We booked this hotel before COVID had swept the world. Our trip was planned for March 2020 and was completely canceled due to having to quarantine 14 days and just to be safe - after all, it was the beginning of the pandemic and we were planning to travel with children. We did not ask for a refund, just a voucher to stay in the future because we plan to visit Paris as soon as it is safe. They denied us ANYTHING and had ZERO customer service and again we asked for a voucher - not a refund. I understand they are a smaller hotel but expected WAY more from a 5-star property/ it was also for my birthday. BEWARE - DO NOT BOOK THIS DURING THE PANDEMIC, YOU WILL COMPLETELY LOSE YOUR MONEY IF YOU DON'T GO.

We booked this hotel due to its location and rooftop terrace to watch the fireworks. I’ve stayed in Paris many times before and the customer service is hit or miss. First thing is I have to say the customer service at this hotel was top notch. The doormen and concierge were always so kind and helpful. When asked questions, the concierge was responsive and helped us book reservations right away. The front desk staff was also very welcoming. However, when we got to our room, we were surprised that there were so many cracks and chipped paint in areas. There was also mold in our bathroom. We reported our disappointment in the room and we were loved to another room the next day. They were apologetic and gave some free goodies and also comped our NY day brunch (130€/pp). The wait staff though did not speak English well. The new room was in much better shape. The rooms overall were spacious. It is a more traditional and older feel but very clean and comfortable. The location is excellent as the train stop is nearby. But during this time the trains weren’t working due to the strike. For NYE on the roof top, you can see both the Eiffel and the Arc du Triumphe. We enjoyed the amazing fireworks show. Overall, I would recommend this hotel if you would like to enjoy the rooftop terrace and like a more spacious room in Paris. The service was also excellent.

Dear tinklemd, first of all best wishes for the new year! Thank you for your kind comment that I have shared with the entire team, always a pleasure to read sich positive reviews. I am pleased to read that your enjoyed our spacious rooms, indeed space is a rare commodity nowadays and the hotel is a rare testimony to a bygone era when travellers use to travel overseas with trunks and stayed many weeks in the same place, hence the large dressing rooms/storage space and large rooms. We do our best to upkeep the rooms in an ongoing manner, I am happy that your new room suited best your needs. The team is fantastic overall, very eager to please and ensure every guest has a memorable experience. Our terrace is very unique indeed, I hope you will be able to visit us again soon! thank you again and best regards, Yves Wencker

I booked my room via booking.com. I arrived late in the evening after a long busy day traveling and business dinner, the check in was smooth. The lobby and room looked elegant at first glance. There was delicious welcome cakes waiting in the room too. I got room 015. The big horrible surprised hit me in the morning when entered bathroom which was a worn down bathroom with cracked tiles, rusted faucets, fittings and shower head and worst enough black mould at the corner of bath tub and with a discolored dusty hairdryer hangin there (there was a new one in the room) but look this one was horrible!!? The worst and most unbeleivable part came, I saw a smal half an inch cockroach walking on the wall right below towel rack!! If I had seen this last night I could not sleep there at any costs. The wall paints in the room was peeling near the floor in some areas near entrance. I checked out in the morning, receptionist promise he will send someone to take care of cockroach. Later booking.com refused to publish my review, which is based on my personal experience in room they booked me in, against the fact I am a member since 15 years; sorry booking.com I never book through you. I do not think all their rooms are like that but I know cockroaches can go anywhere, specialy the little ones!!!?

Dear Mohammadreza A, thank you for your review which I have read with great interest. To start with let me offer you our most sincere apologies for what seems to have been a terrible experience. I can only reassure you that these are not the standards we live up to and that the hotel and its team is worth its five stars. In regards to pest control we do have all the necessary prevention in place, I can understand your disppointment. This is clearly not acceptable. The rooms are spacious and elegant overall Indeed, we do work on maintaining our property in a consistant way, I am terribly sorry, once again if this did not show. I would be happy to invite you and visit our most recently renovated rooms during a future stay at your convenience. The team and I would welcome a second chance, the Raphael deserves it. I look forward to hear from you. Yves.wencker@raphael-hotel.com best regards, Yves Wencker
