There we were at lunch on our first day in Paris. We were not enjoying the food or the fact that we were near THE Eiffel Tower, no we were frantically searching through the guidebook for a place to stay that wasn't too expensive. We were looking for this place because we couldn't stay at our terrible hostel anymore. Hotel...

Great staff...friendly, helpful and willing/able to speak in English. Excellent location...very central (Latin Quarter), in walking distance of many of the most touristy sitesand easily accessible to local transport...metro, RER etc... Close by to supermarket, Internet (expensive at 3.99 per hour??), post office and lots & lots of camping/adventure wear stores. We had a double with ensuite...spacious and quite adequate....

Our room had a private bathroom with 3 twin comfortable beds (children are 8, 12, 16) and my husband and I had a comfortable double bed. The staff runs a tight ship and keeps everything very clean. They were quick to fixed a light fixture. They replaced towels whenever needed and fixed our rooms daily. They have free commercial size...

Room for two for 6 nights, clean and comfortable. No complaints at all. Complementary breakfast, basic, but good, very nice hot chocolate. Found the use of the kitchen very convenient, allows you to cook an evening meal. Good location, on a quite one way street, 4 minutes to the metro, 5 minutes to Notre Dame. Would I stay here again?...

This was my 2nd stay at the Marignan. We came back for the great location at a reasonable price. You wouldn't want to lug trunk-sized luggage up the 6 flights of stairs, but this place is perfect for the budget, carry-on traveler who's more interested in price and location than lots of stars in the hotel rating. We took a...

As others have mentioned finding a quad room in a good location in Paris is quite difficult, to this end Hotel Marignan fits the bill - just. This was the second time we had stayed here but I now think it will be the last, the first time I think we had 'rose coloured' glasses on with the excitment of...

Stayed in room 26 (5th floor) for 8 nights at 85 Euros a night, and would do it again in an instant. Quiet street, free WIFI, breakfast included, free access to kitchen and laundry facilities, a basket of electrical converters and travel books available to borrow, and all within walking location of everything you'd want to see in Paris. Breakfast...

It's very hard to find a hotel with rooms for 4 in Europe. Paris is no exception. We paid 135 euros for a family room on the 4th floor. We knew ahead of time that there were no elevators. It was quite a hike with the carry on luggage. The location cannot be beat! When we arrived on Friday, the...

We stayed 4 nights at the Marignan, with our 2 kids (9 yrs), and opted for the large room with a private bath - one of the best decisions we made on our trip! For security reasons, I would have preferred to be at least on the second level, but we fared well. It took us a couple days before...

Staying in Quartier Latin

Neighborhood Profile
Quartier Latin
The Latin Quarter bursts with intellectual life, architectural splendor and ongoing merriment. The small streets are filled with classical buildings, student bars and lively eateries while the squares are dominated by historic monuments. The area is defined by the 800-year-old Sorbonne University, where Latin once prevailed, and is famous for the Pantheon which celebrates the great men and women of France. During the day students rush from classes to the library and intellectuals people watch from the terraced cafés. As night time falls the surrounding establishments fill up and the merriment really begins. The liveliest parts are around Rue Mouffetard, lined with crêperies and international street food eateries, and Place de la Contrescarpe characterised by terraced brasseries, this neighborhood provides real nourishment for the mind, belly, and soul.
