Hotel Maison Axel Opera Paris is often described as a gem with its modern and cozy atmosphere, drawing guests in with its newly renovated rooms and comfortable furnishings. Nestled in a prime location, the establishment offers easy access to public transport and local attractions, while maintaining a tranquil environment. While the rooms are noted to be on the smaller side, typical for Paris, they are celebrated for their cleanliness and contemporary amenities.
Guests have consistently lauded the hotel's service, underlining the staff's warm and efficient approach. Despite some calls for a broader breakfast selection, the overall value of the hotel is well-regarded.

Detailed Reviews

The hotel was easily accessed by public transport having just arrived from the airport. I was early at the hotel at 10am and had informed them via email a few days before. Upon arrival, I was told that early check in would incur a charge of 30 euros which was reasonable but since I was planning to head out straight ahead, there was no need for it except for a bit of repacking. They agreed to store my luggage. However, once I was done repacking, the lady at the reception told me that considering I will be staying for a few nights, they decided to waive the early check in fee for me. Hence, I was given the key to my room. There was a lift in the property which was handy but it is quite tiny. Whilst it is stated as a capacity for 3 persons, with my huge suitcase, my backpack and I, the lift was full. The room was of a decent size for one person. If there were another person, it would be a bit of a squeeze with another suitcase but living in together will be fine. The room was clean and obviously had to check for signs of bedbugs which to my delight had none! The room had two windows which could be opened and that permitted quite a bit of wind in. However, with that also came the noise from the restaurants downstairs. There were blackout curtains to ensure the room was dark at night for a good rest. The bathroom was a good size in a longish sort of style. Hairdryer, kettle, coffee and tea facilities were available in the room. There was coffee available in the lobby as well which was really good! The bed was very comfortable but the pillows might be too soft for some. I usually bring my own orthopaedic pillow hence am quite neutral with the pillows provided. Housekeeping could be done whenever requested and they did a pretty good job. The room is clean and when the windows are closed, will have minimal street noise. However, I like opening the windows and hence had to cope with the noise downstairs (I stayed at level 4). Overall, I enjoyed my stay here, minus the noise from downstairs. Not sure if there's a room that perhaps faces away from the street for minimal street noise with opened windows. However, I will stay here again in a heartbeat for the comfort and proximity to public transport and places.

This is a very nice hotel. It has been newly renovated and is immaculate. The rooms are small, but this is true of all hotels in the old parts of Paris. Likewise, though there is an elevator, it can only hold two people or one person plus a suitcase. New fixtures in the bathroom include a towel warmer, excellent hot water pressure in the shower, and a 110v outlet for a shaver. Shampoo and body wash are provided. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The Grand Boulevard metro is about 5 blocks away.
A buffet breakfast was available for 15€. This included juices, sliced meats and cheese, scrambled or boiled eggs, various breads, and coffee. It’s a good price for the convenience and if you are going to eat a big breakfast. I would have appreciated the ability to simply have coffee and a roll at a lower price.
I have been to Paris several times and have stayed in comparable hotels. Things may have changed over the years, but the buffets on previous trips have always provided pastries from a boulangerie. …crisp, flakey, amazing croissants and pain au chocolat. The patries at the Axel were so disappointing, no better than the supermarket croissants we can get in the US. I have read recently that the boulangeries in France are failing due to mass produced products available in supermarchés. Traditional croissants are one of the joys of visiting Paris. I would urge hotels to keep the small boulangeries in business and provide their guests with the real thing.
And by the way, supermarket croissants can be hugely improved by putting them in a hot oven for 5 min or so. They will be almost like Paris!😁

Stayed at this lovely quiet small boutique hotel for 4 nights while in Paris. Staff on the front desk were very efficient, helpful and polite. Check in and out was simple and quick. Room was clean and nice with a view of the street in front. Cosy lift or stairs to your room. Room has almost everything you need but as is the norm in Europe no fridge. There are handy usb charging plugs on both sides of the bed. Bed and pillows were very comfortable. Room has air con which you don't always find in the smaller places. Bathroom is a little small but good water pressure, plenty of hot water and ample towels. Also a heated towel rail. Tea and coffee making supplies are in the room. A very nice touch is a coffee machine and snacks in the lounge area that are available for guests to help themselves to at any time. Great to get a good coffee after a long day out.
Breakfast was included with our room and while not a hugely massive selection there was definitely plenty of variety to set you up for a busy day of sightseeing. Eggs, many different cereals breads and pastries, yoghurt, cold meats and cheeses, tea coffee and juices. This hotel is very close, easy walking distance, to a few different Metro train line stations, many restaurants and bars, shops and food markets, bakeries and even souvenir sellers. Definitely a good area to stay. If you're looking for an option to the larger chain hotels this hotel would be a very good choice.

We spent 6 nights in this charming little hotel which is within walking distance of Paris Garnier, La Fayette and many other attractions. The staff were friendly and courteous. We were lucky enough to be upgraded to a spacious superior room after 2 nights. The hotel was clean and well-kept. Breakfast consisted of fruit salad, cereals, croissants, eggs and a variety of breads, ham and salami. (Breakfast is optional but we liked the convenience, being a husband and wife of mature age.) There are many cafes, a supermarket and other shops within 30 seconds walk from the hotel. A good place to stay.

I am delighted that I chose Hotel Maison Axel for a short stay in Paris, and would happily return on my next visit.
I understand that the hotel was recently refurbished, and that is clear from reception to the rooms. place. While my room was small, it was modern, sparklingly clean, and had every amenity required, from a coffee making facility (with free coffee also available in the lobby area), very comfortable bed, lovely fresh bath towels in a modern bright shower unit, and USB recharging connections beside the bed.
It is a great location, on a quiet side-street, but close to a myriad of bars and restaurants.
Overall the hotel gives great value for the quality it provides and I would absolutely recommend it.

We (couple in our 70s) have just spent a very pleasant four nights here.
The hotel is in a quiet side street but very close to main roads with restaurants, supermarkets and buses. Grands Boulevards and Peletier Metro stations are a short walk away.
Our room was quite small but the recent renovation has been done thoughtfully and makes good use of the space. The bed was big and very comfortable, with good quality bedding. The bathroom was fresh and modern with a roomy shower. We had asked for a room on the top floor, which was very quiet and peaceful. The lift, it has to be said, is very small and we were thankful that we only had hand luggage.
We liked the USB sockets by the bedside tables on each side. There was a kettle and tea/coffee supplies - but no milk, and as there's no fridge, herbal teas seemed our best option. Bottled water was supplied and replaced, which we appreciated.
Breakfast was quite a simple buffet with a coffee machine, and a helpful attendant, Marie, to keep it all running smoothly. Another coffee machine is at the disposal of guests any time, in a small lounge.
The whole place was very clean and well managed. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would return here if we ever visit Paris again.

This Inn, which we have just discovered, has contributed enormously to making our stay in Paris unforgettable. It is ideally located to make all the famous places of the capital easily accessible. Our duplex room on the 6th floor was spacious with a nice private terrace that offers a nice view of the beautiful rue Montyon, perfect bedding, spacious toilets too, great cleanliness, a small coffee/tea corner, and no noise nuisance. A royal breakfast with organic jams. Finally, all the staff (Hospitality, Breakfast, Cleaning) makes us unique for its attention, availability and kindness: it contributes a lot to optimize the entire hotel environment. Thank you very much to all these people for bringing this sweet human touch to our stay in Paris.
