This is a nice enough hotel in the center of Beaune within an easy walk of all the best restaurants and other attractions. The folks at the desk were very friendly and helpful. I do have a couple of concerns, though. As the other reviews noted, in order to get to the rooms on the upper floors, the steps are...

Beautiful, old and centrally located hotel; we stayed one night in a large and modernized room on the 1st (European) floor. We had very little luggage and the lack of elevator was therefore not a problem. The bathroom was modern and clean (bathtub/shower very narrow space) and the bed was comfortable. We ate both dinner and breakfast in the hotel...

We stayed here on our trip around France. We stayed in a room on the third floor and there are quite a bit of stairs. The room and bathroom was lovely! We also had dinner here and it was delicious. I would recommend this hotel.

I spent 2 nights in this lovely hotel. I had a room on the top floor (Les Greves room) which had the most incredible view over ancient roofs - I loved gazing out that window. The bathroom was very swish and the shower excellent. The bed? The most comfortable I slept in during my 3 week soujourn. Yes, there were...

We stayed here twice in October and our way back in November. The lobby is absolutely stunning! Our room was on the top floor, so we had a steep walk up. It is an old monastery and has no lift. But the hotel staff is very helpful and carries your bags upstairs. Our was not to big, but equipped very...

Not easy to park your car and find the entrance... Very steep stairs to get to your room and no lift. Reception and restaurant are underground and it is magnificent, rooms was ok, modern and spacious, modern TV sets, wifi was fine. Staffs was great and helpful. We had a dinner and it was perfect, great cuisine and good service....

My wife and I reserved this hotel over 6 months in advance. We were on a 3-week trip to France. We each had a small carry-on and a regular size suitcase. That was our undoing. We got room #9, Richebourg. It turned out to be on the 3rd floor. There are no elevators in this restored abbey. So we had...

The hotel doesn't really look like an abbey - rather like an old middle age building. Entry is underground, in an old cellar. Restaurant and reception are cramped and dark. As indicated, there are no elevators, so you've got to literally "climb" up to your room (stairs are really steep). Rooms are OK, but mine had no view on the...

We love to stay in historic properties and Abbaye de Maizieres was a fabulous stay. The owners and staff are welcoming and helpful. The location can't be beat in the town of Beaune. You can walk to everything and parking is close to the hotel and free! The hotel is quite unique, a former monk's residence with wine production and...

If you like old stones, you will enjoy the beautiful restauration of this small Abbaye. Don't expect a tour or history of the Abbaye but visit abbayedefontenay.com for the background of the order 'cistercienne'. No faint of heart for stairs! Good restaurant and quiet nights.
