Family owned inn with charm and warmth !! Built in the 15th century, updated of course, very clean, beautiful gardens too. We enjoyed staying here with our daughter and son-in-law. Breakfast was a treat with all the yummy jams made by the owners. (17 varieties) The area of Chinon has wonderful wineries. Be sure to visit the wine caves and...

I know this is a 2 star, but I was a little disappointed by the room standard of this hotel. Our room was small and it had sad 70's fittings. The bed was small and hard and there was no air-con (there was a fan). Nevertheless the staff were welcoming and very friendly. Breakfast is very good. The position and...

Hotel Diderot is a wonderfully comfortable hotel that includes sections from centuries past. It has very clean rooms and a flower filled courtyard with tables for breakfast and drinks. Breakfast includes a great assortment of homemade jams. And the best part is the very friendly staff!

An excellent hotel, full of charm and great hospitality. We stayed in a 'cosy' room, but it was still very good. Breakfast on the terrace in the morning and an unbelievable choice of home made jams is fabulous. No wonder the hotel is rated in The Times best 100 hotels in Europe.

We had a wonderful, wonderful couple of evenings at Hotel Diderot. I could not believe that this place only has two stars because it is wonderful, charming, and the staff are so happy and helpful. Our room was lovely, airy and bright. The bath was a little on the small side, and could have done possibly with a shower over...

We managed to find this place, a little bit out of the way and when looking on the maps looks a lot further away than it actually is. From the front it is not that remarkable but when going around the back you are treated with a beautiful courtyard. Rooms were pretty good, and the bathrooms were actually bigger than...

What a welcoming hotel - the owners and of course the resident cat make this the next est thing to staying in a home. Francoise is very knowledgeble and takes the time to make sure you feel welcome to their home. THe garden we were told was a work in progress but it is just a delight.

Lovely hotel in the Loire Valley. The village of Chinon is quiet, but centrally located. We parked 5 meters from the hotel, in the Rue Diderot on the back of the hotel, where there was free parking which was very convenient and easier than to drive to the front of the hotel. Beautiful XV century house. Excellent staff. We had...

What a wonderful place to stay, the service is second to none with an old fashioned care that is missing from so many 'chain' hotels. The rooms are basic but very clean and you are no more than a 5 minute walk from the centre of town. As all the other reviews suggest, make sure you don't miss breakfast, the...

My wife and I had the opportunity to stay at the Hotel Diderot for a single night on the way from southern France to Normandy. Our only disappointment was that we did not have more time to enjoy this quaint inn as well as its surroundings. Upon entering the enclosed grounds, located on a secluded street in Chinon, we were...
