We had just spent the last of summer in the SW of France (the Atlantic, Basque Bayonne, Bordeaux, and mainly the Dordogne (Perigord). We had to get to Paris for our return flight home and needed to stay a night in a Parisian hotel. We've been to Paris a few times previously but had never stayed on the Rive Gauche... More

You don't go to Paris to sleep but to immerse yourself in the old world architecture, fine art, delicious cuisine, sultry wines and general allure of the French culture. That being said, one does need a comfortable spot to rest and recharge for the next days adventure. The Hotel Marignan is NOT such a place! This antiquated inn is beyond... More

We would like to respond to your comments, which are not factual and highly polemic. We are surprised that during your stay, you did not inform us of any problems. If you had done so, we would have responded to your concerns immediately and found a solution. Our hotel had been totally renovated (mattresses, plumbing, painting, lighting, Wifi...). We have... The room was great, location was incredible - very close to metro and bus line, and the staff were very helpful! The breakfast was decent though when in Paris I would chose to eat elsewhere. Laundry facilities were very handy too!

Just stayed with my three children. The quad room was perfect (& you'll get your workout going to/from the 5th floor via steps). Extremely clean rooms. Fresh breakfast. Helpful staff. Very convenient, yet quiet location. Free clothes washer/dryer. If stay here again for sure. Cosmetic details (carpet, dry wall/plaster) in common areas such as stay wells would be improved, but... Hotel offers very competitive price taking into account the location - you are in the heart of Paris with walking distance almost to everywhere. Do not expect any luxury, but anything you need is there, prepared for you with French gracefulness. Also there is a kitchen available, so you can make a cup of tea / simple snacks for yourself... +Good sized room. Shower worked well. Tasty croissants. Good location. -Towels smelt unpleasant - damp smell. No view from room. Staff friendly on arrival, but much less friendly in the morning. The lady serving breakfast dropped the paper table cloth on the floor, then put it on our table. Asked twice for butter at breakfast time and it didn't come.... More

Visiting Paris with my 2 daughters (their first time) I was looking for a budget friendly room in the Latin Quarter. The room was small but clean and comfortable. The beds were up on legs so we were able to slide our suitcases underneath which saved walking space and made the room manageable. The bathroom was small but very clean.... More

The hotel location is fantastic! Price is great and the multilingual staff is extremely helpful. Rooms are quite small and basic, but adequate. In warm weather my room was extremely hot, but a fan was provided in the room. Breakfast is very basic. Overall, I consider it a great value for the budget-conscious traveler.

Our first night of 2 nights in this friendly, budget hotel. After arriving from 12 hrs of exhausting travel from Vancouver Canada we were treated to much needed coffee, juice, croissants, and cheese. In a great area close to Notre Dame and super friendly staff.

Staying in Quartier Latin

Neighborhood Profile
Quartier Latin
The Latin Quarter bursts with intellectual life, architectural splendor and ongoing merriment. The small streets are filled with classical buildings, student bars and lively eateries while the squares are dominated by historic monuments. The area is defined by the 800-year-old Sorbonne University, where Latin once prevailed, and is famous for the Pantheon which celebrates the great men and women of France. During the day students rush from classes to the library and intellectuals people watch from the terraced cafés. As night time falls the surrounding establishments fill up and the merriment really begins. The liveliest parts are around Rue Mouffetard, lined with crêperies and international street food eateries, and Place de la Contrescarpe characterised by terraced brasseries, this neighborhood provides real nourishment for the mind, belly, and soul.
