Local hotel, no restaurant though, so go next door to Le Ceval Blanc, which can be expensive, but worth your money. The hotel itself is simple and basic, but clean rooms, good service and a decent breakfast make this hotel one to remember if you are on a budget...

Compostelle is a cozy little hotel. There's nothing special about the place, but the staff is friendly, the rooms are clean, and there are nice views out the back of the building over the countryside. The hotel is a bit set off the main road so I'd imagine it's quieter than the village's other hotels. There's no restaurant in the... More

Met very friendly staff in the reception…got a room on one of the top floors….a bit noisy from fans from neighbouring kitchen. We checked out a day early to move on. But Vezelay was certainly worth the visit.

We stayed for two nights in Vezelay (pretty much all you need for Vezelay) and found La Compostelle perfect for our needs. Very friendly greeting and they upgraded us when they saw we had a baby. Our room opened up to the courtyard out the back and the view was beautiful from there (not so much the garden). The room... More

Location of the hotel is excellent, at the bottom of the hill that leads up to the Cathedral. Our room was on first floor and must normally be used for families as it has a loft. The stairs to the loft made a great place to hang our jackets when we came in from occasionally dreary weather. Room was comfortable... More

The hotel is in good location and has parking space in front of the hotel. The double bed was very uncomfortable, the edge of bed was lower than the middle and my partner fell off the bed during the night. The breakfast was very nice and the staff were very friendly.

First time here, and quite pleased. The staff were great, the hotel comfortable, though our room (number 21) was quite small, and the bedboard did not fit the bed. To explain, my head and pillow was against the light switch. Every time I moved during the night, I switched the bedside light on. Most disconcerting. Free Wi-Fi was a bonus,... More

We had wanted to visit the basilica here dedicated to Mary Magdelene and decided on this reasonable hotel that accommodates many hikers on the Camino of Santiago de Compostelle, as evidenced by the brass seashell markers along its cobbled streets. We asked for a room with a view, and it couldn't have been prettier, with a balcony onto a Burgundian... More

Surprisingly well kept hotel: our room was spacious and cool, the beds were good, a bit on the soft side, the view across the valley was wonderful and breakfast was adequate with eggs, meats and cheeses as well as croissants and jams. Very friendly staff.

Vezelay is a beautiful medieval town, one of the beginnings of the pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela, and by tradition the resting place of St. Mary Magdalene, to whom the basilica is dedicated. The Hotel Compostelle is just outside the town walls and an easy walk to anywhere. We slept in a pleasant, simple ground floor room that could... More
