I was looking for a hotel for my friends and decided to check out the de Vigny. I parked my bicycle on a pole on the curb. I was literally egressed by their valet who told me that it was forbidden. As far as I know, the curb is not owned by the hotel, it is public. The guy was beyond rude and threatening. He gave me the chill and I thought he was going to hit me. I complained to the management but nobody seemed to care.

How could such a place fall in such a decrepitude? This hotel is the shell of itself. Everything looks to hit the fan, like a sort of a ruin of a great hotel, All things are threadbare: as soon as entering the reception hall, the parquet floor in front of the lift is worn to the fullest, as well as the parquet IN the lift, as well as the carpet when just coming out of the lift upstairs. We have been staying there for 3 nights. In the first suite, carpeting was covered with old spots of dirt, cushion of the 2 armchairs showed a large suspect "unidentifiable" spot, and, last but not least, in the midst of the bathroom, an electric panel was laid bare. After we complained, we were let to another suite. A little cleaner, but the metal piping of the central heating made horrible noises of expansion all night long, regularly stopping and as well coming back: so exasperating! I could hardly sleep for 2 hours. On the next morning, we complained about that noise: we were told by the woman at the reception, that the "technician" would come soon. So we decided to wait a little. One hour later, as nothing was happening, I called again for help: we were told that the technician was working in an other hotel and would come as sooner as possible. Gradually, we happened to wait until 4 P.M. ...After another angry call for some body to come, the receptionist woman came, looking rather unconcerned, but at last, 5 minutes later, the "technician" was in - let me say: so-called technician! as he told me about works they were doing upstairs; noise was drops regularly falling; he could not do nothing. Obviously he could not distinguish drops noise and expansion noise! Pity! Anyway, we had to pack up and go one more time to a 3rd suite!. Would it be the end of our troubles? Somehow, but not completely. A lot of details made things uncomfortable or at least far under the rate of the hotel: jet bath, advertised on website, did not work at all; heating was low, and no explanatory note to add electric heating; impossible to plug in the electric kettle for having tea in the morning ( the supporting table was attached stupidly screwed in the very front of the plug! ), shabby rug stained with 2 grey hardening spots, maybe chewing gum... a little disgusting! when getting out on the balcony, in the morning, discovering a long plant tub, rotten and fallen down, near a glass safeguard broken and filthy, rather dangerous! Definitely! Not even one assessment form as every room must provide... All I must say, for counterbalance so many drawbacks and unacceptable defects, is that when complaining on our leaving, on the last morning, the very nice man at the reception sadly admitted everything. He evidently knew all the problems of the hotel and gave me the address to send a claim. Would he have begun to deny evidences, we would have think it intolerable. That's the way we received 3 weeks later a mail from the general director, telling us it was impossible (?) for them to pay back our rental, because we had rent thru a travel agency. But he could offer us a 2 days stay, not in a suite (?), but in an executive room, with view on Tour Eiffel, in their other hotel, nearly in front of the Vigny, the "Balzac". A half compensation, and restrictive to people who could come back, and obliging them to come back for compensation. We have chosen that sort of half-measure... And, coming for Christmas to the Balzac, we were consequently ...half content... But it's another story.

A delightful little hotel at an excellent location at half the price of others in the neighborhood. A very helpful front desk gentleman named Francis was particularly helpful. Lovely suite on fifth floor. Will stay again!

Great location right by the Arc de Triumph, the metro, the shops. Customer service was great and the rooms were pleasantly decorated. Breakfast daily was included with our rate and we had it in our room.
