For the price charged the room was very basic no air conditioning and only one small sachet of soap containing 1.1 fluid ounces of soap for two people. Very thin thread bare towels and for the price not competitive with other venues. This fact was born out by the number of cars in the car park. 18 months ago it was difficult to book this hotel. Nowadays its easy because the cost far outweighs facilities. I counted only 9 cars in the car park on my stay and it used to be difficult to find a spot

If you want a fancy hotel with comfortable public spaces (like a lounge & bar) and the kind of room you want to lounge around in during the morning, this place is not for you. But if you're looking for a hotel that's convenient to tourist sites is a comfortable place to sleep, book here. This former monastery is 1 short (but steep) block from the Chartres cathedral. (In my book, that count as "steps away".) Visits to the cathedral, museums, or the hotbed of restaurants shops meant we were never in our room, anyway. There is NOTHING fancy about this hotel, but it's clean, comfortable, and incredibly well situated. We were traveling with our dog, and they were totally accommodating. Getting to the hotel is a bit tricky, given the narrow medieval roads, one way streets and pedestrian walkways. but a major plus is that they have their own parking area, with reasonably sized stalls. We found Google maps was much better at getting us there than the car's built-in GPS. The other tricky part is you will need drive into a restricted area and you have to push a button to have someone drop a bollard for you so you can drive through.

Access is tricky to this hotel as the medieval roads are very narrow, but the location itself is excellent, a mere couple of hundred metres from the cathedral. The rooms are fairly spartan and ours was particularly odd since it was wheelchair adapted and the beds were thus arranged in a strange manner to allow wheelchair access to the bathroom. Cleanliness could be better, a lot of dust behind radiators etc. Did not try the breakfast. Reception staff not particularly friendly or welcoming, but an acceptable staff nonetheless. Would recommend simply for the location?

The hotel is located in a former monastery in the pedestrian zone one minute walk from the famous cathedral. Therefore we could go to bed directly from the light show. The room was clean. Breakfast was very good. Parking in the hotel yard.

For a two night stay we wanted to be right in the center of town able to walk to cafes, the cathedral etc. Though tricky to get into this area we managed and were able to park in their free lot. But you cannot check in until 3 pm. Our room had two twin beds two chairs a night stand between the beds and another small table. It was a very small room. Bathroom was tiny but new with a corner shower with closing doors. Everything was very clean. There was a large window looking out over parts of the town. Our WiFi was quite good in our room. No shelf in shower to hold soap or shampoo. One squeeze soap provided. This was fine for us as we knew what to expect after reading other reviews. If you are expecting all the “nice items “ don’t. This is a clean basic hotel in what was once a monastery, but the location is great. And the price was right.
