Hotel Lutetia is an iconic landmark situated in the vibrant Saint-Germain-des-Pres area of Paris and the only luxury grand hotel on the city's Left Bank. Originally opened in 1910, the building's design was a daring move from art nouveau to the emerging style of art deco. The Lutetia delivers an authentic Parisian experience and has been at the heart of the local community for more than 100 years. The hotel now features an eclectic mix of restaurants, bars and lounges throughout the historical ground floor including the return of the Lutetia Brasserie under the supervision of three Michelin starred chef Gerald Passedat. Unique to the area, Akasha Holistic Wellbeing Centre, is Lutetia's 700 sqm/7,500 sqft spa dedicated to wellbeing and fitness featuring a 17m swimming pool bathed in natural daylight.

Hôtel Lutetia garners high praise for its impeccable service and cleanliness, with the marble bathrooms and housekeeping receiving particular mention. Nestled in a prime Paris location, guests often describe their stay as enhancing their city experience.
While the hotel commands a premium, many guests feel the luxurious experience and amenities like the spa and modern room technology offer good value. The stylish and welcoming atmosphere appeals to a diverse clientele, and the well-appointed rooms, though sometimes small, are celebrated for their comfort and luxury.

Delightful and elegant hotel with the best staff. They will do anything they can to accommodate you. Spa and gym area wonderful and the pool is an added delight. Rooms are small and expensive but perfectly appointment. Try to get a room with two bathroom sinks if possible as the ones with one sink are very tight. The location is perfect, the bar is happening!

Hôtel Lutetia is absolutely perfect and I would highly recommend this property, especially to Americans. The staff truly knows how to host and make you feel special. The rooms are timelessly stylish and modern. Gastronomy is excellent. And the spa, WOW! Five stars all around.

This is a strikingly beautiful contemporary designed facility providing 10 star service.
Our deluxe category king bed room was large (especially by Paris standards), had an enormous bathroom (double sinks, tub, large walk in in shower, excellent storage, excellent lighting) and an entry foyer the housed a medium size closet with many drawers, fridge, and safe. Lighting in the sleeping area was excellent once we learned how it worked. (suggestion for future guests: don't let the reception host who shows you the room leave until you thoroughly understand the lighting). An extremely positive feature was that the air conditioning worked even though it was January.
We have stayed in many 5 star luxury hotels in Paris and around the world and have never experienced the level of service that we enjoyed here. Every staff member we encountered truly wanted to help in any way possible. They were all pleasant, polite, and efficient without being snooty.
The location couldn't be beat. There were scores of restaurants and cafes within a 10 minute walk (we highly recommend Monteverdi, an Italian restaurant on the left bank)
The only negative, and it is a significant one, is that the fan in HVAC system comes for 5 seconds, then is off for five seconds, and then comes on for five seconds, off for 5 seconds, continually. Numerous attempts to correct this failed and we were eventually told this was how the system was designed to operate and that changing rooms wouldn't help. I am certain that the ownership/management of this otherwise 10 star establishment will solve this problem. Once they do, we will eagerly return.

Dear PickyAboutHotels, We thank you for sharing your detailed feedback on your stay at the Hotel Lutetia and delighted to read you had a great time with us. It is a pleasure to read you enjoyed the experience, from the neighborhood to the room, along with the excellent service our team provide. Regarding your note about AC, please kindly note we identified the issue you encountered, and resolved it. Indeed, your AC had not identified the room was ‘checked-in’ and it didn’t change its basic ‘eco’ functioning (the mode we use when the room is unoccupied not to waste energy, and be aligned with our sustainability policy). We are sorry for this, and sincerely hope to welcome you very soon for an unforgettable 6-star experience! Looking forward to welcoming you soon again on the Left Bank, Best regards, Isabelle Bouvier, Hotel Manager

Stayed at the hotel in October of 2019, and I had high hopes for the hotel given so many accolades and good press, but was really left disappointed with the unfortunate room we got. I used a corporate rate, so I believe this is the reason I received a room smaller than any photo I’ve seen, but it really only was able to fit the king sized bed plus a small table on the side; it just felt claustrophobic. I do think there were high quality touches throughout the room, such as the champagne glasses and bed sheets of high quality.
One constructive comment - the bathroom had no place to hang a towel inside or right outside the shower (not even thrown over the door since it went to the ceiling), so I had to walk 5 feet out into the cold bathroom from my shower to get a towel. Please consider adding a rack inside the shower or even on the door!! This was such a small thing that really makes a difference.
Ultimately I think this hotel is nice of course and a great location, but the size of the room was nothing like I had seen photos of on the website and that just made the stay really unpleasant. My #1 suggestion is to find out the size of your room before you stay!

