Les Halles
Historically the central iron-clad market of Paris, Les Halles has evolved architecturally since then but the pulsating energy has stayed the same. Now it houses the main shopping mall, which nestles underground surrounded by fast-food take-aways and international restaurants coupled with beautiful churches and the old commodity exchange. Parallel to it are the high-street stores of Rue de Rivoli and just parallel to that the Seine. The area bustles with faces from all continents and all ages at all times of the day. If enjoying high-street shopping with easy access to fast eateries and lively bars is on your agenda, this is the place to go.

the hotel was small and clean. It is located in the First Arrondissement, in the center of town. Very close to the island in the center of Paris. There is a subway stop essentially at the door of the hotel. The room for 2 people had a full bath. The room for one person had

I have reviewed before. This was my seventh stay in seven years. I really like this little hotel; it is in a fabulous location, the owners are lovely people and the few staff are equally lovely. I feel like a friend. Actually, when I walked in on this visit I was greeted with,

Hello, check in process in was relatively easy and someone always seemed to be at the front desk so you should be fine no matter what time you arrive.

I'm no spring chicken and neither is my wife, but when we were there in July last year we had arrived @ Chatelet Metro station after starting out at 6:30 AM in the Italian Cinque Terre. Making four train connecrions we arrived @ Paris Gare de Lyon about 8:45 PM. I know there were stairs but I have no real memory of them so I guess we made it and they left no lasting impression. My wife had a bag that weighed a ton plus a smaller strap on. I had a mid-sized roll along and a back pack.
