We spent a long weekend City Break (train and hotel) booked hastily through Lastminute.com. The Hotel Mercure Place d'Italie was a comfortable hotel and on the whole our stay was pleasant. Lastminute.com described it as a hotel "in the heart of Paris" with "rooms with views over the Pantheon and Eiffel Tower" but they are incorrect, obviously confusing it with...

The location is excellent - very close to metro stops. The room is tiny, dark but clean. We were at the 2nd floor close to the stairs. We could hear people going ups and downs on the stairs, especially at night time. I think the hotel rated as 4 stars is a little misleading. It should be more like 3...

I initially booked 2 nights but was not really impressed with the quality of the room. Compared to other Mercure properties, I felt that this was a little bit dated and it was not my most favorite part of town. I had a coworker staying in near the Pantheon and decided to book my second night at their hotel.

Dear Guest, thank you very much for your kind review. We are happy that you enjoy our staff service and your stay between us. All our rooms have windows with double glazing, so they are normally quiet. But of course, in the middle of a big city, full of life like Paris, there are some background noises. For your next...

Good hotel, clean rooms with safe and small refrigerator. Ideal for self bought drinks. Small bar,no drafted beers, only bottled. Loungeroom. Breakfast non continental really French, but just enough choice. No restaurant. A few own parkingspaces (2) in a nearby parking. 3 times a week local market in front of the hotel (Tuesday, Friday and Sunday)

Paris synonymous with love is the first thing that comes to anyone's mind. We stayed in Paris for 6 nights and I chose this hotel for its proximity to the centre of Paris and the mix of a choice of budgeted places to eat. The concept of 4 star accommodation has completely baffled me as we expect not only a...

Dear Guest, thank you very much for your review. We are glad that you have appreciated the location of the hotel, situated in the typical parisian district of "La butte aux Cailles", with a lot of restaurants, shops and little markets. The hotel was conveniently located. The check in was easy and room was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was clean. The beds were comfy. We awoke to a lovely farmer's market on Sunday morning outside the hotel. There were lots of different stalls selling cheese, produce, meats, bread, seafood, lots of neat things.

I stayed there for one night only - he service is ok, the rooms are clean and modern; however, a bit small. The best thing about this hotel is its location. it is near a metro which will get you to wherever you need to get to. And what fascinated us the most was a bakery a couple of blocks...

Staying in Place d'Italie / Quartier Asiatique

Neighborhood Profile
Place d'Italie / Quartier Asiatique
Far off the beaten path, this part of Paris is a forgotten gem worth exploring. Avenue d’Ivry houses Europe's largest Chinatown with great Asian supermarkets and shops, and a thrilling atmosphere around Chinese New Year. Place d’Italie impresses onlookers as soon as they set their eyes on it. Not far, around La Butte aux Cailles, the streets suddenly imitate provincial France and you’ll feel like you’ve been transported. The beauty of these streets lies in their surprises around every twist and turn.
