After booking the hotel on line, when we arrived in front of the Hotel it was closed. It had been closed for two years. Luckily it wasn’t the high tourist season and we managed to go down the street and book another hotel. We spent all morning trying to get reimbursed from Expedia.
We booked this hotel before Corona crisis arived in Europe - for a period where later the hotel was closed because of Corona. To support the hotel we agreed on to move our vacation here by one year without asking to get our money back what we had paid in advance - sure assumed that a stay would be possible this year. Now after it is as well not possible to do a touristic trip to Paris this year the hotel is ignoring any contact! They keep the paid money completely even for breakfast!
It is extremely difficult to get help from the Grand Hotel Saint Michel. Have booked a room from 8 / 10-11 / 10-2020. There was no prepayment and free cancellation until June 6, 10-2020. On the 11/6, I canceled the hotel, and later that day the hotel spared a number of thousands in my account even though I had canceled. According to my bank, the money is to be withdrawn on December 26, ie in 3 days. I have tried to get help through booking.com, but Grand Hotel Saint Michel does not answer me nor booking.com. Seemed to be poor service and it leaves me in the uncertainty. Can't recommend this place, unfortunately.
First of all this hotel was so pretty and cute and quaint. They have the atmosphere down. I am American from SF and LA and Seattle. Me and my husband loved it here. They gave us a great room as total newbies and treated us with love and care. We are two huge men and we loved our room. The area is rich with food and drinks and people speech good enough English to take your order. We just absolutely loved it here 5 stars. We walked 1 hr to the Eiffel Tower and back and it was perfect. Don’t take a Uber just walk. Safe streets and love people. I want to go back already and I haven’t even left. Thanks for the best. We will book again.
Small hotel on a quiet side street but close to the Sorbonne, and many restaurants and bookshops. Outside it’s a classic Parisian building, inside rooms are modern and stylishly comfortable. Nice amenities such as Clarins toiletries, spa on-site. Breakfast buffet was good but pricey. We prefer a la carte option or smaller traditional breakfast instead. Would we stay at this lovely hotel again? Yes, most definitely.
We stayed at the hotel in July 2017 during a family trip. My husband and I were the first to arrive. Our room and bathroom were tiny but what view!!! Our family had total of four rooms and they were all different. Upon arrival I explained to the front desk that this trip is a dream come true for my 82 yr old mom and I wanted to make it extra special. They assign her a single room with a small balcony. It was perfect! She felt like a princess. The breakfast was included and it was delicious. Also we couldn't ask for a better location. The neighborhood is great with transportation is nearby. I will definitely recommend this hotel and am looking forward to returning.
he hotel is modest-sized, sort of boutique. We stayed for 2 nights - a family of 5 in 1 family room and double room - 2 rooms Excellent communication some few days before arrival. Good location in the centre of Paris with shops and restaurants nearby, but not directly on the high street so it's more quiet. No parking though but street parking outside the hotel which cost 4 euros per hour. The check-in was smooth and the staff are polite and professional. The dining room was cosy and small, but the breakfast selection was small and extremely limited for picky eaters. The rooms were nice and the beds comfy - although double beds are singles put together, not unusual in hotels but it does not make for easy intimacy. The hotel has a sauna and gym in its base (where they also have the dining area). Overall it was lovely. Thanks all.…
My overall rating of this property is somewhere between "Average" and "Very Good", but there is no such option. We had a mixed experience at GHSM that would be more accurately characterized as "Good" overall. The staff could not have been any more accommodating... every concierge and housekeeper went out of their way to make us comfortable. The property itself was in need of attention. When I opened the door to our room, I was greeted by a number of carpet stains and an unpleasant cleaning product odor. Not small spots, but big patches of stain. Side chairs were covered with sticky vinyl material and the hotel information guide was tattered. On the bright side, the bed was comfortable with clean linens and the shower had good pressure. I hid as much of the tattered, depressing stuff as possible in the closet and cracked the window. We avoided having our room cleaned during the rest of our stay. We made it work, until we switched to our second hotel in a different part of town, but it was more work than I was interested in doing while on vacation. The photos online depict a cleaner, fresher more minimalist hotel with more upscale amenities than the one that we encountered in person.…
I wish we could have stayed longer than one night - but alas we enjoyed the time we had here. We were able to visit lots of sites within walking distance and the location was perfect. Would recommend.
Nicely renovated boutique hotel in Latin Quarter, within walking distance to La Sorbonne, Pantheon, Luxembourg Gardens. We stayed in a Superior room which was one of their medium sized rooms with a king bed, that overlooked the street corner. Because of its closeness to La Sorbonne, night sounds were too obvious with street voices and vehicle sounds. The breakfast buffet offered a variety of selections. On one day, there were at 3 egg dishes; wish they offered all the times. Coffee, latte, or cafe au lair was very good. Waitress staff was excellent. Front office staff were attentive and made sure one was aware of possible demonstrations and metro closures or changes in availability. We didn’t have time to use the spa (complimentary) or have afternoon tea or coffee & breakfast pastries.…
