We stayed for nearly a week revisiting Paris after several years. Following advice from reviewers,we booked a superior courtside room. The room was spacious and very comfortable. However, the courtyard is the location for receptions and other events including music. Most ended at a reasonable hour, usually by 10:00 or so. It is impossible not to have some noise just... More

We have stayed at this hotel before and the quality and standards continue to be maintained at a very high level....location is great in terms of metro access and walking to Marais, la Republique (and Bataclan), Bastille...even Notre Dame unless you don't enjoy walking the streets of Paris!!! Staff extremely helpful and accommodating, breakfast is first class as are facilities...we... More

Except for the bathroom of my room, all the hotel looks good although It is not brand new (furniture are not modern). Middle size room which don't allow a direct control of the temperature. Good breakfast. WiFi for free. Position very close to metro n. 8 but in a part of Paris which is not my favorite one. Finally suggested... More

Comfortable well presented room, excellent service with friendly helpful staff. Large hotel with many sections named after famous artists. Surrounding courtyard very spacious, with quaint areas to find privacy. The buffet breakfast was more than ample. Well positioned with only a few minutes walk to the Metro, and within easy walking distance of several major tourist attractions. Lots of cafe's... More

About mid way between Republique and Bastille in a quiet street which runs parallel to Bvd Beaumarchais, this hotel is handy to all that the Marais district offers, especially its cafes, restaurants and shops.. A Metro station is virtually at the hotel's front door. The staff throughout the hotel were delightfully pleasant and helpful. The buffet breakfast would not disappoint... More

This was our first trip to Paris, and we wanted a hotel close to the Marais and also a subway station with good connections in order to quickly get to the rest of Paris without too many changeovers. This place fit the bill. First of all, the location was brilliant. You're in Marais with a ten minute walk, but the... More

We booked this hotel as part of our New Year celebrations in Paris. The hotel is 15 minutes from Gare du Nord for those arriving via the Eurostar. It is located close to the Marais district and is well located for various bars and restaurants. The public areas are fine with a light airy reception and bar area. The rooms... More

Excellent location for this hotel, in a very central area (5 mins walk from Bastille, 5 mins from République, 30 mins from Gare de Lyon, 35 mins from Châtelet). The Filles du Calvaire area is arty, bourgeois-bohème, happening (but sadly mourned by the january 2015 and november 2015 terrorist attacks), lively, with plenty of great and yet affordable cafés, restaurants,... Staying in Bastille / Oberkampf

Neighborhood Profile
Bastille / Oberkampf
Bastille and Oberkampf are lively parts of town made for entertainment. During the day rows of unassuming bars welcome customers for a bite or a drink, but it’s at night this area really comes to life. Students and young professionals fill the busy bars around Bastille and Oberkampf. At Place de la Bastille, crowds flock to the Opéra Bastille in the evening and groups wait for coveted tickets during the day. Towards Republique, skateboarders practice their tricks while others chill out at the square. If you’re looking for late-night revelry, this is your neighborhood.
