The hotel also has the small rooms typical for Paris, but is nice and clean. I got a room to the backside on upper floor and slept very well. Staff was very friendly and attentive and spoke good English.
A very pleasant and friendly hotel right next to a Metro station which makes it very easy to get to and from. Very nice room and good breakfast. It is right next to a square which has plenty of shops and bistros, a couple of which we thought were very good.
My husband and I chose this hotel due to the proximity to the Metro and also because we wanted to stay in the 11th. We booked the privilege Room and while we couldn't get the exact Room number we wanted, the room provided was clean and nicely sized. We had a king size bed, in-room safe and a refrigerator to store our booze. If there is one complaint I would have it is that because we were so close to the elevator we could hear the incessant clicking as we tried to sleep. It wasn't a deal breaker but I would certainly choose a room that was not directly next to the elevator in the future. I would not mind staying at this property again. It was very close to plenty of bistros and boulangeries so we had no problems getting an early morning or late night meal. The DIRECT access to the Metro (Voltaire) made it easy to get around Paris. With so many hotels to pick from it can be overwhelming to try to find a place to stay. Especially if this is your 1st time visiting Paris like it was for us. This hotel had the basics covered. It was clean, comfortable and accessible. Charly at the front desk was very kind and helpful. All in all, this is a decent, reliable hotel. Found this hotel by chance and ended up staying more nights than planned because they've got everything covered making for a very comfortable stay. Great location and great amenities. The upper floors (Privelege) are worth the extra money for the extra space. But it was refreshing to have everything you need for a great stay and the two different ladies at the front desk are so friendly and efficient. Merci beaucoup!
Lovely hotel, staff very helpful would stay again, rooms were a great size, maybe we were lucky and was allocated a good one, but a great experience even though there were some demonstrations about the trains, never felt threatened at all close to some lovely restaurants too
I stayed 3 nights here Oct 26-29. My views about the hotel are mixed. I had chosen it primarily for location: my travelling companion and I were visiting a friend on university sabbatical who was living about 15 minute walk away. Also, I am a Club Accor member and have found the Mercure brand generally reliable. The hotel fit both reasons. It is virtually next door to the Voltaire Metro station and about a 15 minute walk to Place de la Bastille and/or other Metro stops. The room we had was good size and very clean, although some noise overlooking the street. The bathroom was large, a bonus for 2 middle-aged women sharing a room. The shower in this particular room, however, was not in a tub or stall but flush with the floor so one had to be extremely careful so as not to spray water all over. Even then, one had a wet floor. Staff at reception and in the breakfast room were pleasant - but it helped, I think, that my friend is a francophone Quebecer so language was not an issue. Overall, a decent place but I would likely not return. There are areas I like better in Paris. But decent value for money if this is where you want to be.…
As a silver member, I'm supposed to get a free drink, I guess this was the 50cl bottle of water , which was a bit rubbish. It would have nice to get one of these per day at over 200 Euros per night. The room was als very warm and the A/C only made it warmer. I had to sleep with the balcony doors open, although luckily these opened onto the courtyard so it was reasonably quiet. The bed was also a bit hard for me.
The room was ok, a bit tired looking, bed comfortable. The bathroom not bad, a bit dark with dark red decor so not ideal, but with very thin scratchy towels. The mini bar console looked like it was about to collapse. The main issue is that this hotel is located near a very busy junction. We stayed on the 8th floor of the hotel (in the best room available) and the noise from the street is somehow funnelled up the tall buildings directly to the room. It was a warm October weekend so the room was very stuffy - but the air conditioning was switched off for the winter, so we had to have a window open. This meant that sleep was almost impossible. Every five minutes a siren goes by, or a noisy scooter, or a trash truck or a crowd of drunken people... The only way we were able to sleep was with sleeping pills, eventually passing out exhausted at 2am. We were due to stay 3 nights but gave up after the 2nd night and moved to a much more peaceful (but expensive) hotel. The Mercure were kind enough to give us a 20% discount on our room rate for the 2 nights, so they did the best they could I suppose. But sadly I'm unlikely to ever stay in a Mercure again - at least not in Paris.…
Our room was very clean, with daily housekeeping. Bathrobes, slippers, and towels are provided. If you want any english tv to watch I would suggest bringing an HDMI cable and laptop as all channels are french, which was not an issue. All receptionists were polite! They made a reservation at a restaurant for us. The security guard was extremely helpful. Be wary of pickpockets at the station near the hotel as it is a notorious place to be robbed, however, the staff was very useful in contacting the police. Very romantic rooms and would 100% recommend for couples.
We arrived for our 2 night stay to be told there was a technical issue and we would have to stay in another hotel. The man at reception told us he would call the taxi but 10 mins later he still hadn't called one. Then eventually a taxi was called and the receptionist went out to the taxi when it arrived and sent it away again. We then had to wait a total of 45mins before we were eventually told we could stay in the hotel we had booked and paid for. No apology or nice gesture for wasting our time. Location was fine but overall you could do better for the price paid.
