I am Titanium Elite status with Marriott, and after arriving at 5pm it took over 2 hours to get a room. We were offered to wait in the bar area and were given a coupon for drinks - no alcohol. What were we supposed to order? Water? The front desk clerk said she would change it and allow us to have a beer. Over the course of 2 hours we had 2 draft beers each and some falafel. And were charged for them. Come on Marriott - at over 500 euro a night, pick up the tab. At Titanium status breakfast is included and we were told on check in that since there was no lounge we could have breakfast in the restaurant. On checkout - sure enough, 60 euro charge was added per day. The desk clerk actually argued with me - she said, Yes, I know you are entitled to free breakfast but no one added it in the instructions on check in. Huh? A quick apology should have been given and the charges removed - nope, she proceeded to explain that it wasn't on the computer. She finally took it off - but why do I have to spend my time asking for what your hotel policy entitles me to. Maid service was sketchy - sometimes we got it sometimes we didn't. Which is fine - I have traveled a lot during covid and staffing is at a minimal. Maids were happy to hand me fresh towels. Shout out to the bell men who went the distance (literally - running down the street in the rain to find us a cab!!).…
Proximity to the Arc de Triomphe is the big plus. The street itself and the hotel location is just OK. The rooms are on the larger side for a European hotel and all the ones I've stayed in are bright and have nice glass walls. The downsides though are many: (1) it's gotten expensive and at nearly 500 Euros per night you have lots of other good options, (2) the neighborhood is less good than in the past and the street itself lacks life -- e.g., all the cafes near the hotel are bad, slow even by France standards, (3) they're rude -- never seen worse manners of hotel staff from front desk to even the bartenders, (4) they're inefficient -- everything from the front desk to the elevators runs slowly -- but boy are they quick to try and get you out of your room after noon. I have stayed here numerous times over the years but will not be back. Also, for me, at this point, I probably won't stay near the Arc de Triomphe as there's too much "Times Square" vibe.…
I have stayed in the hotel last week for a three days and unfortunately had my emporio armani tracksuit stolen from my room whilst I was out for the day. I was mortified, I couldn't believe it, I came back to the room and it was gone. Got on to reception straight away, enquired if anyone took my clothes to the laundry, only to be told that that they weren't. So I asked manager to come to my room, which he did. I've explained the situation, that I was gone for the day, housekeeping came to clean the room... And my expensive tracksuit, that was hanging on the chair, ready to be worn the next day.. Simply vanished!! Manager asked me to check my luggage, which of course I've already did numerous times before calling reception.. He said he'll speak with housekeeping and get back to me. And he did, only to tell me that he has spoken to the housekeeping and no one took my clothing. I said well someone has, because they're not where I left them. Then he told me that he'll pass on this issue to his senior manager who will be in the next day and they'll speak to laundry department 🙄. Either way, I was leaving the next morning and asked to let me know ASAP when my clothes have been found, as I was intent to wear them for my travels. Unfortunately the next morning, I haven't heard anything back from anyone, checked with reception, no explanation.. Apart from when they're found, they'll send them back to me. Made sure, I've left my correct email address and asked manager and reception to keep me informed about this unfortunate incident... Sadly to say, I've been back to the UK a week now... And nothing! Written them an email last night, saying how sadly disappointed I am at how they're handled this matter. For a so called 5 star hotel, that is not cheap, it's absolutely appalling. To say that I'm beyond disappointed and shocked it's understatement. I'll definitely never go back and stay there again, even if they offered to me the best room free of charge. Most afwul experience I've ever had in all my years of staying in different hotels.…
Lovely lobby. Sadly in 3 hours that is all I have seen. Was sent to a dirty room. Then to the wrong room. Now told the upgraded room I paid for will not be available. Have seen no management. Have only been given drink voucher which only covered beer or wine in lobby bar. Hotel has not attempted to correct room Mistakes. Both couples here for 20th anniversary. Paid for upgraded room. Not site seeing sadly stuck in purgatory waiting for clean wrong room.
One elevator working during our 5 day stay, waiting for elevator is totally bad experience. Hotel doesn't care guests waiting time during peak hours to use only 1 elevator for the entire building sharing with House Keepings? Worst than ever is Hotel staff wrote on my Louis Vuitton package which hotel supposes to ship it back to me. When I decide to take my package from hotel conceirge back, I have found hotel staff writing on my LV package. I have tried to contact the hotel for reason/ explanation, but they kept silence and no response. No response or no reply from anyone. It shows totally irresponsibilities of the hotel and management. Are you expecting this experience from this 5 star hotel?
The first hour that I checked in I called to see if they could place me in another hotel. The atmosphere in my room was so unremarkable, so sparse in design that it was actually depressing to me . I was on a high floor with a balcony, which overlooked the courtyard, again a very unremarkable view . The staff was very nice, and accommodating, and the cleanliness ok for the most part. The first day, I went to use the remote for the television, and it was so disgustingly filthy, that I requested it to be cleaned or replaced as I went out that day . That evening I came back to a clean one. The next day when I came back from being out all day there was no remote for the television and I had to wait for an hour and 2 phone calls to get another one. Only one elevator was working, which was annoying. The bed was very comfortable which was this hotels “ saving grace” as far as I’m concerned. I cannot in good consciousness give this hotel a good rating.…
The location & staff are very helpful and professional. One of the elevators is OUT OF SERVICE which caused a headache. I was talking to another guest who said it's been OUT of service for months. This was unacceptable!!!! I also understand that this hotel is a franchise which explains why the elevator has been OUT OF service for months. Marriott owned properties are usually better managed which would have corrected the elevator issues months ago. The staff are the best!!!
Quality hotel with high end amenities, excellent service, attentive staff, and great location. Only complaint is the single working elevator. Great views, ask for a room overlooking the street. Quieter than expected. Very comfortable bedding and bath amenities. Highly recommend
1st time in Paris for vacation. We loved this location - within 2 mile walk of almost everything we wanted to do. Staff was friendly, helpful, multi-lingual (plenty of English speakers for us). The quirks - our room facing Wagram, had a curved glass facade on entire exterior wall that transferred tons of heat from the sun in the morning and overwhelmed the air-con (yet no noise transferred from street). Stand-up shower had only partial glass wall, leaving open area that always resulted in water on bathroom floor. One of elevators broken for several days, and hotel designed without service elevator for staff, so lots of waiting. No taxi stand nearby - kudos to the bellman who ran down the street and flagged a taxi for us to get to train station!
It is rare that I would say that a chain hotel can have such a personable approach and touch. But Renaissance Arc de Triomphe has that something. But hotel is really people more than just a building. Let me recognize two very special gentlemen who made our stay very memorable - ( it was a celebration of my cousin and my birthdays, not to mention that it was my cousin and his wife's first time in Paris) - Joris at the welcome desk / reception and Youssef, the hospitality maestro. Not only both couples got beautiful upgrades (granted, I am a Marriott Titanium member, but it is always good will of an employee that makes that happen), but Youssef went out of his way to make the suite b-day ready . And it was such a great surprise for our guests. So memorable. Joris made sure that we felt at home right from the moment we entered the hotel until we left . It was truly a great weekend all around - Joris and Youssef, merci beaucoup pour vos efforts !…
