Clean, comfortable, superb location & inexpensive for Paris. Most comfortable bed ever. Desk clerks pleasant & helpful. Have stayed here many times over many years, but believe it is under new ownership, and they really seem to care. Terrific buffet breakfast extra, but unusually large for France. Many Parisian highlights walkable. Also very close to metro & bus lines. For... More

On my "The Traveling Professor" small group tours to Paris, we have been using the Grand Hotel des Balcons for the last several years. There are several reasons why this hotel is one that deserves a look. First of all, the location is excellent because it is near restaurants, transportation, and major attractions. The rooms are clean, comfortable in quiet.... More

We were extremely happy to have booked into "des Balcons." Its good reputation for friendliness to speakers of English is deserved. The staff were always helpful and pleasant. We liked the appearance of the hotel and its location, near the Odeon, on a quiet street. The beds were very comfortable, and the condition of the rooms and the lobby and... More

Very pleasant, classical Parisian 2/3 starts. They speak English, and the whole process of booking is very friendly. The hotel and rooms is very clean. The reception is helpful and the location is very good. The regular rooms are small, bur enough for 3 nights. The same with the bathroom, which is small but compact and useful. The only problem... I Have been coming to this hotel many times and I'm afraid this will be the last. Dreadful nights sleep for the duration mainly due to paper thin walls and what can only be described as an elephant occupying the room above me. Added to this was the noise made by housekeeping. Absolutely no consideration for guests I have never... More

This is a lovely small typically Parisienne hotel in a great location within walking distance of many tourist sites. Staying in Saint-Germain-des-Pres

Neighborhood Profile
Saint-Germain-des-Pres
In Saint-Germain-des-Prés, life is effortlessly chic and all things are beautiful. The main boulevard is dotted with famed terraced cafés, haut-couture shops, ivy-covered railings and fine-dining restaurants. Antique dealers and art galleries surround the fine art school and small museums hide in unassuming squares. The neighborhood’s namesake church is the oldest in Paris and is the backdrop for talented musicians every weekend. The Luxembourg Gardens house the national senate, splendid lawns and flourishing flower beds. Famous faces and bourgeois Parisians frequent Saint Germain accompanied by the students of Rue Saint Guillaume and Rue des Saints-Pères. This is a neighborhood where afternoon people-watching from a café or playing cards in a brasserie are a key part of the daily fabric.
