This hotel is a diamond find. I can't find the words to say how beautiful the building and setting are. This converted convent has been restored to the highest standard and its style and ambiance is second to none in my opinion. Beautiful artworks and furniture really compliment the building, such opulence! The receptionist spoke good English and was very...

Our simple, but comfortable room was on the ground floor. The highlight was sitting on the terrace having an adult beverage after negotiating Besancon's narrow streets (mostly one way, thank goodness!). Breakfast the next morning was delightful, with meats and cheeses, juice and yogurt, breads, and soft-boiled eggs plus coffee and tea. Parking was an essential for us, since we...

Stayed in the junior suite in August on a stopover to the Languedoc in August. Very nice room - lounge with a beautiful view over the hills and a very large bedroom...the sofa in the lounge converted to a bed which was perfect for our children. Service was pleasant, informative and professional without being stuffy and the restaurant recommendations were...

We had a basic room which opened into the ground floor courtyard. The room was finished to a very high standard. Parking was in the hotel grounds which is great given how difficult it is to park in the old town. Staff were very friendly and couldn't have been more helpful.

A short stroll from both the citadelle and the town. Rooms are simple but elegant and the whole environment is perfect for relaxing after a busy few days. No dinner but good recommendations offered by friendly staff.

A fabulous little hotel hidden away near the top of the old town with great access to all parts. Friendly staff who were happy to be of service, with delightful rooms, a marvellous terrace on which to enjoy an early evening aperitif.

This old convent has been superbly converted into a hotel. The décor and furnishing are done with great taste (but also some restraint - nothing is over the top). Staff were very helpful, breakfast on the terrace was delightful (and delicious - the quality of the Conte and Morbier cheese was exceptional) and the bathrooms are wonderful. Highly recommended.

An old monastery converted to a boutique hotel, this place offers a special atmosphere and old-school style in beautiful surroundings of the Besancon old town. Our junior suite was beautifully appointed and included a nice little balcony to relax on. While there is no restaurant in the hotel, breakfast is offered (and recommended) as is limited room service. Service was...

My husband and I stayed in this hotel for one night during our short visit to Besancon. The hotel is located in the heart of the old town, 10 to 15 minutes walk from the Citadelle and 5 minutes from the Main Street, Grande Rue. It is ideally located on the hill, offering tranquility and peace. The building used to...

In a charming richly historical town, this lovely hotel is located high on a hill, just below the town's famous Citadel (which, in itself, is an exciting place to take kids!). The hotel is quiet, classy, with very clean and comfortable rooms (our family had 3), with rich wood floors and beautiful lighting. It all has a way of transporting...
