Dirty, under construction/ partial renovation. Dingy. I always do my homework and check Trip Advisor, but I messed up. I will formally contact Booking.com since this was basically false advertising. Do not be tricked by the fact that is on Rue Faubourg St. Honore, across...More

This area is characterized by its namesake avenue which extends northwest from the Louvre to the modern business district, punctuated by the iconic Arc de Triomphe. Grand embassies stand among impressive offices and presidential palaces; architecture from 19th century Universal Exhibitions, homes, art galleries, and 19th century streets designed by Baron Haussmann flank haute-couture boutiques. This
neighborhood never rests, buzzing with visitors from around the world at all times of day and night, all within a stone's throw of the Seine.

No speaking French is not a problem. A worst case scenario is take a little travellers language book - one of the little ones that has sample sentences in English and French and then simply point to the appropriate sentence. All the restaurants I ate at served lovely food. Be sure to smile and be courteous as you would be at home - Parisiens are a really warm friendly people and grateful to tourists who come to their City (in spite of troubles last year) They are very proud of their City as they should be. It's breathtakingly beautiful and unforgettable .Frank