Check in was truly a delight, even having just stepped off an 8 hour overnight flight. The staff at the front door ensured an effortless exit from the car and to the front desk that felt choreographed to perfection. Front desk staff were helpful in explaining everything about the hotel and about the room, including a very cool Smart Home setup to adjust the lights and window treatment anywhere in the room, even from bed.
Room amenities were really exceptional, which is wonderful since I spent most of the my time there (just in Paris for 24 hours en route to Switzerland).
They accommodated my simple request for a bathtub with an opulent marble Italian Shower room with large marble soaker tub and open rainfall shower for the remainder of the room. Very thoughtful details in the bathroom amenities. Truly nice to relax in while recovering from jetlag.
I might not have needed such a marvelous tub, given that I had the beautiful pool, hot tub, sauna, and steam cave all to myself that evening. (I still enjoyed the tub anyway... ) Staff on at the spa and pool were once again accommodating, hospitable, and consummately professional.
Back in the room, the towels and bedding were absolutely impeccable and the big pillows were a great touch that too many places miss. The view of the courtyard was actually lovely, even if I'd hoped for a city view. The benefit was a little extra quietude in a busy part of the left bank.
The minibar was well stocked and a sleek design, even if all I had was a bag of chips in a moment of desperation. Room service is available all the time, and was a classic setup. Jetlag kept me away from the Bar Josephine, and I will regret it until I make it back, because it looked really lovely, with some inventive cocktails.
Upon checking out, I stored my bags to make a trip to Le Bon Marché and La Grande Épicerie and once again, the hotel team handled everything as if it had been rehearsed, down to managing my bags while my driver slowly sauntered towards the hotel.
I hardly felt I deserved the attention the staff provide to making the stay pleasant, but I was very happy to have a full 24 hours of relaxation before I continued on my way. Looking forward to staying again next time I'm in Paris for a proper visit.

Yes, it is pricey, but worth every penny. This Hotel Exceeded our expectations – and my wife and I travel extensively worldwide about a third of the year, so it is not an easy benchmark to reach. The rooms were beautiful – the kind where you feel money was no object when creating the interiors.. solid marble tubs, separate huge showers with amazing water pressure, and hot, hot water. Beautiful Linens and Towels, Clean and fresh everywhere. We had a junior Suite, with a huge balcony overlooking the park… [and did I mention Hermes and Bon Marche were right around the corner]. The pool and spa are also marble filled [we had a couples massage and it was in the top ten!]. The Manager of the Hotel accomplished something amazing – the staff were omnipresent, yet respectful of privacy. There were many wonderful surprises, which I do not want to spoil – Would stay here over Crillon, Manderin, or any other of the “Name” hotels, which we have stayed in the past… not that they aren’t great, but that the personal touches here were simply phenomenal.
Please note, the reviews vary in Paris, and I believe in part that it it totally room dependent - if you purchase the bottom rung room, I believe your experience will be different - this is very normal to Paris, where all the buildings are historic and thus it is impossible to have cookie cutter similarities..

My family recently returned from a 5 night stay at the Lutetia. The I The hotel has been completely renovated and updated. It’s not the same as it was in all the best ways. The original was preserved. The lobby and bar are beautiful. Reception was very efficient and pleasant. Having previously stayed at the Lutetia I was familiar with the quirky/ irregular sized/shaped rooms. This is not a hotel with a standard floor plan which is part of its charm. Not for everyone but we love it for its homey atmosphere. The room service breakfast and service was outstanding. The rooms we stayed in were both very clean and comfortable. However, housekeeping itself was not very efficient and seemed to be quite understaffed. The bar is beautiful and the staff exceptional.
The hotel’s bistro is the only area of complaint. It was not open with its full menu any day of our trip. Seemed odd. We ate off the short menu on one of our afternoons and it was almost inedible. The onion soup was bland and it’s deconstructed presentation did not make up for its lack of flavor. The shrimp mushy and tasteless. Skip the Lutetia bistro and go to the one diagonally across the street if you want a bite next to the hotel. The location is reason enough to love the Lutetia. We will be returning again.

