Our last stay was more akin to an episode from Fawlty Towers. Firstly the lift was out of order. Secondly Ibis need to learn you cannot run a hotel with a staff of two! The result was a shambolic stay.
The service was excellent, friendly employees, a very nice breakfast. Excellent location, near the center of the city. Good information for the evening events that took place around the cathedral. Good parkingfacilities.
Ibis Chartres is well located to explore the city and the cathedral of Chartres as it is in walking distance. They offer a paid parking garage which is handy. The service was friendly the breakfast was good. We were not so satisfied with our room: As we were travelling with our little child we needed a third bed in the room (which was booked in advance). The room was rather too small for the 3rd bed. Furthermore no pillow or blanket was provided for the 3rd bed - also a third towel was missing. Although the room had an air condition the room was very hot also during night time. The plus of the room - a gorgeous view towards the cathedral.
We booked two rooms in March and asked that they be next to or near to each other but we were put on two different floors. Staff were polite but declined to remedy problem. Rooms were very basic, smaller than expected and air conditioning did not work properly in one. No hand towels provided and very small windows. Room was clean. Breakfast was good. Rooms were certainly not the cheapest we could have booked so not very impressed with our first stay in an Ibis hotel
This hotel is very basic with no frills. The staff were polite but not especially friendly. They did have people who spoke English, so we were able to interact without having to get out the French-English dictionary. The breakfast was OK but the person overseeing it initially grilled us before letting us in. The bed was a thick piece of foam on a wooden platform, so it was fairly hard. We only had one small towel each and no washcloths. The location was good and it was an easy walk to the cathedral. We had a nice view of the river from the window. We only stayed one night so spent minimal time in the room. I would not want to stay here again but it was OK for a passing through.
The hotel is always clean and staff welcoming. Plus there is locked parking underground. Breakfast is always sufficient with fresh bread and croissan t. Fresh coffee and juice. The restaurant is efficient and food of a good standard
Got a great room! Quiet, comfortable, clean. Most importantly great staff. Was having a rough start to my day and the people at the front really pulled through and helped me with a few things. This is despite the language barrier. They went above and beyond! A random act of kindness which has been a rarity in my time in France so I’m extra appreciative.
Booked in advance at a good rate but I was charged the actual daily rate on check in. However this was quickly rectified but something to be aware of. The hotel has private secure parking which was a reason for booking. The room was very hot and although reception did say that there was air conditioning, I don’t think ours was working and we couldn’t open the window very far due to security. However, it is close the the cathedral, only 5 or 10 minutes walk and close to restaurants and bars. Breakfast was very good with plenty of choice.
OK, it is quite basic but meets our needs en route home from our stays in the South of France. Reception area is fine as is the bar and sitting area while breakfast should be sufficient for anyone. Rooms are comfortable but as with most French hotels, there is no coffee and tea making facilty - always a negativre for us. Staff are polite and friendly as well. A plus though is it is an easy walk into town while access to the route to the North and home is easy and saves time versus staying in the main town.
Stayed here for 2 nights and a good place to stay for walking around Chartres. Hotel has it's own parking. Room was good with Kingsize bed and the breakfast was eat as much as you want. Takes about 10 minutes to walk to the Cathedral. Worth the stay. Lift to all floors.
