I dont agree with many comments here about this place. Its a basic, old hotel however the toilet was very clean, we got the room serviced every day, and breakfast was basic but you cant ask for much when you pay 5 euros in Paris. Staff were friendly and yes, if you pay 50 euros for a room in the... More

We stayed in Modern Hotel for one night, for our best friend was getting married in Paris. But the light didn't work in our room, and when we went to tell the (already extremely uninterested) receptionist we left not only our luggage and money but also our key in the room. We asked the receptionist to open our room so... More

We stayed three nights. The room was adequate, the area is a bit dirty but convenient to the city. The worst thing was the staff. The hotel is run by a group of men who havent got a clue how to interract with customers. They have long discussions in Arabic while you are waiting. The wifi was intermittent. Michael from... More

Came here with very low expectations given the reviews I had read. Booked it figuring I would only be sleeping there and it was cheap. Positives - wifi worked in our 3rd floor room most evenings (302) Great access to the Metro In cool area quite close to Montmartre Towels were clean, water pressure good, lots of hot water Nice... I staid there with my boyfriend for two nights last summer. The room was small but cosy and the bathroom was clean. It was silence during the night. We didn't spend that much time in the hotel room though. It is a cheap accommodation and close to Moulin Rouge and also to Sacre Coeur. The high street is full of... More

This is a run down grotty little place, with the worst bathroom I have been in! we was really disappointed even by European standards. The reception ( if you could call it that) was staffed by men who didn't seem to be able to speak any English and gave us no help or information. The only positive thing I could... More

We booked two rooms in this hotel for 3 nights and received the confirmation. When we arrived we were told there was only one room available, so our daughter had to stay in a 'sister hotel' further up on the street. We had to pay extra, because that hotel was more expensive! Ridiculous. We know it is a budget hotel,... More

I booked this off t'Internet as it was cheap and in an area I wanted to stay in (bottom of Montmartre). Knowing it was 2* and cheap I wasn't expecting too much and my wants are fairly simple - somewhere safe, dry and offering a decent night's sleep. The Modern Hotel met my needs nicely. The positives - handy location,... More

Small but very efficient hotel. Very confortable for its position, the staff is very skilled and gentle. Only 2 stars hotel but the services (such as wi-fi, breakfast and cleaning) are so good. The place to be.

Staying in Montmartre

Neighborhood Profile
Montmartre
Montmartre is a bustling mix of cultures, colors, and styles which changes from one street to another. Ride the funicular (or, for a real workout, climb the steps) to the sublime Sacré-Coeur (Basilica of the Sacred Heart) with its inspiring view of the city. The church is surrounded by provincial streets and piano bars where tourists, artists, and street entertainers thrive. At the foot of the hill, Boulevard de Clichy features shops not intended for young audiences, while residences are scattered to the north and east. The diverse population includes a large part from the Arab-speaking world, Africa, and Turkey. It’s a corner of Paris full of life and dynamism with charms that can’t be found anywhere else.
