Detailed Reviews

Located in the very cosmopolitan district of Le Marais and within the Place des Vosges, this is a beautifully charming Parisian boutique hotel.
The entrance to the hotel is what you envisage every Parisian hotel should look like. The hotel is tastefully decorated, with a stylish lounge that doubles as the breakfast and evening dining room, along with the library and outdoor terrace. It was so enjoyable to sit in the terrace as the sun sets for aperitifs or a digestive in the evening, or just to have breakfast or dinner.
We had breakfast at the hotel on every morning of our stay, which was enjoyable. Breakfast consisted of a buffet selection, and cooked eggs were also on offer, and cooked to your liking (scrambled, omelette), along with freshly brewed tea and coffee which was brought to your table.
We booked a superior room, which was a reasonable size that overlooked a gorgeous courtyard garden, and the bathroom is off the bedroom, as is the separate toilet. To access the shower in the bathroom you have to step into the deep bath which was a little awkward to step into, and the shower/bath had a privacy and shower curtain, which I don’t particularly like.
The entrance between the bedroom, bathroom and toilet is also very narrow.
The bed and pillows were comfortable, the room had in-room air conditioning, safe and tea and coffee making facilities. I thought the bedroom furniture was quite dark and looked tired, and not really the antique style or the French provincial style I was personally expecting in a boutique hotel. The hotel has a lift, although quite tiny, however that’s not unusual for European boutique hotels.
The staff were friendly, engaging and very helpful and most spoke English (as a second language), which helped us immensely.
The hotel is opposite the Place des Vosges and surrounded by cafes, restaurants, bars, boutique art galleries and several smaller museums, along with Victor Hugo's house which is only a 2-min walk from the hotel, all worth visiting.
The streets in and around the hotel were a joy to meander in and there is so much history in the area to enjoy. The hotel is a short walk to the Seine River and about a 20 minute taxi drive to the Eiffel Tower or the city centre of Paris.
Highly recommend Le Pavillon de la Reine

The PDLR has been on my bucket list for 25 years. It did not disappoint. We had two rooms, a junior suite for me and my wife and a deluxe room for our daughter and niece. The service was impeccable. Arnaud, the lead host at reception, anticipates every need. The staff was present but not intrusive at breakfast and throughout the day. Small touches such as flowers, chocolates, and macarons were placed in the room. The courtyard is secluded, private, and the perfect place for drinks and otherwise to relax. We will return and cannot wait!

Pavillon de la Reine ranks as one of my favorite hotels in the world. It is located in the heart of the Marais on the Place des Voges and all Paris is at your feet and yet, when you walk through the entrance, you are in a little haven of quiet beauty and comfort in a courtyard facing a 16th century building that has been redone with exquisite taste. The service is professional and personal without ever being obtrusive. We stayed in a suite with a small comfortable living room and an ample bedroom with a kingsize bed. The bathroom was luxurious, marble, double sinks, large walk in shower and large tub and heated floors, the linens and accessories top of the line. Our tall windows overlooked the beautiful courtyard. Breakfast was included and, in addition to the opulent cold and hot buffet, there was a menu to fit personal tastes. Food options throughout the day were delicious. The most distinguishing feature remains the warmth and excellence of the service, from its incredible management team to its housekeeping. A perfect hatel in a perfect setting. We wouldn't stay anywhere else.

Found this hotel through AmEx Platinum’s travel services and we typically have great experiences with properties they endorse — so we were excited about this stay. Sadly, after this experience, we may have to be a bit more discerning about the properties from service level — a quick review of Google reviews reveals others have had similar subpar service experiences.
The location is wonderful— easy to get around by foot or public transport.
The courtyard is quaint and inviting — love the plants.
The lobby, especially the reading/dining room to the right, is lovely.
But based on our experience, I suggest you don’t walk any further beyond the lobby, because the property seems ill equipped to help guests or even care for basic customer service needs. From the moment we arrived — later in the evening from a train — it felt as though we were inconveniencing the team for even arriving. We tried to provide grace as the city was fresh off the Olympics — and gearing up for the Para Olympics, but this was beyond fatigue; it felt more last dismissal.
Upon checking in, we were told our room was “upgraded” — and based on that, I can only imagine what a regular room would have been. The bathroom was truly almost as large as the bed chamber. The aesthetic was fine (I don’t know that I agree with comments that the room was dated) but the overall accommodation was underwhelming.
The team servicing the rooms was quite lovely and the amenities offered through the rooms were average. There is an in-room Nespresso machine, which was nice since the team in the lobby seemed slow to care for a visitor’s request for coffee.
As a general experience, we were also chided for being in the courtyard late — something we heard from other guests is common critique of guests from the night team. If there are going to be evening quiet hours those should be posted — of the 3 tables outside none of us were loud or creating commotion, but we were corrected just the same.
Bottom line: there are a lot of social hotels to visit in Paris — for as nice as historic and lovely as this property is, sadly, because of our experience with members of this property’s team, we felt unwelcome and happy to leave.

