Incredible building with stone arches overhead in the ancient lobby/restaurant. Eating delicious pastries and perfect cappuccino by candlelight in the dim stone room was an amazing experience. We stayed in the duplex rooms on the top floor-- also a unique experience, though know that you need strong legs to go up and down the spiral staircase leading to the rooms!

Thoroughly enjoyed our one night at Abbaye de Maizieres as a stopover en route to Provence/Cote d'Azur. With its medieval features of vaulted ceilings (in the reception and restaurant areas) and spiral staircase (to the bedroom suites) it certainly has plentiful charm, though it may not be ideal if you have mobility issues. Service was polite, efficient and professional. Our... More

We wanted a period property in the centra of Beaune and this boutique hotel is a real treasure. Great restoration with period features but air con and efficient plumbing! Family owned and run and it shows - from the warm welcome and help with the bags, to the attentive suggestions of where to go and where to eat. Breakfast was... More

This hotel is wonderful - incredible ambience with a location right in the center of town. The hotel's restaurant is also fabulous - great food and attentive but not overbearing service. The location is in the center of town so close to everything. The only downside is accessibility for anyone with a physical impairment. Access to the rooms is via... More

We stayed at Abbaye de Maizieres for one night at the end of a self organised 14 day cycle trip around Burgundy. I wanted comfortable accommodation but did not want to spend a fortune as we would only needed a place to sleep for one night. Abbaye de Maizieres met my expectations providing a very comfortable room, nice bathroom and... More

Beaune is a fantastic place, it's got loads of character, lots to see and an abundance of restaurants. This hotel is very central Ana a mere 5 mins walk from it all. They were very welcoming, the receptionist was extremely accommodating and spoke very good English. The hotel rooms are spacious and very clean, highly recommended

Don't get me wrong, there was a lot that was good, very friendly service and stunning building for us what let it down was the size and layout of the room. A spiral staircase up to the rooms which we expected what we didn't like was the v Ryan steep stairs in the room with the bedroom upstairs and the... More

We found the entrance pretty easily due to reading up previous reviews on Tripadvisor so knew what to expect. Yep - the entrance really did look like a window and it is very low down! Just follow your gps to the road name, keep your eyes peeled for the hotel name and towards the ground! We were placed on the... More

We arrived after a disappointing hotel stay in Paris. I was delighted. The authentically courtious staff hauled my luggage up the spiral steps. I was embarrassed but only by my overpacking! They were wonderfully accommodating. I had left my sunglasses in the car and they driove out to where it was parked and got them for me! The room was... More

This hotel promised much and did indeed suggest in the promotional material that there is a steep staircase to ascend to get to your room, but my wife and I found this to be mountain goat territory. Although we are very fit we found the staircase to be much narrower and steeper than expected and really quite dangerous. Worse still,... More
