Canal Saint-Martin
The tree-lined Canal Saint-Martin is the focal point of one of the most romantic and hip areas of Paris. Watch boats travel along the canal while lovers and friends take in the atmosphere from the banks or the bridges. Evenings see hoards fill the embankments to drink wine and enjoy good company. The colder days lead people to hipster bars, cozy restaurants, and concert spaces. Those who are more adventurous may explore hidden gems down nearby streets, from local bars to futuristic architecture. With its enriching mix of people of all ages and backgrounds, this neighborhood has a dynamic, inspiring vibe.

The Belta is in a great location, handy for both the Gare de l'Est and the Gare du Nord. There are lots of small bars and restaurants nearby - I recommend L'Atmosphere. It is exactly what you would expect for the price. The rooms were clean and comfortable, everything worked and the water pressure for the shower was good. The staff on the front desk were fantastic, really helpful and friendly. If we return to Paris (and I am sure we will!), I would have no hesitation in staying here again.

Here at the hotel right now. The good. Hotel is old but very clean and well maintained. Room cleaned and towels daily. They took one of the plastic glasses and never replaced it but not a big deal. it has an elevator, small but sufficient, the hotel has 6 floors. WiFi working very on the 4th floor, can't comment on floors above. The washroom is small but clean and good shower. Not a lot of presure but it works. Room is also small, but this is what I paid for, a single room, one twin bed. There is no way 2 people will be accommodated in this room, again, I can't comment on double rooms. All rooms have a Juliet balcony or a small a balcony on floor above the 4th floor. Breakfast is continental. Minimal, but this is the industry standard in Europe. Only cheese and ham as the most important ones. You do get fresh baked bred every morning and hot croaisants but don't espect any eggs or variety of cheese and cold cuts. Same thing every morning. Staff is great. They've let me check in the room at 10 am instead at 2 pm.I only asked nicely. Location is good. Less than a km away from the East Station. Handy as you will need the Metro to get to the the centre. Paris is a large city, you will to ride the metro a lot therefore get yourself a Metropass. I have one for 3 days, cost me 53 Euros. Good value. THE BAD. There is a terrible smell of sewer in the room. It is common to the old buildings. Old Europe's plumbing basins and sinks and are drained with "S" traps, these don't stop water in the trap therefore they don't stop the sewer smell and gas coming into the room. No trap at l at the shower. North America uses "P" traps, superior and there no smell. I won't bother to report it, there is nothing to do about it unless they give me another room and hope that is better, I am here for two more nights and I'm gone. I will attach pictures when I get to my PC. Loading pictures from my phone is sluggish. cheers.

Good little hotel. However, the breakfast is very poor. No hot dishes, only few choices. They have a rather large place (all lower floor is reserved for breakfast,’they could offer more and maybe charge more for it). If you get it for free in your reservation you will not want to take it everyday. The bad was not comfortable, you could feel the spring ( didn’t happen at any other hotels during my 2 weeks trip). This hotel bad was rather bad. The location is very weird at during late evening. Watch your back, you get some werid people. It is not considered unsafe location however it is not as safe as other arrondissement. The guy at reception didn’t look really friendly but again I’m from Quebec where we are all smiley and friendly.

I stayed at this place between 06-09Nov 2018, single room, this hotel is located near Gare de lyon Train station, just 5-10minutes walk, comparing to the rates of other hotel this was reasonable at the time, perfect location to access the train station and visit other places which we need to go, the two gentlemen who were at the reception were so helpful and kind, they made my stay so easy and i was able to communicate easily and get necessary information.