Response from Sophie Weiss, Directeur général at Le Pavillon De La Reine
Responded Dec 16, 2024
Dear Allyson, We are very sorry to read your comment. Service is the most important for our hotel, and we are deeply sorry we did not meet your expectations especially for that part. There are no quiet hours, we just care also for our other guest who are looking for a peaceful time while sleeping. We hope you will leave us a second chance to impress you, should you come back to Paris, please feel free to contact us directly. Kind regards.

The young waiter was not charming when showing us the table in the courtyard or when serving us. It did not match the ambience of the surroundings and definitely did not match the website. Other guests left because they were not even served. The location was not even very busy on Saturday, August 12th at 6 p.m. 1 Aperol Spritz cost a royal €18.00. Our mistake... please look at the menu beforehand 😕

We stay at the Pavillon every December. Located in the Marias with many historical sites and great restaurants a simple walk away. The hotel is small but has a large staff to meet all your needs. We have used the concierges to make all our restaurant reservations. We have our favorites, and they always have new suggestions.
We usually stay in a suite which is large by Paris standards. We did have breakfast this year but don't always because we normally don't eat much in the morning. If you want a lighter fare there are several restaurants and pâtisseries within a few minutes.
During the Xmas season the hotel has very attractive outdoor lighting which attracts a lot of attention in the Place des Voges neighborhood. The fireplace is always burning in the honor bar where you can sit and enjoy a drink or just sit in the warmth of the fire.
It is always a pleasure to return each year and renew our relationship with this great hotel. See you next December!

Comfortable room, very pleasant spa and very well located hotel.
For 30 euros, the breakfast is not up to par.
However, customer satisfaction is apparently not a priority.
- very few hellos! Did you sleep well …. ???
- the cleaning lady on the phone speaks very loudly in the corridors
- at breakfast (omelette, eggs, etc. on request): “I would like to have poached eggs and bacon please” => curt answer: bacon is on the buffet!
And we actually bring the eggs without bacon… “mind-blowing”
- in the end: too little or even no exchange with customers: a feeling of disturbing

This hotel is divine. Zero complaints. Incredible walkable location in the Marais, yet it was totally quiet, no street noise, and we heard no noise from other rooms. All the rooms have unique wallpaper. Our room (room 90) was super cool, I think it used to be an attic or something. The breakfast was great. The staff were so helpful and caring. Will definitely stay here again next time we're in Paris!

For our Christmas holidays this year, we took a trip to France and stayed in a variety of hotels, 7 in total. As we moved from hotel to hotel, there were certain things we focused on the most so I decided to rate them at each hotel.
Bathroom (whether had a shower) – very nicely equipped bathrooms, some had the toilet separate, some did not. A super nice shower which you do not always see in France.
Lobby – small but nice, with a fabulous courtyard that is all lit up
Location in the city or town – good location, on a very nice square in the city (called the pink square because of the color of the stone used in the buildings there)
Size of room – generous in size
Breakfast – good
Elevator (was there one?) – yes
Ambiance - Delightful. The rooms are so beautifully decorated. We will stay here again when we return to Paris. We loved the entire experience here.
Of all the places we stayed this trip, this was my favorite. It is in a different area of the city than we have stayed in before, but we really liked it. Lots of restaurants around, an easy walk to Notre Dame, and quieter at night.

Everything was perfect! We were upgraded to a huge suite and welcomed with flowers, chocolates & a bottle of wine. The location on the Place des Vosges can't be beat - lots of shops & restaurants nearby. Breakfast had sweet & savory sections and was served in the cozy front rooms. Service was outstanding. Rudy got us a reservation at Miss Ko - so fun! We loved our stay.

Yes, but we were there in September so it really didn't matter.
I don't know for sure, our travel consultant handled that but I have mobility issues and they were able to accommodate that request. I think you select an accommodation level and then you could get a room in that class - ie. Superior.
No homeless when we were there in September. The Place des Vosges was lovely ant the Marais is a great place to stay.
Yes, there is lift there
