The small room had a laughably small shower/toilet area which was only just usable. You have to sit sideways on the loo! Noisy plumbing. Ran out of bread at breakfast. No savouries, only jam etc I confess I much prefer the classic "character" hotels in France, but it does annoy me slightly when they do this kind of thing -... More

The rooms we got were not at all like those pictured. Our rooms were small and stark, lacking any nice furnishings or decorations. The bathroom was very tiny and the shower was a joke. It was abt 3' X 3'. You had to squeeze thru the opening which was abt 16" wide since there were two sliding doors on the... More

I loved this hotel. It oozes atmosphere everywhere you look. Sure, it's old, the floors creek and the rooms may not have the amenities of an expensive hotel chain. But if you go to a town like Blois, this is where you should stay. I was first assigned room 19, but because the wifi didn't work there I was graciously... More

A two star hotel. Great location and the staff were very nice and helpful. Near the castle (3 minute walk) and old town. Rooms are old, showers small and rusty. Breakfast just so-so. Great view from our room. You could hear folks walking around at night.

Even though this is a budget hotel with no air conditioning or fridge in the room, we had a lovely two night stay in a comfort room. Fans supplied on request. Location is excellent opposite the chateau/ castle which has an amazing sound and light show in the evenings. Parking is across the park and if you pay via the... More

We stayed at hotel de France for two nights; booked for us by a cycling tour company. Comfortable and relatively spacious room. A trick to ensure pressure in the shower is to turn the hot water on full, first. Lovely couple who hosted us and were very attentive to our needs.

Really loved looking and cycling this magical chateaux region. The hotel was old oozing history and while the rooms were very small they were well priced as a budget hotel. We enjoyed the perfect location for tourists who had no rental car this was a good choice. 10 min walk lugging suitcase from train station in the summer heat was... More

I was not impressed with the outside look of this hotel but the inside was better than I expected. There were chandeliers in the entrance hall and pictures of various chateaux in the dining room, possibly reflecting past glories. Our room was basic but clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. It was dated, but it was reasonably priced... More

For my review, I will go ahead and make the disclaimer that I'm comparing this hotel with other 2 and 3-start hotels and I stayed in the room by myself. I was lucky to get a room in Blois this past Ascension Day weekend. They had a one room left at their off season rate and I took it. The... More

The hotel is in an excellent location, next to the Chateau. The hotel has seen better days and needs refurbishment. Our triple room was very dark and small, furniture outdated, but it was clean. The bathroom was quite big and clean as well. The staff at the reception was really nice and helpful. Continental breakfast with fresh croissants and coffee... More
