of great restaurants within a quarter of a mile. Our morning of checkout we had the front desk arrange for a taxi to take us to the airport. We got the notification our flight was delayed an our the morning of and the concierge was able to call us a ride for an hour later. What happened after was beyond the staffs control as the driver was “stuck in traffic” then cancelled our ride. The hotel got us a new taxi and even though it was over an hour later everything worked out as our flight was delayed yet again (United). The staff could see how nervous we were and repeatedly offered us coffee or something to drink. We could tell they were going above and beyond to get us a new ride and we appreciate it so much. This was an amazing hotel and if I ever get to go to Paris again I would certainly stay here.

This place was so/so. The good - Location & wifi . The bad - rooms don’t cool down, toiletries provided are bad & ours were empty. The shower is a danger/hazard. The hotel carpet in the rooms is really gross. The bar is rarely open & I was charged $15 euro for a rum & coke & the rum was less than 1/2 a shot. No concierge, no early or late check in/out. Sparse English speakers. No place to relax.

From the moment we stepped in to this hotel we were really excited to stay. The main lobby area has a nice vibe and bright, colourful and quirky. The staff were friendly and helpful. When we got to our room they had decorated and left a welcome card for my birthday. The room was spotless, bed and pillows were very comfortable. It was nice and clean, the soaps and lotions in the bathroom smell beautiful! We stayed in room 505 a privilege room with a balcony area which was a luxury to have with 2 chairs and a table overlooking the streets of Montparnasse. Breakfast the following morning was delicious and the pan au chocolates were incredible! Hot and cold options with fresh orange juice and a coffee machine. I would definitely recommend this hotel to couple looking for a City break. It’s in a lovely area with lots of bars and restaurants to choose from. The whole place has a good feel to it, you’ll have a great time.

Good morning, Brad, I am sorry to see that you went through that experience in our hotel. In a matter of waste reduction, we tend to limit these supplies but they can be asked at the Front Desk at all times. We ignore why they refused to help you out that time and we will investigate to understand what happened precisely. That is not how we want to serve our guests and it does not reflect our standards. Could you please reach out to me by email to tell me more about your booking (here is my address: cm.rs.accor@gmail.com)? We hope you will accept our apologies and give us a second chance to make it right. In the meantime, all the team wishes you the best, Sincerely, Andrea - Community Manager

The location of this hotel is excellent. The hotel lobby area is beautifully designed with a lot of unique art work. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful and tried to accommodate our needs including early check-in (with a cost), which was helpful for us after a long flight. The hotel rooms are not very spacious, but enough for two people to keep the things around. The bathroom was a little tight, but the room and bathroom were clean and well maintained. The only issue we had was that the air-condition was not cooling the room enough. Had to keep the windows open at night which we could since we were on a higher floor. Very close to the Montparnasse Station and also a number of other Metro Stations for different lines (13, 6, 4). This area has a ton of restaurants and cafes and bars that cater to a verity of food choices and is buzzling with activity till late into the night, though you do not feel that when you are inside the hotel .

The location of the hotel is good. I would not stay there again. I was assigned to a moldy, mildewed room. What I initially thought was a simple and old stained carpet appeared to be mold upon closer inspection, later. The mildew odor was strong in the room. The bed was quite comfortable but the apparent mold and mildew issue made a poor impression as well as being a health hazard. The window would not close properly, which was good in this case because of the odor in the room. The bathroom was generally uncomfortable. The water from the shower was leaking into the carpet in the rest of the unit and this appeared to be a source of the mold/mildew problem. However, housekeeping was excellent as well as friendly. I traveled around France so I was able to escape and stay in a nicer hotel. Needless to say,I won’t stay again at any Mercure.

Dear Edyth, I am really sorry to read your unsatisfaction. However, there must have been a confusion with another hotel because we have no booking with your name, and your comment does not match with our establishment. We are the Mercure Paris Gare Montparnasse, there is another one called Mercure Paris Gare Montparnasse TGV* a few minutes away, and we suffer the confusion on a daily basis. For that reason, we have asked TripAdvisor to remove your review or transfer it to the correct establishment. Should you come back to Paris, we would be glad to welcome you properly, Have a great day, Andrea - Community Marketing

I booked a family room described as 1 Double, 2 Single Beds, only to find it was a double and a terribly thin and extremely squeaky and uncomfortable sofa bed. When I asked the front desk about the discrepancy they did not care, they simply said that room didn't exist, and it was my mistake. Despite bringing up the issue a couple times, it's still on the website as the incorrect deceptive room type. They tried to blame it on me booking through a 3rd party site, but everything was directly on Accor's own website, ALL. The room themselves were ok on first glance, but upon closer look, the bathroom was moldy in many places, with unfinished constuction. Once again, when alerted to this, the staff didn't care, said they'll take a note about it and did nothing. The minifridge had some small waters, but had mold as well, in the frozen-over drip tray, so unusable. No housekeeping was done on our 2-night stay. The location is excellent though, many subway lines just a quick walk in multiple directions, tons of restaurants. Full Monoprix very close. Some VERY family-unfriendly adult businesses in one direction though.

Dear Sir, We are sorry that your experience did not match your expectations, nor our standrads in terms of customer experience. After double-checking, your booking was for 1 Double Bed + 1 Sofa Bed (not a 2 Single Bed). Therefore, you had the room you booked on Accor's website. Regarding the humidity issue in the bathroom, we alerted the Technical manager, and the problem will be solved. Thank you for raising it. Given the multiple restrictions in terms of heating, there has been a phenomenon of thaw, sometimes causing mold, unfortunately... we are sorry about the inconvenience. Regarding the housekeeping, it is done on a daily basis, except if the customer hangs the door tie ("do not disturb"). I hope this will give you some pieces of answer, and above all, that we will get the chance to serve you better in the near future. Wishing you the best, Andrea - Community Manager
