Overall I enjoyed my stay at the hotel. The building and rooms are beautiful. Water pressure for the shower is good, location is just opposite the Tours train station which is super convenient. Lots of food options around the corner, supermarket next to the hotel and Tours tourism office is just 5 walk away. Day shift ladies at the reception were nice and helpful. Housekeeping ladies are friendly. To me it is almost perfect except when it came to the night shift. This is what happened: I had caught a cold when I arrived in Tours and had used up all the tissue paper in the room. I called the reception to request some and a Japanese lady from the day shift took my call and I assumed she had conveyed my request to the relevant department. More than 30min later, no one had come with tissues. I went downstairs to the reception and realised that they had changed shift as it was now a man at the reception. He offered me his almost finished box of tissue which was not enough for my cold and I called again to request for more. He said he will send someone. Again no one came. I called back to check and he told me he had instructed someone 15min ago to come and will now ask him to come immediately. I also told the reception that the lamp is spoilt and reception told me to let his colleague know when he came. Shortly, a man came. Unfriendly and came across as very unhappy to come. No tissues for me and I showed him the lamp. He tested the lamp at the front section of my room. Insisted on speaking to me in French even though I told him I could not understand him. In the end he brought the lamp into my bed area to leave it on the desk, whilst at the same time looking around at my things in the bathroom and on the chairs. It made me think that perhaps this is a crook the hotel hired. Is he checking out if this room is worth robbing? He then left. I called to tell the reception forget about the tissues and I am going to bed. In the morning, I asked for tissue from one of the housekeeping ladies who despite not speaking English was able to guess I needed tissues and gave me a box. Imagine if I had needed toilet paper at night?! The day shift lady at the reception told me that the man who had come to my room was probably the barman. Whatever it is, he has a really bad attitude and should not be in the service line if he does not like serving Asian customers. In the service line, ALL paying customers must be treated the same. Please train the night shift better

Situated next to the main station this hotel was excellently located for our cycling holiday. We stopped a night before, a night after and a night on our Val de Loire tour. It was the usual large town large hotel. There was a good variety at breakfast and the staff were friendly and welcoming.

Asked for room with Twin beds....given room with Double bed and a non-stop running water toilet...asked to be given room as originally requested....this was done, however, there was provided for two guests only 1 bottle of water....no facecloths, nothing in the disconnected room fridge.....very difficult to access hotel via a car....had to be unloaded 2 blocks away(near train station) and walked to hotel...elevator could barely accommodate 2 people with luggage, so we took turns in descending when leaving next day. This hotel is not a 4-star hotel as given by TRAVELOCITY....

The Grand Hotel was a great place to stay. I had a beautiful large room. The staff was friendly. The location was perfect. Tours is a very walkable city and the hotel was right in the center. I would definitely stay here again.

I am sorry to say that this is an old worn down hotel. Dust on walls, worn paint, hard beds, not very competent personnel in either the reception or in the breakfast room. On both sides of the reception you could find traces of a bar and a restaurant, both closed. The personnel could not say how long they had been closed. The breakfast was terrible mostly due to a too cramped area for the amount of customers eating at the same time but also due to poor resources for making coffee and poor breakfast assortment in general. The only positive thing I can find is the close proximity to the Tours train station and the city center. I am truly sorry to have to write this review, but tricking people into paying good money for bad service should not be promoted.