The four year renovation did more than just modernize the Hotel Lutetia; it made it one of the best hotels in Paris…and that says a lot. From the very chic and clean lobby and Bar Josephine to the amazing pool & spa area, the hotel is elegant luxury without being stuffy. The rooms are tastefully done in rich jewel tones that really quiet one’s senses after the hustle & bustle of Paris. The bathrooms are spacious with both shower and tub and Hermes products (a Hermes flagship store is just around the corner). The windows are amazing and even if you are facing the busy Boulevard Raspail you will not hear a thing - even on New Year’s Eve! The pool, steam and sauna area are a wonderful way to unwind after a day out and about. Avail yourself of the concierge for dinner recommendations as they never steered us wrong. The location is amazing with walking to not only Left Bank attractions but it is also not far from the Pont Royal to get you across the Seine to the Louvre. If there is one downside, there are no “double” rooms. This means families traveling must take two rooms. This can be really pricey for an already very pricey hotel. However, they often run specials with 50% off the second room so well worth watching (or asking) for those. If it is in your budget, try the Eiffel Suite where you can watch the Eiffel Tower light up every 60 minutes!

We just spent eight nights here and the inconsistencies are glaring. The Hotel Lutetia is beautiful, although since it has been remodeled, it’s lacking true Parisian charm. The rooms are very stark, contemporary, drab and unwelcoming. The bathrooms are luxurious and all marble…consider using great care on wet marble floors. There were no mats provided. The amenities are lovely but housekeeping is completely inconsistent. Some days the rooms were restocked with beautiful amenities…other days not at all. We found it annoying that unpredictably staff would come in to restock the minibar. Should have been done at the time housekeeping was completed. The concierge desk was friendly and helpful as was the front desk. The Brasserie is wonderful but the bar extremely unfriendly. See the pattern here? Some things about this Hotel are truly 5 star…others are simply not. You can’t beat the location as the 6th arrondissement is absolutely lovely.

Wife and I went back to the very place we last stayed in late February 2021 Pre-Covid: The Hotel Lutetia. And, as usual, it did not disappoint. Even with two issues that could have been handled poorly by other hotels, the Lutetia was all class. Let me explain:
1. Upon check-in after our sojourn in San Sebastián (see my separate review on Hotel Akelare… a true gem), we learned that the Lutetia somehow lost track of our upgrade to a suite with a balcony. Not a big deal, as they had a suite without balcony available. However, the suite with balcony is larger, so it wasn’t so much the balcony but the size needed. Oleg at the front desk handled the entire situation outstandingly. Not only did he provide us with free round of drinks at the Lutetia’s incredibly beautiful Bar Josephine (a MUST visit even if you’re not a guest; easily one of the best and most beautiful cocktail bars in Europe), but was able to upgrade us to a full suite— the top suite at the hotel short of their specialty and Presidential suites. More importantly, Oleg took the issue personally, and expressed deep concern over our initial disappointment with sincerity. Oleg gave a masterclass to anyone interested in the hospitality business on how to treat a client. Thank you, Oleg!
2. Though the Bar Josephine does not take reservation from no -guests, they WILL seek to accommodate requests for seating location and time slots from their hotel guests. As such, when I made a rez for a nice table for the night after our friends and I drank the night away, when we arrived, they did not have us marked anywhere. But it was of no moment, as they hurried to ensure we were seated in exactly the spot I reserved after treating us to a round of drinks in their “Library” area (a beautiful center hall area with comfortable seats and, well, not truly a library in the quiet sense of the word). Again, many thanks to Gregory for handling the awkward situation with aplomb.
One more p pint I’d like to raise: note that there is a huge difference between 5 star hotels not only around the globe, but even in grand cosmopolitan cities such as Paris. The Hotel Lutetia stands near the too in that category as a “Palace” 5 Star hotel.
