The owner is extremely friendly and helpful . We arrived a bit early and there was no one at the front desk , but a notice to pick up the phone on the desk and call him . He instructed us to take the key to our room from the rack and make ourselves comfortable . .He later offered us tips on sightseeing and recommended we take the breakfast which was very reasonable and delicious . The elevator is extremely small and the stairs steep and narrow , but the room was adequate and quiet , and the clientele seemed to all be courteous and friendly .
This hotel is very quaint, the location is excellent, just a few minutes walk from the beautiful beach front and the town centre. The hotel manager was extremely friendly and we parked on the street nearby, there is ample parking and is only a few euros so cheaper than the hotels on street parking which is less than 10 metres from the street parking. The buildings have not been altered and they have certainly fit as many rooms into this building as possible! we were on the top floor, practically in the attic. But there is a lift, also very small, just about fits one suitcase in it so if one of you goes up and the other then sends the bags up one by one you can just about manage it! The bed was very uncomfortable, only one socket in the room was working, no space to put clothes, there was a fabric hanging box unit on the wall but it was dirty so didn't want to put our clothes in it. Shower was tiny so if you dared you would have the curtain stuck to you as you showered which made a little bit of sick come into my mouth to be honest, not a pleasant experience at all. We stayed one night and left before breakfast as we just wanted to get out of there and head to our next hotel....quaint, good location but we wouldn't recommend or return. I guess the price and star rating reflects what it is really, we wasn't expecting it to be quite so small though!…
The hotel is friendly and the breakfasts are wonderful. The location is marvellous. Close to the beach, the city walls and the shopping area. Make sure you book the parking and then you can leave your car and forget about it while you discover the delights of St Malo intra muros.
Hotel is small but very clean. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Ideal location 5 min walk to the beach. Perfect little getaway for a couple of nights. Overall very good experience and will definitely be coming back.
The room was ok for one night but if you are staying longer try something else. Price was very good for an intramuros hotel and it was most certainly due to the limited space provided. Mattress was too soft and gave us a stiff neck in the morning; when I looked into the bathroom, thought I wouldn't fit under the shower. As I said, Saint Malo is quite an expensive destination, so don't expect for much for less than three digits.
