My wife and I enjoyed Hotel Les Marechaux immensely. The building started as a single family mansion in 1854 (Napoleon III style) in a neighborhood of similar buildings. When you return to the hotel from the center of town (only five minutes away) in the evening, you go back in time to 19th century residential wealth. The owners of the hotel are friendly and meticulous from setting up the breakfast room in the morning to ensuring a quiet environment at night. We had rain so we didn't experience the pool, which was too bad. It looked very nice. We will return.

In July '22 we stayed on our way from the Cote d'Azur to the U.K. hoping to go north to avoid the intense heat. Sadly we arrived early to 40 degrees but thankfully the owners kindly allowed us to get in early for a refreshing beer and to unload our cases. Nice welcome from owners and from Churchill their dog! Room overlooking the pool was nice. Only downside was the noise from the freestanding aircon unit which seemed to be a temporary solution as the wall mounted one seemed out of action. But very comfortable. And an excellent breakfast in the morning where we sat outside in the garden. Sadly the heat was intense so we stayed only one night but we do want to visit again as it looks to be a lovely town.

Location, free parking and pool were good, However, rooms are small, furniture aandacht amenities are in need of upgrade / update, room was musty, bathroom was very small, towels were worn out…. I.e hotel reflects past glory.

Very friendly, passionate and informative hosts in a mondaine hotel with a story to tell. 5 min walking to the center. nice and clean pool. the whole building already got a bit long in the tooth, but it is very clean and it fits to the whole atmosphere. the breakfast offers a wide choice, salty and sweet. in relation to the price, this hotel absolutely deserves 5 stars!

We spent a lovely 4 days in Auxerre and thoroughly enjoyed our time. The hotel was very comfortable - convenient to the center of town. Fabian and Isobelle we're gracious hosts- helpful and interested our review of the town and restaurants. The large room was perfect for us - big bathroom w shower, tub and lots of hot water! We really enjoyed the "hot pot" with a variety of teas for an afternoon lift. Breakfast was extra but worth every penny!

Lovely Hotel. The pictures are true to how the rooms look & we thought it was pretty spacious. There is free parking on the premises, on both sides of the hotel, so there should be ample space. The back one has a tight entrance & is sloped, beware if you have a big car. We were greeted very friendly & all the information was give to us. After 8pm you can only enter with an access code. She spoke English very well. The lounge before the breakfast room is very inviting with the plush chairs & large windows. The room was very charming with the medieval tapresty. We were facing the garden so we had a serene view & it was quiet. I wish we had more time to enjoy it. The breakfast room was lovely & had been refurbished keeping the old style of the building. The selection was a typical hotel breakfast, although the local cheese and cold cuts were very good (get there early). Also the individuell bread basket & coffee pot (refilled as much as you want), was a nice touch. Maybe it seemed a little expensive but it was good Overall we had a great experience & would recommend it. The price may be high but definitily worth it!

Star attraction for children: Newton, the British bulldog. Very gentle with little ones. Empire style decor: elegant, a nice change from all the modern hotels these days. Family run hotel; very nice, helpful people. Lovely breakfast in garden. Walking distance of Auxerre centre. Reasonable price. Breakfast paid separately. Rooms quite small, but nice. A very nice stay.

You could tell our hotel room was newly renovated and très chique. We booked breakfast at the hotel for the first day and immediately decided to have breakfast there the whole week. All high quality, local products and super fresh (the baker brought fresh bread each morning). Also the hosts of the hotel were lovely people, passionate about giving their guests the best experience. They also gave great recommendations for restaurants in the neighborhood. We plan on going back and would definitely recommend this hotel to other travelers.

Stayed one night in this establishment and were unimpressed by the managers at the front desk and at checkout in the morning. A memorable experience not for an enjoyable stay but for the laughable attitude of the managers. Noisy air conditioners, unhappy breakfast experience and obviously a dysfunctional management.
