As previous review said, it has a vermin problem which they are aware o. Should not be accepting guest until this is sorted. There are major works taking place next door and drilling starts at 8am not relaxing it felt like they were drilling in our room..

Short version: - Woke up to a mouse/rat on bedside table!!!! - Small, tired rooms (even the superior ones) - Overpriced! - Rude, incompetent staff. Terrible customer service. - AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Long version: My husband and I booked a trip to Paris to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary and we booked 3 nights at the Maison atheene hotel and paid an extra £150 for a superior suite. When we checked in, they asked to take a £150 pending deposit but didn't actually explain what for. Turns out it was incase we damaged anything during our stay so that wasn't exactly a hospitable welcome. Anyway, when we arrived we were initially underwhelmed by the hotel room. It was small, the decor was tired and the carpets were very worn. Wouldn't call it superior to be honest but it did have a small balcony terrace which was nice. On our first night we were awoken at 4am by the sound of rustling. To our horror, we realised it was infact a mouse/rat inches away from our head on the bedside table, nibbling at our packet of crisps! (See picture) After freaking out that a mouse or rat had potentially run across our bed while we were asleep, we went down to the lobby to explain what has happened and that we want to move room straight away! We were astounded to be met with an unapologetic and dismisive attitude. The staff member on reception got extremely defensive straight away and shrugged off our complaint by saying.... it's a problem in Paris, everywhere has vermin. He made out like it was no big deal and made us feel like we were being unreasonable! He didn't apologise for what and happened, he barely gave us eye contact! He told us all the hotels in Paris have this problem and there's nothing they can do about it. He moved us to another room on a higher floor which he said was also a superior room. When we got there it was smaller than the room before, with a tiny shower and no balcony terrace. We checked our new room and found holes behind the headboard big enough for mice to come through so we stuffed them with hand towels to make sure it didn't happen again. We both didn't sleep a wink in our new room untill the early hours to which we were then awoken by loud drilling/road works right outside the hotel. We decided to scour the internet to see if there was infact a problem with vermin in Paris, and like any other city, yes there is in streets and parks, but no mention whatsoever of any vermin problems in hotel rooms. Infact I only found 1 TripAdvisor review from 11 years ago about a mouse in a hotel room in Paris. We decided to pack our bags and leave the hotel in the morning and request a full refund. We spoke to the manager and although he dealt with us better than the last guy, we still found him defensive and he didn't really seem genuine in his apology. At one point he decided to point out that we paid "less than the usual price" because we booked with a Travelzoo deal. We took it that he was trying to insinuate that we shouldn't complain because we got a "good deal". The most shocking thing he said was that they are aware there is a problem with mice on the lower floors. The lower floors is where all the food is prepared!! So needless to say we didn't eat the breakfast there! The manager said that we would need to contact Travelzoo if we wanted a full refund. Luckily the customer service at Travelzoo was fantastic and we got a full refund within an hour! They were shocked at our experience and we're so apologetic. We asked the manager at Maison atheene if they could at the least pay for a taxi to get us to our new hotel that we had booked as a compensation gesture. This was denied so we had to foot the bill for this ourselves. We ended up staying in a different hotel for the rest of our stay and it was fabulous. We stayed at Rayz Eiffel hotel. They assured us they most certainly have no vermin in their hotel rooms and it isn't a common thing! Overall, the hotel rooms have holes behind those big dusty bed drapes that allow for vermin to come in. The rooms were overpriced and underwhelming. The staff were rude and incompetent. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!!

We just stayed at this super cute hotel and would certainly recommend it. The staff are very friendly and ready to help with anything you need. The location was close to the Opera Garnier, many metro stops and you can walk to the Arc de Triomphe or Louvre. There are lots of restaurants and a little grocery store on the street as well. Over all, I enjoyed our stay and I would definitely stay here again. (The rooms are cosy and I thought the bathrooms were a decent size for Paris 😁)

The Hotel Maison Athénée is a fabulous 4-star boutique hotel, in a superb quiet location. It is beautifully appointed and the staff take great care of their guests’ arrangements. I stayed in Room 103 and greatly enjoyed taking breakfast in its private courtyard. The room is typically Paris-snug but had every facility I needed, including a great shower and lavish furnishings. The hotel is within a comfortable walking distance of the main attractions and has a great authentic French restaurant next door — Les Bacchantes. Thanking Thibaut and Amélie for their kind help with all my Paris arrangements. I enjoyed my time at this hotel and would love to return.

