Quartier Latin
The Latin Quarter bursts with intellectual life, architectural splendor and ongoing merriment. The small streets are filled with classical buildings, student bars and lively eateries while the squares are dominated by historic monuments. The area is defined by the 800-year-old Sorbonne University, where Latin once prevailed, and is famous for the Pantheon which celebrates the great men and women of France. During the day students rush from classes to the library and intellectuals people watch from the terraced cafés. As night time falls the surrounding establishments fill up and the merriment really begins. The liveliest parts are around Rue Mouffetard, lined with crêperies and international street food eateries, and Place de la Contrescarpe characterised by terraced brasseries, this neighborhood provides real nourishment for the mind, belly, and soul.

We stayed at Relais Christine the first week in December, amid the transportation strike. This hotel exceeded every one of our expectations - it was a dream come true. The hotel is located on a little side street, a street that would probably be called an alley in the US. But your in the middle of all of the action, without the noise and crowds. Staying here was our splurge for our 35th wedding anniversary and the staff made it a truly memorable experience. The front desk staff were always cheerful and helpful, putting up with my poor attempts at speaking French. Everyone at the hotel was very friendly and polite. They were especially helpful in getting us transportation back to the airport while everything was in turmoil because of the strike. While we booked one of the smaller rooms, it was plenty large enough and was beautifully decorated. The window looked out onto a beautiful, quiet courtyard, and a rooftop skyline. The courtyard was beautifully decorated for the holidays, and the same was true for the spacious lobby. The honor bar was well stocked, and it was great to return to the hotel in the evening to enjoy a drink in the very comfortable room. While we were in Paris during the strike and couldn’t ride the metro, there are stations nearby the hotel, as well as bus routes. There are many great cafes and restaurants in the area (Le Christine and La Jacobine are two I would highly recommend), and being in the middle of the 5th Arrondisement puts you within easy walking distance of many of the attractions in Paris. When we return to Paris again, we will definitely stay here again.

I have stayed at Relais Christine multiple times. I always feel very welcomed and very much at home, versus staying in a hotel. Relais Christine is cozy , comfortable, yet very classy. The staff is very very friendly, professional, knowledgeable. I highly recommend staying here during your stay in Paris.

We stayed here for 3 nights the first week of December. The hotel was decorated for Christmas and looked like something out of a magazine. The staff could not have been better. They humored my poor French, made me feel like I was a king, and their food recommendations were spot on. The room was beautifully appointed and spotless. It felt like our own Parisian apartment and the location was perfect. I cannot say enough good things about the Relais Christine or her staff. This was a 5-star experience at a 5-star property. I could not recommend more.
