#191 of 1,870 hotels in Paris
A confidential address, designed as an elegant private mansion, in the heart of Saint Germain des Prés, few step away from the Luxembourg Garden. Villa Madame owes its special atmosphere to the sure taste and creativity of interior designer Michel Jouannet. He is particularly attentive to identity and atmosphere. Villa Madame radiates the essence of Parisian elegance.

The hotel has a great location, exceptional accommodation ,great service, and a very good breakfast--with eggs!. The experience between the staffs energetic and enthusiastic ability to plan items that we wanted, providing several options was absolutely fantastic. Everyone demonstrated a helpful, caring attitude is the most wonderful thing about the hotel. We will be staying here on our next trip to the city I love--Paris!

My husband and I have stayed at Villa Madame for years and years, either as a couple or with our two children. We used to love the hotel and were happy to be loyal customers. So we know what this hotel once was and is no more. Alas. From stained drinking glasses, to extremely stained carpets and walls to overwhelming new paint smell in our children room, to non functioning doors between our two rooms, grey old torn slippers, expired bath products, no room service or delivery (not possible to blame it on covid 19 anymore, we stayed at hotels during the month of August 2021 in France and all had found solutions), to a poorer quality breakfast (yogurt from Franprix in a 4 star hotel? Ok but not excellent pastries), to an abandoned garden where we used to have breakfast in the morning in August...This hotel is no more a 4 star hotel and needs a big makeover. We will check other hotels in the area from now on unless Villa Madame comes back. (note: we were so disappointed with our stay that they offered us breakfast but that could not make up for what we experienced).

Response from , Directeur général at Villa Madame
Responded 5 weeks ago
Dear cecileh815/Heron, I'll be most careful not to blame the Covid. Nevertheless, most Parisian hotels including Villa Madame remained closed until end of past August. When visiting our hotel with family very first September days, you witnessed the hotel difficult awakening and I must say premature even we we were very glad to meet you again. It allowed you and family to benefit from attractive reopening discount rates for the family rooms when our regular suppliers haven't always respected the delivery time nor have the craftsmen the maintenance schedule for some of the rooms face lift. Villa Madame dress code remains grey and fuchsia colors so are the hotel slippers in sealed bag not dusty as you mentioned. Many thanks for pointing the wellness capsules have expired with no negative reaction on skin and they have been replaced, indeed. The hotel owner Gilles Delfau and his complete staff keep hoping to welcome you back at the hotel to prove that Villa Madame stars are not overused. Again many thanks for your patience and understanding and we do apologize for any inconvenience you met during your previous stay with us. Sincerely yours, La Villa Madame.

Positive first. Tastefully designed hotel. Excellent breakfast, but the cappuccino is rather a latte macchiato. Less positive: Our room is only suitable for very slim guests. Only an eel makes it from one side to the other. Wardrobe at most sufficient for half the contents of a board case. Negative: The promise of smoking cigars there. This is simply no longer the truth, although it is highlighted on the hotel website. Very disappointing.

Dear Arwed G, Many thanks for sharing your mixed feelings on your stay with La Villa Madame and sorry to have been unable to contribute your full satisfaction with the cigar no longer available for sale. The scarcity of the demand has no longer allowed us to keep them in good humid conditions for consumption, unfortunately. Being attentive to our guest needs, we do hope to get the opportunity to catch up with you during your next journey to Paris in the future. Sincerely yours, Gilles Delfau : owner of La Villa Madame.

We stayed at the Villa Madame for the final 2 nights of our 12 night vacation to Prague, Budapest, Krakow and then Paris. Unfortunately, this hotel was by far the "worst" we stayed in. Realizing "worst" is a strong word, I'll explain. We arrived in the evening and were greeted by the front desk person, Nathan. He's friendly and welcoming. When we were shown our room on the fourth floor we were just surprised by how small it was. Some might refer to it as "quaint", however......it was small. And for the price we paid, we didn't expect that small of a room. At the end of such a lengthy trip I asked Nathan if would be possible to have champagne glasses brought to our room (we were with another couple). Nathan did bring us 4 glasses of champagne, but each glass was half filled and luke warm. The next issue was the overbearing heat in our room. Yes, Paris was experiencing unusually warm weather for late October. I went downstairs to again speak with Nathan, this time about the air. He told me he would simply have to hit a few buttons on the computer and the issue would be taken care of. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. No air was ever circulated through our room, expect for the air from the window which we kept open all night. The next issue wasn't completely the hotel's fault, but they did nothing to help the situation. The room next to ours had their television on the entire night. And it was on loud. Our hope was that at some point the occupants would go to sleep and lower the sound. Finally, at 4:30am I called the front desk and again spoke with Nathan. He said he would make a call. I'm still not sure what that meant. The tv finally went off when the guest left the room around 5:30am. We know he left then because we could hear everything happening in his room. Next up - the bugs. We killed a bug on the wall (which was not cleaned off by housekeeping) and we shared our room with a few other bugs throughout our stay. Back to the air and noise issue. Next time we saw Nathan, there was another manager at the front desk. We again asked about the air, or lack there of. A different explanation came this time. We were told there was nothing they could do about it because the air is basically turned off for the season in early October, which actually makes some sense. Expect, Nathan had told us a couple times that the air would be fixed and turned back on. And then we asked about the noise from the television. In regards to the noise, there really wasn't much they could offer expect for an apology. Our point was that we called at 4:30am and nothing was done about it. We then told both Nathan and the other manager that their website clearly states: "adjustable heating and air conditioning in the rooms" and "double-glazed windows and sound proof walls". Their response more than surprised us. The other manager told us that the website has been up for many years and no one had ever pointed out these items like we were doing. We found that response more than a bit offensive. A simple "we're very sorry for your inconveniences" would have been better than trying to defend an indefensible. Lastly, the 4 half-filled, luke warm champagne glasses Nathan brought to us.....$12 euro apiece - around $13.50 per glass or $54 for the four glasses. The only reason I'm giving this 2 stars as opposed to 1 is the breakfast. It was very good.

Response from VillaMadame, Gérant at Villa Madame
Responded Nov 27, 2019
I was sorry to discover the deplorable unfolding of your stay with us on reading your detailed account but let me give you some samples of understanding the situation to clarify the reasons for this disappointment. Our building dates end of 19th century with a Pan wooden structure that requires us to renovate the building framed to respect of its origin, in agreement with the authority of "Les Bâtiments de France" . In respect, we were not allowed to modify the narrow structure of our small size bedrooms between 14,2 to 14,4 M2 which is, indeed, rather small but not "picturesque" as you mention. You got the right information from our front desk Manager who reported you that our air conditioning is producing heat when outside temperature goes down to 15°C and fresh air above the same degree. So allow me to congratulate our Breakfast staff along with Nathan's charisma to save our rating to 2 stars. Paris is an old lady not to be compared to any other place in the world and Paris loves to welcome foreigners in respect of her own unique DNA and specificity that makes her the number one city visited in the world, year after year. And we are proud that USA comes first as the country eager to visit our beloved capital city. Sincerely yours, Gilles DELFAU. Owner of the Villa-Madame