Small property with 20 rooms makes your receiving a specialized experience a reality. Greeting us personally, storing our luggage until room was ready, recommendations for local restaurants and gracious communications enhanced our stay. Bar area is small and intimate. Rooms and bathroom are small but location is everything and walking to the many popular sites of Paris is easy. Bathroom has very good shower, nice television, windows open and beds are so soft it’s like being sandwiched between two marshmallows.

Paris was our first stop on a three week vacation and Paris is one of our favorite cities. Walking in to this hotel we knew we had made a perfect choice. The staff was wonderul and our room was small but, clean and updated with wonderful features. Comfortable bed and beautiful shower. We had breakfast at the hotel each morning and Sarah who worked there was great and so much help. This is a perfect hotel we will be coming back for sure! Thank you to all the staff you go that extra step to help your guests.

What a lovely boutique hotel. From the moment we entered we felt transported to a different place. The interior is rich and sumptuous. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. Our room was tastefully decorated and had everything we needed for a short stay in the beautiful city that is Paris. Really Good ventral location and in easy walking distance of the main tourist attractions. Lovely restaurants near by. Breakfast was lovely and just right. Would love to come back and visit again. Thank you for making our trip a success

Nestled in a little street between Madeleine, opera and Boulevard Haussman where the best department stores are located, Maison Athenee is extremely well located for those who want to explore Paris. But far to be just an hotel where you put your baggage and escape to do shopping and sightseeing, Maison Athenee has far more to offer to make of a stay in this exquisite hotel, a true experience. At first, we already loved the entrance, discreet, elegant before to get in into a small intimate lobby where you discover the talent of the world acclaimed designer Jacques Garcia. It's rich, opulent with red velvet and gold giving a certain feeling to be in a theater. Some wouldn't like and to be frank I.wouldnt pick this design for my own place but we immediately felt under this indescribable charm. On top of it, the local play was the best you can imagine. We've been very warmly welcomed by a young man, very polite, attentive and with a generous and true smile. Being French, I can regretfully say it's not always the case but at Maison Athenee, you can be sure to be wonderfully pampered by a team full of kindness having as the only goal to make guests happy to stay in such a lovely place. We had the nice surprise to have an upgrade from Standard to Superior room which was a truly appreciated gesture. We took the very tiny lift (not recommendable for claustrophobic people like me) to go to the fifth floor and discovered our room #501. This attic room was truly seducing and warm thanks again to the talent of the designer. Despite being a pretty small place, we had the feeling to be in a mini suite. We definitely loved this cocoon perfectly neat and perfectly equipped. We just regret not to find any coffee machine or water boiler but obviously you can give a call to the reception to have a coffee or a tea. Room was very pretty and quite luxurious on a way with very French printed fabric wall paper, a lovely desk with a nice written welcome message from the GM and a couple of complimentary mineral waters. Bathroom with separate toilet and rain shower was just perfect with excellent Hermes amenities and fluffy bathrobes and towels. Even the lighting, which is a topic that some guests are complaining, was perfect for us. Sincerely, and we've been in many ultra luxurious or prestigious hotels so we have high standards, we can just hardly recommend Maison Athenee which is so pretty, so comfortable and so warm. We just regretted not to have more time to enjoy a glass of champagne in the beautiful bar but we kind of randomly picked this hotel because we had a dinner in Paris and needed to be close to Roissy bus station for early departure so we had no real expectations and especially considering the super affordable price... which is even pretty cheap considering the location, the quality and the standard of this charming place. We would have loved to have more time to enjoy more but we will come back for sure. In the morning time, since I had to leave before 7am, I didn't even have time to take breakfast but my husband told me it was a delicious experience with best quality products and again a very kind service. So yes, despite of a few details we want to give 5 points and especially if we consider the incredible value. We just want to make of Maison Athenee, our residence when in Paris... divine.
