I booked this "hotel" at short notice (literally about 29 minutes previously) 70 euros for the night, i looked at their website thought oh thats decent looks clean enough, communal bathrooms are fine for one night... got to the reception guy seems friendly enough including his dog... reception area looks decent for a smaller hotel... until you pass through there... For the price of EUR59 per night on single, it's a nightmare!! There's only 1 "closet in the wall" I'll call it for the toilet for each floor and bath is on the 3rd floor sharing. This info was not given during the time of booking! The room cannot be locked from inside, and this goes for all the rooms... More

by far the worst place I have ever seen. the man on the reception is very rude. shared dirty toilet. the whole place smells bad. one filthy broken shower for the whole hotel. very noisy in a very dodgy area in paris. noise inside the hotel as builders start working very early in the morning . during my stay I... My wife and I had a pleasant three nights at the Nation Hotel, but for those who have never been to Europe before or have only stayed at Americanized hotels, watch out!!! The bathrooms are communal, as are the showers, and they are not high-quality. The beds are fine, and our bed was remade for us every day, which was... More

This hotel was by far - the most miserable place on the face of the planet. That might sound a bit exagerated, but I say this so that no one will ever THINK about staying there. The rooms are disgusting, the toilets (which are located ON the stairwells) don't have toilet seats. You have to pay to use the shower.... More

This place is not worth any money at all. It in a really dirty part of Paris with huslers on every corner, the hotel itself is in dire need of repair. The rooms are ok but need a spruce up, the bathrooms which are out in the hallway on every floor are disgusting, no toilet seat and most of the... More

To stay in this hotel is the best way to destroy your vocation. I’ve been forced to pay for my stay there before I even saw the room. It was dirty there. The room was arranged poorly. The bed was uncomfortable. They cover mattress with plastic. Try to sleep on that! Bad sheets were old and smelled with something industrial.... More

This hotel is aweful. We arrived at the hotel only to be welcomed by one of the rudest people I have ever met who demanded our passports! After checking in we realised how bad this place was - very poor lighting and an awful smell throughout. Also, the place was full of rubble as it was being 'renovated' at the... More

My experience at the nation hotel was a bit surreal. I had to arrive in Paris at about 00.30 am and depart the following morning at 7, so I thought not to spend too much money and decided to book a simple hotel. i booked through venere.com, there were no reviews and i could find any on tripadvisor or somewhere... This hotel was a bit horrible. The room was basic to say the least. I think the worst thing for me was that my bed smelled of sweat - someone else's. The toilets are communal and located in little cupboards on the staircase - they never had toliet paper after about 3pm and were really old. They were cleaned everyday... More

Staying in Montmartre

Neighborhood Profile
Montmartre
Montmartre is a bustling mix of cultures, colors, and styles which changes from one street to another. Ride the funicular (or, for a real workout, climb the steps) to the sublime Sacré-Coeur (Basilica of the Sacred Heart) with its inspiring view of the city. The church is surrounded by provincial streets and piano bars where tourists, artists, and street entertainers thrive. At the foot of the hill, Boulevard de Clichy features shops not intended for young audiences, while residences are scattered to the north and east. The diverse population includes a large part from the Arab-speaking world, Africa, and Turkey. It’s a corner of Paris full of life and dynamism with charms that can’t be found anywhere else.
